Chapter 508: I Am Not Like that!!

Finally, the small field trip to the Demon Kingdom came to an end.

The convoy carrying the Arcadia Academy students arrived at the teleportation gateway station in the capital city of Molveth.

One after another, the students stepped down from the vehicles before entering the enormous stone building that housed multiple teleportation gates connecting different kingdoms.

The interior was bustling with activity.

Merchants, adventurers, nobles, and travelers walked through the vast hall while guards maintained order around the glowing teleportation circles.

The academy students gathered together in orderly rows as instructed by their professors.

"We’re finally going back," Amon muttered, stretching his shoulders.

Seraphina, standing quietly beside him, gave a small nod.

"Yes. It was a short trip. But I enjoyed it."

Marcus folded his arms. "So much happened in just two days."

He rubbed his temples before letting out a tired sigh. "I feel like we were here for a week."

Eliana giggled. "But it was fun. We saw so many new things."

Her clear blue eyes sparkled with excitement. "I really liked the city."

Aisha crossed her arms beneath her chest.

"Everything was fine...until someone ruined my mood."

Although her words sounded cold, her crimson eyes kept drifting toward Amon. Every time she looked at him, irritation appeared on her face. Yet, strangely enough...

A faint blush also surfaced on her cheeks before she quickly looked away.

Amon pretended not to notice. He had absolutely no intention of provoking her again after everything that had happened the previous night.

Around them, the remaining students chatted excitedly about their own experiences. Some discussed the monsters they had hunted. Others talked about the Demon Kingdom’s architecture, cuisine, and bustling markets.

As their conversations continued...

Amon’s thoughts slowly drifted elsewhere.

’Lark...’

He quietly looked toward one of the massive windows overlooking the distant city.

’I hope he’s alright.’

A brief silence passed before another thought crossed his mind.

’No...I know. The Demon Queen will definitely bring Lark under her control after we leave...Or perhaps... she’s already done it.’

For someone who ruled an entire kingdom. It would have been far too easy to locate a single orphan living inside the capital.

Clap!

Clap!

The sound of hands clapping echoed throughout the hall.

Professor Jolene stood at the front of the group while Professors Adelia and Asher remained beside her.

Her smile was warm as she looked over every student.

"Well...Our short field trip has finally come to an end. I hope every one of you enjoyed yourselves. Despite the unexpected incident we encountered...I believe experiences like those will only make you stronger."

She paused before smiling once more.

"Now it’s time for us to return home."

Clang.

Clang.

Clang.

Before anyone could move. The heavy sound of armored footsteps echoed across the enormous hall.

Every head turned toward the entrance. Walking through the gateway with calm, graceful strides was none other than the Demon Queen herself, Nyxariel Nyctora.

She wore her signature black royal armor that perfectly complemented her tall, imposing figure.

Standing well over six and a half feet tall, she naturally commanded everyone’s attention the moment she entered.

Several Royal Knights followed respectfully behind her. The staff operating the teleportation station immediately bowed.

Even the ordinary citizens waiting to use the teleportation gates respectfully lowered their heads.

Nyxariel raised one elegant hand.

"You may stand."

Her calm voice echoed gently throughout the hall. Everyone immediately obeyed.

She continued walking until she reached the professors before stopping beside them. Her beautiful pink eyes slowly swept across every academy student.

A gentle smile appeared upon her lips. "I hope all of you enjoyed your stay within the Demon Kingdom. It pleased me greatly to see students from different races exploring our nation without fear."

"I sincerely hope today’s experience leaves each of you with fond memories."

While listening to her speech...

Amon found himself distracted.

’Damn... No matter how many times I see her. I still can’t get over her height.’

He looked at her towering figure.

’She’s so incredibly tall. Yet somehow she’s unbelievably beautiful. Seriously... she’s amazing.’

As if sensing his gaze. Nyxariel’s eyes shifted toward him.

Their gazes met.

For only a single second. The Demon Queen froze. A faint blush appeared upon her flawless cheeks.

She quickly lowered her gaze before clearing her throat twice.

"Ahem! Well, I won’t keep everyone any longer. I wish all of you a safe journey. And I hope Arcadia Academy visits the Demon Kingdom again someday."

