Chapter 123: Sign it!

Ella.

"What document are you talking about?" Alex asked curiously, his brows knitting together as his eyes searched mine for an answer.

There was genuine confusion written across his face. He seemed completely caught off guard by my request.

I didn’t hesitate.

"Marital Protection Agreement," I declared firmly, as I made sure every word was spoken with confidence. "This is to protect my interests in this marriage, Alex," I continued, keeping my voice steady as I deliberately arranged my expression into that of someone who had been deeply hurt.

Someone who simply wanted reassurance, and someone who deserved to feel secure.

Alex remained silent for a moment, and his gaze never left my face. He seemed to be studying every little expression, as though trying to figure out what was truly going through my mind.

"Is there really any need to sign something like that?" he asked at last, his voice gentle and almost careful. "I mean..." He paused briefly before continuing. "There is no need for you to worry about anything." He added, as his expression softened. "I won’t let anything—or anyone—harm you."

I almost scoffed out loud, but immediately, I turned my face away from him. I couldn’t allow him to see the emotions flickering across my eyes.

Behind my back, my hands slowly curled into tight fists, and my nails pressed painfully into my palms.

My chest rose and fell steadily as I struggled to suppress the anger threatening to surface.

Did he really think this was about physical protection?

He still didn’t understand.

Or perhaps...he simply refused to.

After taking a slow breath, I carefully composed myself.

The anger disappeared behind another calm smile.

I slowly turned back to face him.

"Don’t forget, Alex..." I paused deliberately. "Bloodfang has two Lunas." I added, as the smile remained on my face, but my eyes carried a seriousness I couldn’t hide. "I don’t want to be dragged into unnecessary politics." I added, as my voice became firmer. "So sign this."

There was no hesitation in my tone, and no room for negotiation.

Alex drew in a deep breath, and then he parted his lips, clearly intending to say something.

For a moment, I expected another excuse, snother promise or another attempt to convince me that none of this was necessary but instead...he stopped.

The words never came.

He slowly closed his mouth again before giving a small shake of his head.

The conflict on his face was impossible to miss, as his brows remained furrowed, his jaw tightened, and his eyes reflected countless thoughts battling against one another.

I honestly had no idea what was going on inside his head, and I couldn’t tell what decision he was trying to make or why something that seemed so simple had suddenly become so difficult for him.

But none of that mattered to me anymore—his inner conflict wasn’t my concern, and his confusion wasn’t my concern either.

At this point, I only cared about one thing—getting his signature.

That document had to be signed, no matter how conflicted he felt...

Alex had to sign it.

"Didn’t you say you love me, Alex?" I asked softly, raising an eyebrow as I held his gaze.

I refused to look away.

If he truly meant every word he had been saying, then now was the perfect opportunity to prove it.

"Well... prove it," I continued firmly. "Prove that you really have—"

"Stop it, Ella!" Alex cut me off before I could finish.

His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried enough firmness to make me pause.

He took a step closer, his eyes fixed intently on mine. "I love you," he said without hesitation. "There is no doubt about that." he added, his words steady and confident, almost desperate for me to believe him, and then he drew in a slow breath before speaking again. "I’ll sign the document..."

My heart skipped a beat, as hope immediately sparked inside me.

"But I’ll go through it first," he added.

The words struck me like a bucket of ice-cold water and my smile almost faltered. I swallowed hard, forcing myself to remain composed.

No.

That couldn’t happen.

Under no circumstances could I allow him to read what was inside those papers.

He simply had to sign them.

That was all.

"There are so many ongoing activities downstairs that require your attention, Alex," I said quickly, forcing a small smile onto my face. "Why bother rea—"

Before I could finish my sentence...the bedroom door suddenly burst open.

The loud sound instantly drew both our attention.

An omega hurried inside, breathing heavily from what looked like running through the entire mansion.

"Alpha!" she called out between pants before bowing respectfully.

Alex immediately turned toward her, and his expression became serious. "What’s the matter?" he asked.

The omega swallowed before answering. "Alpha... Luna Eva is in pain." She struggled to catch her breath. "She keeps clutching her stomach... and she’s screaming about her baby."

The moment I heard those words, I couldn’t stop the scoff that escaped my lips.

Seriously?

What exactly was Eva trying to accomplish now?

Whether she was pretending or not...It no longer mattered.

In fact...yhis unexpected interruption worked perfectly in my favor.

"Alex," I said calmly, stepping closer to him. "Eva needs you right now." I said, as I deliberately emphasized every word. "So just sign the documents and leave."

Without waiting for his response, I turned toward my handbag. My fingers quickly searched through it until I finally pulled out the folded documents.

I carefully flipped through the pages until I reached the very last one.

Then I turned back to him.

Holding the papers in one hand and a pen in the other, I walked over and placed them directly in front of him.

"Over here," I said softly, pointing directly at the signature line, and then I leaned in slightly. "Sign it, baby," I whispered into his ear.

For some reason...Alex suddenly smiled sheepishly—a small, almost helpless smile.

Without another question...

Without asking to read another page...

He accepted the pen.

Then, in one smooth motion, he signed his name.

The moment he finished, he handed everything back before turning toward the waiting omega.

"Lead the way."

Without another glance, he followed her out of the room.

The door closed behind them.

And the instant they disappeared from sight...

A slow smile spread across my face.
