Chapter 437: Love is War... Literally

One moment he was standing a few feet away, the next his lips were pressed against hers, warm and insistent.

His hand wandered behind her and grabbed a fistful of her ass, squeezing it and pressing her into himself with a firmness that left no room for escape.

His other hand cupped the back of her head, tilting her face up to meet his.

He used his tongue to slither into her mouth, exploring her with a boldness that made her gasp against his lips.

The kiss was hot and wet, deep and consuming, carrying all the passion and frustration, the confusion that had been building between them.

And that hot kiss lasted for about two minutes...

Bringing his face back, they were both blushing, a string of saliva connecting the two flustered beauties until it snapped.

The thin strand of moisture glistened in the morning light for a brief moment before it broke, falling away like a thread of silk cut by invisible scissors.

Benjamin’s cheeks were flushed a deep pink, his blue eyes slightly dazed from the intensity of the kiss.

Marina’s face was also flushed, her deep green eyes wide with shock and something else... something she refused to acknowledge.

"Told you there were consequences..." Benjamin used a finger to wipe his pink lips, a smug smile spreading across his face as he looked at Marina with a mixture of satisfaction and playful defiance. "You better get used to—"

SMASH!!!

The force of the blow was so immense that shockwaves vibrated the entire tree the treehouse was built upon.

The ancient trunk groaned under the impact, leaves and small branches raining down from the canopy above.

Wind blew frantically inside the house, scattering small items and rustling curtains, and Benjamin’s feet dragged against the wooden floor some feet back as he struggled to maintain his balance.

His body had been pushed backward by the sheer force of Marina’s strike, his heels carving shallow grooves into the polished wood.

"I never gave you permission to kiss me; do not be so full of yourself," Marina’s face twisted in anger, her features contorted with a rage that was barely contained.

A deep red metallic item, etched with intricate runes and carvings that glowed with a faint inner light, had materialized on her forehead.

It pulsed with energy, humming softly as it amplified her already formidable power.

Her eyes blazed with fury, and her aura swelled around her like a storm cloud.

"..."

Benjamin had his head bowed, and blood dripping down his head from a gash that had opened on his scalp.

The crimson liquid trickled down his forehead, past his brow, and dripped onto the floor with soft, steady pats.

But he said nothing, and he did not move.

"What? Are you not going to run that mouth of yours?" Marina spat, folding her hands behind her back in a gesture of cold authority.

Her voice was sharp as broken glass, each word cutting through the air with deliberate cruelty.

"Your conceit is becoming a problem... do you think I am like the other women who crave reproduction and copulation? Do you think I am so easily swayed by a pretty face and a smooth tongue? You are sorely wrong, young man.

"Come back in a thousand years, and maybe I can tolerate standing in the same room as you without needing to vomit... disgusting worm... I will say it again: I hate you for who you are, and nothing will change that except your own death..."

"..."

[Kyaaaahhhh! Th-That playboy! I cannot believe he just kissed me out of nowhere!] Marina had basically regressed to a high school girl from the shock of the kiss, her internal voice squealing with embarrassment. [For a moment there, I nearly stripped and begged him for sex, to touch me everywhere! That was a close one, indeed. I almost lost all my composure, all my dignity. Hm...? He is not moving, though. I hope I was not too harsh on him... I do hate him for being a man, but I pray he understands I do not mean everything I sai—]

BBBOOOMMM-CRASHHHH!!!

The explosion was deafening, a thunderous roar that shook the very foundations of the treehouse.

Wood splintered, glass shattered, and the floor beneath them buckled and gave way.

A body of mass was propelled downward through the collapsing structure.

***

Somewhere around the lower spaces of where Marina’s treehouse was hoisted, inside the cavity of a very large and old tree, a smallish inventor was observing a sword.

The blade was elegant and curved, its surface polished to a mirror shine that reflected the warm glow of the lanterns that hung from the walls.

She held it up to the light, turning it this way and that, examining every detail with the critical eye of a master craftswoman.

She was 5 feet tall, had very light auburn hair that curled lightly at the tips, and bright green eyes on her cute face.

Her features were soft and youthful, giving her an appearance that was several times younger than her actual age.

She was dressed in a brown baggie lower garment that allowed for ease of movement, while sashes of green clothes wrapped her upper half in a sensual but freeing manner.

The fabric draped across her chest and around her shoulders, leaving her midriff and arms bare.

Her name is Deva.

She had peace in her workshop: a sanctuary filled with half-finished projects, tools scattered across workbenches, and the faint smell of metal and oil.

The quiet hum of her inventions provided a soothing background melody that she had grown accustomed to over the centuries.

She was completely absorbed in her work, her mind focused on the sword in her hands, when a big crash occurred and something moving fast crashed into her workshop, breaking through the ceiling of her shop.

Debris rained down around her, dust and splinters filling the air like a sudden fog.

"Ahhhhh!!! My life’s works!" Deva was shocked by the sudden disaster, her eyes wide with horror as she surveyed the damage.

She quickly started checking if her gizmos and gadgets were alright, her hands fluttering over each item with frantic urgency. "Please be okay, please be okay! I spent months on that prototype! And that one took me weeks to calibrate!"

After seeing that they might just be fine, she turned to the person who had fallen into the shop, her expression shifting from panic to irritation.

"Hey, sister, what’s the big idea?! Crashing into my lair is a sin punishable by death by a thousand swords, you know! I have rules about this kind of thing! Do you have any idea how hard it is to get sawdust out of delicate mechanisms?"

Marina stood up from the rubble, wearing a dark and eerie smile as she brushed off dust and pieces of small wood from her body.

She looked too calm, too serene, despite the chaos that surrounded her.

Lines of blood dropped from her forehead where pieces of the red metallic item had shattered and mildly pierced her forehead.

The cuts were shallow but numerous, thin rivulets of red tracing paths down her face and neck.

"Deva... I need a very dangerous weapon..."