Professor Jolene stepped forward.

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

She then turned toward the students.

"Alright. Proceed through the teleportation gate one at a time."

As the students began moving. Amon blinked in confusion.

’...Shouldn’t I have been the embarrassed one after making eye contact with such a beautiful woman? Why did she react like that instead?’

The thought puzzled him greatly.

Unfortunately there was no way for him to know the real reason.

One by one the students disappeared through the glowing teleportation portal.

Soon it became Amon’s turn.

Just before stepping inside. He suddenly felt someone watching him.

He instinctively turned around. His eyes met Nyxariel’s once again.

This time, she immediately looked away.

Almost as if she had been caught staring.

’...Weird.’

That single thought lingered inside his mind before he stepped through the teleportation gate. His figure disappeared into the brilliant light.

...

Moments later.

The enormous hall became much quieter.

Nyxariel slowly let out a breath she hadn’t realized she had been holding.

She turned toward the station staff.

"Everyone, continue your work. I’ll be taking my leave."

The employees and citizens respectfully nodded before returning to their duties.

Just then the mana in the surrounding air rippled.

Space distorted slightly.A figure slowly materialized from thin air beside the Demon Queen.

It was Amanda. The witch smiled mischievously while adjusting her pointed hat.

She looked toward the teleportation gate where the academy students had just disappeared.

Then she looked back at Nyxariel with sparkling eyes.

"So...Was that black-haired boy Amon? The one you made eye contact with?" And the same boy who made the mighty Demon Queen blush?"

Nyxariel didn’t even bother looking at her friend. She simply turned around and began walking away.

"Yes."

Amanda immediately followed after her, barely containing her amusement.

"Oh my..."

She covered her mouth dramatically.

"That boy was quite cute And adorable."

She grinned from ear to ear.

"Not bad. Not bad at all. I must say...You’ve got excellent taste."

Nyxariel abruptly stopped walking.

She turned sharply toward Amanda.

"What?! What ’taste’ are you talking about?"

A faint blush returned to her cheeks.

"I refuse to let that ridiculous future come true!"

Amanda’s violet eyes widened.

She froze for a moment. Then an enormous grin spread across her face.

"S-So...It’s true? He really was your lover in that vision? No wonder you refused to tell me what you saw!"

She pointed dramatically toward Nyxariel.

"But now you’ve confirmed it yourself!"

Nyxariel’s expression froze.

Only then did she realize. She had walked straight into Amanda’s trap.

Without thinking, she had indirectly admitted the vision’s contents.

For the first time in many years. The powerful Demon Queen, who had carved her path to become ruler.

Looked genuinely horrified.

"N-No! That’s not what I saw!"

"I never knew my friend had become a cougar."

Nyxariel frowned in confusion.

"Hm?"

"What’s a cougar?"

Amanda maintained a perfectly calm expression, though the mischievous sparkle in her violet eyes betrayed her true intentions.

"A cougar," she explained with a straight face, "is an older woman who falls in love with... or has a relationship with... a much younger man."

For a brief moment, complete silence filled the corridor.

Nyxariel’s expression stiffened.

A faint blush spread across her cheeks once again.

"I am not like that!!"

Her voice echoed through the hallway, causing several nearby servants to jump in surprise.

Amanda immediately burst into laughter.

"Hahaha! Look at you! You actually reacted! You really are in love!"

"I said I’m not!"

Nyxariel glared fiercely at her old friend.

"If you mention this again, I’ll throw you into the prison dungeon."

Amanda merely shrugged with a grin.

"I’ll take that as another confession."

"You—"

Nyxariel clenched her fist before taking a deep breath to calm herself.

’Stay calm... Don’t kill the only friend you’ve had for over a hundred years...’

Meanwhile, the Royal Knights walking a respectful distance behind them exchanged uneasy glances.

None of them understood what the two women were talking about. However, they knew one thing for certain. If their queen actually get angry.

Someone usually ended up suffering. And none of them wanted that "someone" to be themselves.

Without saying another word, every knight silently lowered his head and pretended they hadn’t heard a single thing.
