Chapter 454: Bonus Chapter 44: Death vs Death: A Loner’s Drink

Her father was lynched when she was pretty little, too young to even properly remember his face, leaving her alone with a heavily depressed mother.

The two of them had struggled to survive in Chimustar’s brutal streets, clinging to each other through poverty and danger.

But after her mother was wrongly assassinated when she was nine, the killer who had done it—for reasons she never fully understood—took her in and turned her into the same monster they were.

Perhaps, a twisted gesture of what they felt was generosity.

Now, Severia kills splendidly for the right amount of coin, her services available to anyone who could meet her price.

From powerful warlords deemed untouchable by ordinary means, to small innocent children not even walking properly yet, she made no distinctions based on age, status, or morality.

A contract was a contract, and she fulfilled each one with the same cold efficiency.

She was like death itself given human form, and she spared not one single life that had been marked for her blade.

She kills about twenty people every single day, about nine thousand five hundred people every year and, over the course of her decade-long career, approximately one hundred thousand kills.

The sheer scale of her carnage was staggering, a mountain of bodies that would have broken lesser souls.

She is feared throughout Chimustar as "a monster without form," a psychological terror that means many don’t know what she looks like, or are not sure they have seen her true face, until they are too dead to tell the tale to others.

Stories of her exploits spread through the underworld like wildfire, each telling more exaggerated than the last, until she had become something more than human — a legend, a nightmare, a force of nature that could not be stopped or reasoned with.

However, this monster does have a form, a physical body that bleeds and breathes like any other:

Dark short hair with crimson tips that catch the light like drops of fresh blood, with bangs that could easily hide her eyes when she wished to remain anonymous.

Her green eyes were dead and hollow, devoid of any light or warmth since the moment her mother died in front of her, leaving nothing behind but an empty shell that moved and killed mechanically.

Light skin that had rarely seen the sun, and an average female form that could blend into any crowd and disappear into any shadow.

One night, she was sitting in a cavern in Chimustar, a vast underground space where all the baddies came to do sketchy deals or celebrate a successful raid.

It was also a tavern, filled with the sounds of raucous laughter, clinking cups, and the occasional argument that threatened to erupt into violence.

Torches flickered against the rough stone walls, casting dancing shadows that made everything seem more sinister.

As a loner, she sat closer to the window near the exit, away from the crowds and the noise, keeping her distance from that chaotic atmosphere she found so tiresome.

She donned a dark attire of black tight top that hugged her form and dark green trousers that fit tighter at the legs than the waist and thighs, allowing for maximum mobility during her work.

A dark cloak covered her back, completing the ensemble that made her just another shadow in a place full of them.

She was sipping on some light fruit juice while waiting for a client to arrive, the cool liquid doing little to quench the thirst that came from a long day of work.

No one dared to approach her for anything: a drink, a conversation, or a passionate night, the cold aura she exuded serving as an invisible barrier that kept even the boldest drunkards at bay.

Her focused, unwavering gaze was set on the wall opposite her, staring at nothing in particular, and everyone who saw her nodded in salutation with a mix of respect and fear: "Mhm. This one is crazy. Best to leave her be and not attract any unsavory attention."

The door of the tavern opened up with a heavy creak and a tall figure walked in, moving straight to Severia’s table without even searching for her in the, though fairly cramped, cavern.

The newcomer’s stride was confident and purposeful, as if she knew exactly where she was going and would not be deterred by anything or anyone.

She had a deep brown cloak with a hood pulled over her head, the fabric thick and worn from travel; but it failed to hide her otherworldly features that seemed to glow even in the dim lighting.

She was a striking beauty, with eyes that were bright hazel and seemed to hold centuries of wisdom, her skin was brown and ethereal under the orange tavern torches that cast warm shadows across her face.

She had reddish, auburn hair that peeked out from beneath her hood, red straight earrings that caught the light and sparkled with each movement, and a dark choker over her neck with a crystal hanging in it that pulsed faintly with contained power.

Her body that could be seen was scantily dressed, like a bikini, the minimal fabric doing little to cover her toned but still feminine form, so the vined tattoos all over her body were open to the cavern’s viewing.

The intricate designs seemed to writhe and shift in the torchlight, telling stories of battles fought and victories won.

A moment of silence occurred when she had stepped fully into the cavern, her form looming over the other patrons who had stopped their conversations to stare at the unexpected arrival.

An Amazon in Chimustar was a rare sight, and the presence of one sent ripples of unease through the crowd.

She had paused a little, her eyes scanning the room lightly before locking onto Severia at the corner table.

"Good evening, gentlemen..." She said in a deep, commanding feminine voice that carried authority and power.

She raised a hand in casual greeting and started moving towards her intended destination, her boots echoing against the stone floor with each deliberate step.
