Chapter 419: FATHER’S DAY SPECIAL 2: Why Are You Closing Your Eyes?
"I have warned you several times, Ash," Tzadok said, still continuing to flip the pages without looking at the visitor.
His voice carried the patient exasperation of someone who had repeated the same instruction many times before. "Always use the door. Normal people use doors."
"Then again, none of the children of father are normal, so I can get away with it," the new person smiled and flashed their fangs; a brief glimpse of sharp teeth that hinted at something more than human.
They sat more comfortably on the window sill, their legs dangling over the edge, completely unconcerned with the height or the potential fall behind. He had medium length deep blue hair that fell in waves around his face, and dark eyes that sparkled with mischief and intelligence.
He was wearing a dark sweater with a hood that hung loosely around his shoulders, and brown baggie shorts with lots of pockets that bulged with unknown contents.
Unlike Tzadok and Kynos, he appeared older—around 16 years—but the way he spoke and moved suggested that they were actually around the same age.
He simply looked more mature and developed, as if he had aged faster or been born with a more grown-up appearance.
"What is the reason of your disturbance today, Ani-ue?" Kynos frowned and glared at Ash, her bunny ears flattening slightly in irritation.
Her voice was cool and formal, but the sharp edge in it revealed her displeasure at the interruption.
She did not appreciate having her time with Tzadok disrupted by the arrival of their older sibling.

"What is with that attitude? Can I not hop in once in a while to see my younger ones?" Ash raised a brow, then a mischievous smile crawled across his lips, curling at the corners with obvious delight.
He leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees, and fixed his gaze on Kynos with an expression that promised trouble. "By the way, Kynos... How is your mother? Is she still the size of a lesser goblin?"
The question hung in the air, carrying all the weight of a playful insult wrapped in the guise of casual curiosity.
Ash’s dark eyes sparkled with barely contained amusement, and his fangs glinted as he smiled.
Kynos calmly looked at Ash in the eyes and retorted, her voice flat and unbothered: "Haha-ue is doing well, Ani-ue... However, how is YOUR mother doing?"
"...!" Ash immediately flinched and looked away, his confident demeanor cracking like glass under a heavy blow.
His fangs disappeared as his lips pressed together, and a faint flush of color crept up his neck and into his cheeks.
He had been outmaneuvered.
"Oh, I forgot," Kynos put a finger on her lips in a gesture of exaggerated thought, her mismatched eyes—one blue with the golden serpent, one red with the golden star—widening slightly as if she had just remembered something crucial.
Her expression remained completely expressionless, her doll-like face betraying no emotion even as her words carried the weight of a calculated strike. "Your mother... is..."
"That is enough, Kynos..." Tzadok finally spoke again, his voice cutting through the tension like a blade through silk.
Without opening his eyes he used the heavy book to hit her head a bit, a gentle but firm tap that conveyed his disapproval without causing any real harm.
The thud of leather against skull was soft, almost affectionate, as if he were chastising a pet rather than a person.
"Forgive me, Tzadok-sama," she bowed deeply, her bunny ears tilting forward in submission.
She went still again, her hands returning to their clasped position in front of her, her posture reverting to that of a faithful servant awaiting her master’s next command. "That was an expensive joke, Ani-ue, I am sorry. I should not have pushed the matter so far, especially when I know it is a sensitive topic for you."
Ash waved his hand to shrug it off, his earlier flinch and the flush of color on his cheeks already fading as he forced his composure back into place.
His dark eyes softened, and the mischievous grin returned to his face, though it was a little more subdued than before.
"It is fine, it is fine! I know more than anyone else how irregular my birth was...!" He laughed, a somewhat hollow sound, while secretly wiping a single tear off his face with the back of his hand, the motion so quick and subtle that anyone who was not watching closely would have missed it entirely.

"So... what actually brings you to my house?" Tzadok asked again, now folding his arms across his chest like a Lord surveying his domain.
His posture was relaxed but commanding, the kind of stance that came naturally to someone who had been raised to lead and to be obeyed.
His closed eyes made the gesture even more striking—he looked like a statue of some ancient ruler, immovable and unreadable.
"Uh... why are you closing your eyes?" Ash raised a brow, his head tilting to one side in genuine curiosity.
He had noticed it, of course—it was hard not to notice when someone was reading a book with their eyes shut—but now that the other matters had been dealt with, he finally felt comfortable asking the question.
"Because he does not want to lay eyes on the unworthy!" Kynos immediately replied from the side, her voice sharp and defensive.
Her bunny ears perked up as she spoke, and her mismatched eyes narrowed at Ash as if daring him to challenge the statement.
It was a reflexive response, the kind of automatic defense that came from deep loyalty.
"Incorrect," Tzadok answered for himself, his voice calm and measured, carrying the patience of someone who had long since grown accustomed to answering strange questions. "I just feel like being one of those characters who does not open their eyes for today. It is a stylistic choice, nothing more. Sometimes a closed eye can see more than an open one, or so I have heard."
"Oh, so it is that time of the year?" Ash looked up in thought, his gaze scanning the intricate weave on the ceiling above them; a beautiful pattern of vines and fibers that had been braided together into a work of art that was both functional and decorative.
