Chapter 134: Unveil.
ELLA.
I kept the smile on my face, refusing to let even the slightest crack appear in it.
Every muscle in my body remained perfectly composed as I lifted my chin a little higher, carrying myself with quiet confidence.
This was the moment.
The very moment I had been waiting for.
There was no reason for nervousness anymore.
Everything had led to this.
"My fellow Alphas," Alex announced enthusiastically, his deep voice carrying across every corner of the arena through the enchanted microphone. "Allow me to present to you the two Lunas of the Bloodfang Pack!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, he turned toward us, and then particularly toward me.
His gaze lingered on my veiled face for a brief second before he stretched one hand toward me in a gentlemanly manner.
Without hesitation, I gracefully placed my hand into his.
His fingers wrapped around mine, and he helped me rise from my seat.
The flowing gown brushed softly against the polished floor as I stood to my full height.
Side by side, we turned to face the enormous gathering before us.
Hundreds of eyes immediately settled on us, as all of them watched in complete anticipation.
I could practically feel their curiosity pressing against me from every direction.
What kind of woman was hidden beneath the veil?
What did the first Luna of Bloodfang truly look like?
I simply smiled beneath the fabric, and let them wonder.
They wouldn’t have to wait much longer.
"And this..." Alex declared proudly, his voice filled with unmistakable admiration. "...is Luna Ella of Bloodfang!"
His words echoed majestically throughout the arena.
Slowly and carefully, he leaned closer, and one of his hands reached toward the delicate veil resting over my face.
His fingers gently caught the edge of the fabric, and with remarkable care, he lifted it away.
The veil slid effortlessly from my face, as the cool breeze immediately brushed against my skin.
For one heartbeat...the entire arena fell silent, while Alex froze completely.
His hand remained suspended in midair exactly where it had been after removing the veil.
His body refused to move, and even his breathing seemed to stop as he simply stared at me. His eyes widened little by little, filled with disbelief, admiration, and something far too obvious for him to hide.
He looked utterly captivated.
Around us, soft gasps erupted one after another.
The sound spread across the arena like ripples through still water.
Many of the guests openly stared without bothering to hide their amazement. Others exchanged stunned glances before looking back at me again.
From the corner of my eye, I noticed the triplets.
All three of them had gone completely still.
Their eyes remained fixed on my unveiled face without blinking, almost as though they had forgotten where they were.
For several long seconds, none of them looked anywhere else, and then almost simultaneously, their gazes shifted from me to Alex.
The change in their expressions was immediate, as their faces darkened, their jaws tightened and their eyes burned with unmistakable anger, jealousy and possessiveness.
It took every ounce of self-control I possessed not to chuckle at the sight.
"You look stunning," Alex suddenly blurted out.
The words escaped him before he could stop himself. He hadn’t even realized he had spoken aloud.
Unfortunately for him...the microphone was still resting close to his lips.BHis unguarded compliment echoed throughout the entire arena.
Every single person heard it, and a fresh wave of murmurs instantly swept through the audience.
Alex blinked as though only just realizing what he had done, and color immediately rushed into his cheeks. His face turned noticeably red with embarrassment.
He looked away for a brief second before awkwardly clearing his throat, obviously wishing he could take those words back.
Unfortunately...It was already too late.
From my peripheral vision, I saw the triplets abruptly rise to their feet.
The movement was so sudden that several nearby Alphas instinctively turned toward them.
The dangerous aura radiating from the three brothers was impossible to ignore.
For a brief moment, the atmosphere became suffocating. It felt as though the temperature inside the arena had dropped.
However, after several tense seconds, they slowly forced themselves back into their seats.
Even so, the hostility lingering in their eyes never disappeared, as their gazes remained fixed on Alex.
Meanwhile, Eva hadn’t taken her eyes off me even once, as confusion, disbelief, and growing uneasiness flickered across her face.
She looked as though she couldn’t understand what had just happened. Her brows slowly knitted together as she continued staring at me.
I could almost hear the questions racing through her mind.
What happened?
Why wasn’t I looking like what she expected?
A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips.
Well...she was about to find out.
Alex slowly stepped away from my side, though the faint redness staining his cheeks still hadn’t completely faded.
It was obvious he was still embarrassed by the compliment that had accidentally echoed across the entire arena only moments ago.
He cleared his throat quietly, seemingly trying to regain his composure before turning his attention elsewhere.
Without saying another word to me, he walked toward Eva. His posture straightened once more as he stretched one hand out to her with practiced elegance.
Eva immediately accepted it.
A satisfied smile spread across her face as she delicately placed her hand into his.
With his support, she gracefully rose to her feet, lifting her chin proudly as though this moment belonged entirely to her.
"And I also present to you..." Alex announced, his voice once again filled with energy and authority. "...Luna Eva of Bloodfang!"
His words echoed confidently across the arena.
The smile on my own face never faltered, as It remained perfectly calm and perfectly pleasant.
I gently brought my hands together, lightly clasping them before me as though I were just another delighted spectator waiting to witness the unveiling.
Inside, however...I was counting every second.
Alex slowly leaned toward Eva, his movements were careful and unhurried, and his fingers reached for the edge of the delicate veil covering her face.
With deliberate gentleness, he lifted the fabric, and the veil slipped away.
For the briefest moment, silence filled the arena and then suddenly an explosive uproar erupted from every corner of the gathering.
Gasps.
Cries of shock.
Loud whispers.
The entire crowd instantly burst into restless commotion.
People began talking over one another, unable to contain their reactions.
Alex himself recoiled almost instinctively, as his expression changed so abruptly that it was almost amusing to watch.
Without another thought, he flung the veil still resting in his hand straight onto the floor.
The speed with which he discarded it made it seem as though he had just touched something poisonous.
His face twisted with disbelief.
"What is the meaning of this?" he demanded sharply, as annoyance dripped from every word as his eyes remained fixed on Eva.
His voice echoed throughout the arena, immediately silencing many of the surrounding whispers.
Eva blinked several times, as she looked genuinely confused.
"What did you mean?" she asked innocently, as her brows knitted together as she searched Alex’s face for an explanation. "Is there anything on my face?"
Before Alex could answer, a loud voice suddenly rang out from somewhere within the audience.
"Monster!"
The single word sliced through the arena, and It was followed almost immediately by another.
Within seconds, the crowd erupted again, and the whispers became louder and more vicious. Some people openly pointed in Eva’s direction and others looked away in disgust.
"I can’t believe Bloodfang has both a beautiful Luna and an ugly one at the same time!"
The remark echoed clearly through the crowd and a ripple of uneasy laughter followed.
The humiliation spread rapidly from one row to another, and panic immediately flashed across Eva’s face.
The confidence she had been carrying only moments ago completely vanished. She instinctively reached for Alex, grabbing tightly onto his arm as though seeking comfort and reassurance.
However...Alex reacted almost immediately. He pulled his arm away from her grasp without hesitation.
The rejection was so obvious that several nearby guests witnessed it.
Eva stared at him in stunned disbelief, vans for a second, she looked completely lost, and then her breathing became uneven.
"No..." she whispered, her trembling fingers immediately flew to her face as she touched her cheeks, her chin and her lips.
Almost frantically, she kept feeling every part of her skin as though trying to discover what everyone else was seeing.
"Get me a mirror!" Eva suddenly screamed, as her voice cracked with desperation. "Get me a mirror immediately!"
Her hands continued moving across her face again and again, refusing to stop.
Fear had completely replaced the pride she wore only moments earlier.
Meanwhile...I stood quietly beside Alex.
My smile remained exactly where it had been from the very beginning.
It took every ounce of restraint I possessed not to burst into laughter.
