Chapter 136: Too late!

Alex.

I was stunned.

Ella actually wanted to make an announcement.

The moment she accepted the microphone from my hand, that strange feeling that had been gnawing at me since the ceremony began suddenly intensified.

My chest tightened, because something wasn’t right and I was sure something terrible was about to happen.

Yet I couldn’t figure out what it was.

I forced myself to smile, hoping I was simply overthinking.

Then she looked straight at me, and a faint smile rested on her lips.

"Happy birthday, Alex..." she said calmly.

For the briefest moment, I almost smiled back.

"...and goodbye forever."

My entire body went rigid.

The smile on my face vanished instantly.

Goodbye?

What did she mean by goodbye?

Before I could ask, she calmly reached into her clothes and pulled out a document.

She extended it toward me.

Without thinking, I accepted it.

The moment my eyes landed on the first page, my heart skipped violently.

No...

That couldn’t be...

I hurriedly scanned through the document, my breathing becoming uneven with every line I read.

The color slowly drained from my face.

My hands began trembling uncontrollably.

My mind went completely blank.

"When did I...?" I whispered in disbelief before lifting my horrified gaze to Ella, as my eyes searched hers desperately. "No..." I muttered, shaking my head repeatedly. "I didn’t sign this!"

Panic completely consumed me.

"Ella... please..." I pleaded, taking an unsteady step toward her. "Let’s talk this out."

I reached for her hands instinctively, hoping to stop whatever she was about to do.

But before I could touch her, she effortlessly swung her hand away.

The rejection hit harder than any slap ever could.

She didn’t even spare me another glance.

Instead, she faced the audience once again, her smile remaining perfectly composed.

"Thank you once again, everyone," she said gracefully.

The guests immediately focused all of their attention on her.

"But I want to announce to you all that Bloodfang has only one Luna..." She paused just long enough for the silence to become unbearable. "...Luna Eva."

A collective gasp swept through the entire hall.

The reporters I had personally invited immediately raised their cameras.

Flash after flash illuminated the room as they hurried to capture every single reaction.

"No!" I shouted frantically. "Ella, wait!"

I lunged toward her, trying to grab the microphone before she could say another word.

But I was too late.

Holding the microphone firmly, she looked straight ahead without the slightest trace of hesitation.

"I, Ella Morrison, divorce Alexander Blake."

Every single word struck me like a blade through my chest. The sentence echoed endlessly inside my head.

I... divorce... Alexander Blake.

Everything around me became strangely distant, as they all faded into meaningless noise.

Without even realizing it, my legs completely gave out beneath me.

I crashed onto my knees.

My hands hung limply at my sides as overwhelming devastation swallowed me whole.

My eyes remained fixed on the document still clutched in my trembling fingers.

My thoughts spiraled into complete chaos.

How was this possible?

How did I sign this?

"Alpha Alex, what do you have to say about this?"

The question rang out sharply above the growing commotion.

Before I could even process it, another reporter stepped forward with a microphone while several others crowded around me.

Camera flashes exploded from every direction.

Voices overlapped.

"Is the divorce real?"

"When did this happen?"

"Were you aware of these papers?"

"Did Luna Ella really divorce you today?"

The questions came one after another without giving me the chance to answer even a single one.

I stood there in complete shock.

Before the reporters could close in any further, Philip quickly stepped in front of me.

His broad frame blocked their path as he stretched both arms outward to keep them at a distance.

"Stay back!" Philip commanded, his voice carrying enough authority to momentarily silence the crowd. "Give Alpha Alex some space!"

Despite his efforts, the cameras continued flashing relentlessly.

I barely noticed any of it.

My eyes remained fixed on only one person.

Ella.

She stood there with remarkable composure, the microphone still resting comfortably in her hand.

There wasn’t even the slightest trace of regret on her face.

Instead...She looked satisfied and victorious. As though she had finally achieved exactly what she had been waiting for.

A sharp ache spread through my chest.

Why?

Why did she do this to me?

Didn’t she love me anymore?

Was everything between us truly over?

"Ella!" Eva’s furious voice suddenly cut through my thoughts. "How dare you pull such a stunt here?"

She stormed toward Ella, her eyes blazing with rage.

Ella slowly turned to face her, and her expression barely changed.

"And what right do you have to question me?" she asked coldly, her annoyance evident in every word.

Eva’s face twisted with fury.

"You slut!" she screamed.

Without another thought, she lunged forward, her hand reaching directly for Ella’s hair.

My body reacted before my mind could.

"No!"

I rushed between them and shoved Eva away with enough force to stop her from touching Ella.

She stumbled backward uncontrollably before crashing onto the ground, her waist striking the floor with a painful thud.

A loud gasp swept through the hall.

"Stay away from her, Eva!" I roared, glaring down at her, as my chest rose and fell violently. "This is all your fault!"

Every bit of anger I had been suppressing exploded at once.

If she hadn’t interfered...If she hadn’t kept pushing...none of this would have happened.

I slowly turned back toward Ella.

To my surprise, she wasn’t frightened. She looked...amused, and a faint smile played on her lips as she watched everything unfold before her.

I swallowed hard.

Desperation completely took over.

"Ella... please." I said, as my voice softened. "Stop this already." I took a hesitant step toward her. "I’ll make you my only Luna."

I clung to those words with everything I had.

Surely...that was what she wanted all along.

Surely that was enough to make her stay.

Ella let out a quiet chuckle—the sound was calm, and almost mocking.

"It’s too late, Alex," she said without the slightest hint of remorse, as her eyes met mine steadily. "We’re divorced."
