Chapter 511: A New Profession

Amon remained in her embrace for a few more moments before Selena gently released him.

She took a step back and looked at him with a faint smile. "Happy now?"

She asked casually as she walked back toward the table.

Instead of returning to her chair, she casually sat on the edge of the large wooden desk, crossing one leg over the other.

Amon simply blinked. His mind still hadn’t fully processed what had just happened. It had been the very first time Selena had hugged him.

"Amon..."

She called his name once. There was no response from him.

"Amon!"

"Huh?!"

He finally snapped out of his daze when Selena called him more loudly. He looked at her with clear eyes before rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Oh... Senior...That... that was totally unexpected."

Selena raised an eyebrow. "Do you even realize how lucky you are?"

She crossed her arms. "You just received a hug from a princess."

Amon laughed awkwardly.

"I know... I know."

Then she said, "If people were to find out about this, they’d probably lose their minds."

She sighed softly.

"After all, I’m still a young woman. Hugging another man considered improper. They might even assume I have a lover."

She looked directly into his eyes.

"And honestly... Your life would be in real danger."

Amon immediately flinched.

"Y-Yes... I’m fully aware of that risk."

As he answered, another thought suddenly surfaced in his mind.

’How would she react if she ever found out that I’d hugged her mother before...?...I mean even if I was asleep while hugging her, a hug is hug.’

The thought alone nearly made him sweat.

"You are thinking about something bad."

Selena suddenly narrowed her crimson eyes suspiciously. She had become surprisingly good at reading his expressions by now.

Amon immediately laughed nervously.

"Haha...Nothing, Senior. I’m just still surprised because of the hug. I never thought you’d hug me so casually and so naturally."

Selena narrowed her eyes even further. For a brief moment, she remained silent.

Then she slowly turned her face away. A faint shade of pink appeared around the tips of her ears.

"For your information..."

Her voice became noticeably quieter.

"...that was the first time I’d ever hugged a man."

She hesitated for a moment before continuing.

"So don’t think I’m someone who’s used to hugging men or other people ."

"I..."

She paused briefly.

"I just feel comfortable around you."

Amon blinked in surprise. A gentle smile slowly appeared on his face.

"I never thought that. And..." he paused, then continued, I’m really happy to be your first."

The moment those words left his mouth, Selena’s cheeks immediately turned pink.

She shot him an embarrassed glare.

"Amon! Think before you speak!"

She quickly looked away.

"Those words...They sound very strange."

Realization instantly dawned upon him.

Amon coughed awkwardly. "I apologize for my choice of words, Senior."

Selena simply sighed before letting the matter go. A few moments of silence passed between them.

Then Amon remembered the second reason he had come here today.

"Senior... There’s something else I wanted your help with."

"Hmm?"

She tilted her head curiously.

"What is it?"

Amon organized his thoughts before speaking.

"Actually...You see, I’ve always enjoyed reading fictional novels."

Selena nodded.

"Yes... you have told me about it before. So?"

He smiled slightly.

"Now I want to write one myself. I want to write a novel, a book."

A faint look of amusement appeared on Selena’s face.

"So you want me to help you publish it?"

"Hmm."

He nodded.

"Yes."

Selena gently shook her head.

"Couldn’t you simply meet a publisher yourself? There are plenty of publishing houses in Elarith City."

Amon gave her a helpless smile.

"But... How would I even get an appointment? I’m just an ordinary student."

She stared at him for a few seconds before sighing.

"Fine. I’ll introduce you to a publisher. Happy now?"

A bright smile immediately spread across Amon’s face.

"Very happy. You are the best Senior!"

Selena couldn’t help smiling faintly in return.

"So have you already written it? Or are you just getting started?"

Amon shook his head.

"Not yet. But I already have the entire story in my mind. I know exactly what I want to write."

Selena uncrossed her arms and rested both elbows lightly on the table behind her.

She looked at him with genuine curiosity.

"What’s your novel going to be about?"

Amon’s lips twitched. He deliberately avoided her gaze.

"Well...It’s nothing particularly special. It’s just...A romance novel."

Then, with more confidence, as if he had found the perfect words to use, he said, "Yes. A romance novel."

Selena raised an eyebrow.

"A romance novel?"

A teasing smile slowly appeared on her lips.

"Don’t tell me...You’re planning to write about your relationship with Scarlett."

Amon immediately shook his head.

"No. I won’t. It’s completely fictional."

Even so Selena still looked suspiciously at him. She knew Amon well enough to realize he wasn’t telling her everything.

"Tell me a little more about your story."

Amon unconsciously swallowed.

"Haha...Well... It’ll be a romance novel that adults can enjoy. It’ll have plenty of sweet moments...along with some darker themes."

Selena nodded thoughtfully. Now she had become even more interested.

"Alright. I’m looking forward to reading it."

A small smile appeared on her face.

"To think my junior is going to become an author. That’s impressive."

Amon chuckled sheepishly.

Just then, Selena suddenly remembered something else.

"Oh, right. What happened to the artifact you gave Daren? Did he contact you?"

Amon shook his head.

"Not yet. I contacted him about a week ago. He said the repairs would probably be finished by the end of next week."

"Alright."

She gave a small nod.

"When he contacts you... Inform me. We’ll go together. I’ll accompany you."

Amon was momentarily taken aback.

’Damn... I’d already asked Professor Adelia to accompany me to the capital when I go to collect it. And now Senior wants to come too...’

For a moment, he genuinely didn’t know what to say. It felt as if he had agreed to go on a date with another woman behind his lover’s back, only for his lover to suddenly ask him out on the same day.

Then another thought crossed his mind.

’Wait... It’s not like Senior is my girlfriend. Nor is Professor Adelia. So why am I even worrying about this? I can simply go with both of them.’

After reaching that conclusion, he relaxed.

"What are you thinking so deeply about?"

Selena asked while carefully observing the changing expressions on his face.

Amon smiled naturally. "Nothing. I’ll let you know once Daren contacts me. For now...I should get going."

"Alright."

She nodded.

"Take care. You too, Senior."

Amon stood up from his chair before leaving the office.

Click.

The door quietly closed behind him. Silence returned to the room.

Selena remained seated on the edge of the table.

She lowered her eyes slightly.

"I hugged him...as though it were the most natural thing in the world."

She quietly reflected on what had happened.

"I didn’t feel any resistance. Nor did I feel uncomfortable."

She slowly pressed her lips into a thin line.

Then, after a brief silence, she softly muttered to herself,

"Rather...I liked hugging him."

The realization made her pause.

She quickly shook her head, trying to drive those thoughts away before they could settle any deeper in her heart.

While he was going back to dormitory room, Amon decided to check his status window.

"Good progress I guess... Though fourth rank still look far away. I have to train harder."

Amon muttered and then dismissed the status window.

"Alright! Time to train!"

So he went straight to the training ground.

There was no time for rest.

---

It was another day.

Amon, Seraphina, Marcus, Aisha, and Eliana walked together toward the academy’s mission hall.

The mission hall was where requests from people all across the kingdom were gathered and assigned to students.

The academy categorized these requests into different levels of difficulty, ranging from simple errands and monster extermination to investigations, escorts, and other dangerous assignments.

For second-year and third-year students, completing missions was a mandatory part of their curriculum.

Every group was required to complete at least two official missions each semester in order to fulfill the academy’s practical training requirements. If the mission level is too hard, they could only do one.

Failure to do so would directly affect their academic evaluation.

Since Amon and his group had already settled into their second year, they had come to look for a suitable mission that they could undertake together.
