Chapter 131: Spare me Luna.

Ella.

Alex was truly a pest.

He refused to leave the room no matter how many subtle hints I gave him.

Every time I thought he was finally about to walk out, he found another excuse to remain by my side.

It wasn’t until the very moment it was time for me to get dressed that he reluctantly excused himself.

The instant the door closed behind him, I finally let out the breath I had unknowingly been holding.

Peace at last.

I slowly made my way toward the dressing mirror and lowered myself onto the chair before it.

Taking a long, steady breath, I stared at my reflection.

The long-awaited moment was finally here, everything I had been preparing for...everything I had patiently endured...It had all led to this very day.

My heartbeat remained calm, but beneath that calmness lay emotions I carefully refused to show.

Without saying a word, I allowed the omega to begin her work.

She moved around me carefully, treating every step with remarkable precision. Slowly and gently, she helped me into the elegant gown.

Her movements were delicate, making sure every layer rested perfectly against my body.

Once the dress was properly in place, she carefully fastened every hook at the back with practiced ease.

Not a single one was misplaced.

Afterwards, she moved to my hair.

Her fingers worked skillfully through every strand, arranging it with patience and remarkable attention to detail. Each curl...each pin...each finishing touch...everything was placed with perfection.

When she finally stepped aside, I slowly lifted my eyes to the mirror.

For several long moments...I simply stared.

The woman reflected back at me felt almost unfamiliar. It hardly looked like me anymore.

The transformation was astonishing.

For a brief second, I almost failed to recognize myself.

A faint smile touched my lips.

Too bad...I wouldn’t be wearing this outfit again.

"Thank you," I said sincerely, turning slightly toward the omega, as the words came naturally.

She immediately lowered her head. "Yes, my Luna." she said, as her voice trembled.

Even her hands shook visibly as she stood before me.

I couldn’t help but let out a quiet chuckle.

She looked absolutely terrified.

Only then did I remember.

Within the pack, those in authority were never expected to thank their subordinates.

If an Alpha or Luna suddenly expressed gratitude...many believed it usually meant punishment would follow.

It truly was an absurd tradition.

Whoever came up with such ridiculous rules clearly had too much time on their hands.

I hadn’t thanked her because I intended to punish her. It was quite the opposite. I genuinely appreciated the effort she had put into dressing me.

"Relax, dear," I said softly, smiling reassuringly at her. "You didn’t do anything bad."

I even allowed a teasing note to creep into my voice, hoping it would ease her nervousness.

Instead...her reaction completely caught me off guard.

Almost immediately, she dropped onto both knees before me, her head lowered until it almost touched the floor.

"Spare me, Luna!" she pleaded hurriedly. "I was forced to... I didn’t mean to." She added, as her entire body trembled as she spoke.

I simply stared at her, and my brows slowly drew together in confusion.

The sincerity in her fear was impossible to ignore.

I hadn’t expected such a response, not even remotely.

What exactly had she done?

"Spill it out!" I demanded immediately, as my voice came out far louder than I intended.

I couldn’t afford to take any chances.

"Start talking!" I yelled again, my patience slipping away with every passing second.

My heart pounded violently against my chest. I was angry, and furious, even, yet beneath that anger was something else—panic, a growing sense of dread that made my stomach tighten.

"Spare me, Luna!" the omega cried, as her voice trembled uncontrollably."Spare my life."

She repeated the plea over and over again, her entire body shaking.

Instead of calming me, her reaction only agitated me further.

Every second she wasted begging felt like another second stolen from whatever truth she was hiding.

Without another word, I rose abruptly from the chair. The movement was so sudden that the fabric of my gown rustled sharply around me.

I barely spared my reflection in the mirror another glance, as my attention was fixed entirely on the trembling omega.

I walked straight toward her before bending down until we were almost at eye level.

Without warning, I grabbed her chin firmly and forced her head upward.

She gasped softly, as her frightened eyes met mine.

I held her gaze without blinking, and then I smiled. A slow, cold smile that carried no warmth whatsoever.

"If you don’t start speaking now..." I paused deliberately, allowing the silence to stretch between us, as my smile deepened. "...forget about your life." I added, as my voice became even quieter. "But even your family’s lives will be taken."

Every word left my mouth with unwavering conviction.

The omega visibly swallowed.

I watched the fear spread across her face.

It reflected clearly in her trembling eyes.

She probably hadn’t expected this.

The Luna everyone once believed to be gentle...weak...kind-hearted...was now threatening her entire family without the slightest hesitation.

But honestly...I didn’t care what she thought of me. It wasn’t as though I truly intended to carry out that threat.

I simply needed her to speak.

And fear was proving far more effective than kindness.

"The veil..." she finally whispered, as her breathing remained uneven."The veil on the drawer..." She paused again, fidgeting nervously. "There... there is acid on it."

For a moment...everything around me became silent.

My eyes widened in shock.

Acid?

My gaze instinctively shifted toward the veil resting neatly on the drawer.

A cold chill ran down my spine.

Thankfully...I had thanked the omega first.

Had she remained silent...had I carelessly picked up that veil...my face would have been ruined beyond repair.

I didn’t even need to ask who had ordered her to do such a thing, because deep down...I already knew.

Eva.

My jaw tightened instantly, as my hands slowly curled into tight fists.

I had originally decided to leave her alone because of the child she claimed to be carrying.

I had convinced myself to overlook everything, but not anymore because that mercy had just ended. She has to pay for what she had done now and in the past.

She would have to learn her lesson.

Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind.

It came so unexpectedly that the corners of my lips slowly lifted.

I turned my eyes back toward the veil resting quietly on the drawer.

This time...the smile on my face only deepened.
