Chapter 128: Soon be her!

Eva.

"Arrrrghhhhh!" The scream tore from my throat the very moment Alex walked out of the room.

The sound echoed against the walls before fading into silence.

For several long seconds, I remained exactly where I was, breathing heavily as anger and frustration churned violently inside me.

Then, slowly, I pushed myself up from the bed. The movement was unsteady and allmost reluctant.

One hand instinctively moved to my stomach, clutching it tightly as another wave of emotions crashed over me.

"Damn that bitch," I muttered under my breath.

The words were barely audible, yet every syllable was filled with bitterness.

Ella hadn’t even been back properly, she had only just returned...and somehow, she already had all of Alex’s attention. Everything revolved around her—every thought, every decision and every moment.

It infuriated me.

No! I refused to accept it.

If I had managed to make Alex choose me once before...then I could do it again.

I simply had to.

My gaze slowly dropped to my stomach.

The instant I looked at it, the walls I had built around my emotions began to crumble.

Before I even realized it, warm tears started rolling down my cheeks, one after another, as they refused to stop.

"I’m so sorry, baby," I whispered brokenly, as my trembling voice filled the otherwise quiet room.

Slowly, I lifted my eyes toward the ceiling, almost as though I could somehow reach the little life I had lost.

It was as if my words could still find their way to my pup.

"Mommy couldn’t protect you." I said, as my lips quivered as fresh tears blurred my vision. "But I swear..." I added, as my voice hardened despite the tears. "I will avenge you."

As I spoke those words, my hands slowly curled into tight fists, as my nails dug painfully into my palms.

The pain barely registered. It was nothing compared to the ache inside my heart.

Everything had happened so quickly, the stress had become unbearable, and the endless pressure...the fear...the uncertainty...the condition from the doctor...It had all continued to build until that very day.

The same day Alex had gone to bring Ella back...I lost my baby.

A hollow laugh escaped my lips, as It carried no joy, only bitterness.

If Alex had been there...If he hadn’t abandoned everything to chase after Ella...perhaps things would have been different—perhaps I would have reached the hospital sooner, perhaps...but he wasn’t there.

He had chosen to be somewhere else.

After everything happened, I made sure the incident remained hidden. The wolves who knew the truth were silenced, some permanently, as none of them were permitted to speak about it.

And the doctor...the doctor certainly wasn’t going to tell him about the loss.

The thought made another laugh escape my lips. This one sounded darker, and colder, almost unsettling.

Gradually, the grief inside me began giving way to something else, something far more dangerous. My thoughts became darker with every passing second, and I slowly wiped the tears from my face, and then my eyes hardened.

"It’s all your fault, Ella," I said inwardly, my jaw tightening, as the blame settled firmly in my heart. "And I will make you pay for it."

I slowly turned toward the omega who was still standing quietly inside the room.

She had remained silent the entire time, keeping her head lowered as though trying to make herself invisible.

My eyes narrowed the moment they settled on her.

"Who is in charge of dressing the old Luna?" I asked coldly, unable to hide the disgust in my voice.

The omega immediately stiffened.

I watched her shoulders tremble ever so slightly before she quickly lowered her head even further.

"I... I have no idea, Luna Eva," she answered almost immediately, as her voice shook noticeably.

It was obvious she was frightened.

That response only fueled the frustration already burning inside me.

Without another word, I strode toward her, and before she could react, I grabbed her firmly by the neck.

Her eyes widened in terror.

Almost instantly, she began struggling to catch her breath.

Both of her hands flew to my wrist as she desperately tried to loosen my grip.

"Why don’t you know?" I yelled, my voice echoing sharply through the room.

My fingers tightened around her neck.

The more she struggled...the more panic filled her eyes...and the more strangely satisfied I felt.

For a brief moment, I wasn’t even looking at the frightened omega anymore.

In my mind...she became Ella.

I imagined it was Ella standing before me instead, Ella gasping for air, Ella looking helpless.

The image only deepened the bitterness inside me.

Soon...I promised myself.

Soon, it really would be her.

After several tense seconds, I abruptly released my grip.

The omega stumbled backward before collapsing onto the floor. She immediately clutched at her throat, desperately dragging in deep breaths.

Each breath sounded strained as she fought to steady herself.

I barely spared her another glance.

"Go and get me whoever is supposed to carry out that task!" I shouted. "There isn’t a second to waste."

The omega nodded frantically. "Yes... Yes, Luna," she stammered.

Still struggling to recover, she hurried away as quickly as she could.

She was so shaken that she practically crawled toward the door before finally managing to pull herself out of the room.

The door closed behind her, and the silence settled over the room once again.

I didn’t care about her fear.

I didn’t care about her reaction.

My thoughts were consumed by something else entirely.

The dark idea forming inside my mind.

It had already begun taking shape, and the more I thought about it...the more convinced I became.

I would make Ella regret ever returning to this pack, I would make her suffer.

Those words echoed repeatedly inside my head, and a slow smile gradually spread across my face.

Then, unable to contain myself any longer, a cold laugh escaped my lips.

The chilling sound echoed throughout the room, lingering in the silence long after it left my mouth.
