Chapter 489: Good Boy

Nyxariel continued observing Amon. Noticing her gaze, he asked politely,

"What happened, Your Majesty?"

Nyxariel rested her chin lightly against her hand and replied thoughtfully,

"Hmm, nothing... It’s just that I feel like I have heard your name somewhere before. Amon Vale. I am certain I have heard it somewhere."

Amon scratched his cheek awkwardly.

"Well... I haven’t done anything significant. I don’t know how you could have heard my name."

However, Nyxariel wasn’t convinced. She trusted her memory. Closing her eyes, she sank into thought.

"Where was it...?"

Amon, Seraphina, and Eliana exchanged glances while waiting for her answer. Then suddenly her eyes widened.

"Yes. I remember now."

Her gaze focused on Amon. "I personally met the survivors who escaped from the Grave of the Celestial Tree. One of them was Kael. He gave me a complete report about everything that happened there. About what they went through and how they managed to escape."

She paused briefly. "And among all those reports, there was one name that stood out."

Her eyes narrowed slightly.

"Amon. He mentioned a person named Amon who made enormous contributions in helping everyone escape that place."

Hearing that, Amon smiled proudly. "Well, well. What a coincidence we have here."

He pointed at himself. "Your Majesty, the Amon you are talking about is none other than me. I was trapped there as well. And I know Kael very well."

Nyxariel’s eyes widened slightly. "Oh?"

A small smile appeared on her lips. "Hmm. Quite the coincidence indeed."

She nodded. "I have heard about you then. It’s nice to meet you, Amon Vale."

Amon grinned. "Haha! It’s my honor to meet you and have the chance to speak with you. You are so kind and gentle."

Then he added honestly, "Totally opposite to what I initially thought."

Nyxariel raised an eyebrow. "Hm? What did you initially think about me?"

Amon froze.

"Huh?"

He immediately realized what he had just said.

"Well..."

He laughed nervously. "I thought you might be very cold, look down on others, and be very dangerous and scary—"

"Amon!"

"Amon!"

Both Seraphina and Eliana immediately spoke at the same time. Seraphina’s eyes widened slightly while Eliana looked completely horrified.

Amon had become so comfortable speaking with Nyxariel that he had nearly forgotten she was one of the most powerful people in the world.

Eliana quickly leaned toward him. "She is the Queen! What are you saying?! Do you have a death wish?"

Only then did realization strike Amon like a cannonball.

"Oh shit!"

He immediately stood up and bowed.

"Your Majesty, I am sorry! I didn’t mean it that way!"

Nyxariel laughed softly.

"Haha! Don’t worry, Amon."

She waved her hand dismissively. "I was the one who asked you."

Her smile remained relaxed.

"There is no need to worry."

Amon immediately relaxed.

"Thank you, Your Majesty. You are so kind."

Then he continued without thinking.

"It reminds me of my time when I first met Her Majesty, Queen Celestia, she looked so cold."

He gestured dramatically.

"Like some kind of Ice Queen."

"This boy..."

Eliana covered her face with her palm.

Seraphina said with disapproval, "Amon, you cannot talk about our Queen behind her back."

Amon immediately defended himself. "Hey! I didn’t say anything bad."

He crossed his arms. "I was only describing my first impression."

His expression softened.

"She looked cold and indifferent at first, but in reality she is actually quite sweet."

Nyxariel raised a brow in amusement.

"That’s interesting."

She tilted her head.

"You even met Queen Celestia Aurellian."

A trace of curiosity appeared in her eyes.

"Are you from a high-ranking family?"

Amon immediately shook his head.

"No. I am a commoner."

This time Nyxariel looked genuinely surprised.

"Huh." Then she smiled.b"That’s impressive."

She looked at him carefully. "You are strong for your age and have managed to meet such remarkable people."

Her smile softened. "Good boy."

Amon’s smirk instantly widened. Being called a good boy by such a beautiful and terryfying woman felt strangely satisfying.

Nyxariel chuckled. "You speak quite well."

She nodded. "I like that. No wonder you became friends with such people."

Amon scratched his cheek. "It’s nothing special."

Nyxariel smiled."You are humble." Her expression became gentler. "I like that as well."

"Hehe."

Amon blushed slightly. Beside him, Seraphina smiled softly at his reaction.

Meanwhile, Eliana was covering her face. For some reason, even though Amon was the one talking, she felt more embarrassed than he did.

After a few moments, Amon cleared his throat.

"Hm... Your Majesty, can I ask you something?"

His expression became serious.

"It’s really important."

Nyxariel immediately noticed the change in his demeanor.

She nodded.

"Of course."

"Go on."

Amon leaned forward.

"Since you spoke with Kael, then you must know about Malphas."

The moment his name was mentioned, the atmosphere became slightly more serious.

Nyxariel nodded slowly.

"Oh..."

"Yes, I know him."

Her eyes became distant.

"We are around the same age after all."

She smiled faintly. "I remember meeting him around ninety years ago. Before he went to that island."

Amon’s jaw dropped. Even Seraphina and Eliana looked surprised.

Nyxariel frowned.

Especially when she saw Amon staring at her with his mouth hanging open.

She crossed her arms more tightly. Her expression became slightly sour.

"What? Is there something wrong with my statement?"

No matter how powerful she was, she was still a woman. Seeing these youngsters react like that was slightly irritating.

Amon immediately waved his hands.

"No! No!"

He shook his head vigorously.

"It’s just that you are so beautiful."

He looked completely sincere.

"Who could believe you are... well..."

He awkwardly gestured.

"You know what I mean."

"Hmm."

Nyxariel’s expression immediately relaxed.

"True."

Then she nodded proudly.

"You really are a good boy."

Her eyes shifted toward Seraphina and Eliana.

"What about you two?"

The moment her gaze landed on them, both girls straightened immediately.

"We think the same!"

"We think the same!"

They answered simultaneously.

Amon nearly laughed. But there was something else he wanted to ask.

"So, Your Majesty."

His expression became serious once more. "Do you know anything about Malphas’s family?"

"Where they are living right now?"

Nyxariel shook her head.

"Kael asked me the same thing."

She sighed softly.

"To be honest, I do not know their whereabouts."

"I was not particularly close with Malphas."

Her gaze softened.

"I simply knew him because he was one of our strongest soldiers."

Amon nodded.

"Okay."

He had already asked Kael to search for information regarding Malphas. So hearing this confirmed that Kael was truly trying.

"Can you please help me find them?"

His voice became more earnest.

"Malphas played a huge role in our escape. And he lost his life."

A trace of sadness appeared in his eyes.

"Before dying, he gave me something and asked me to deliver it to his family."

He clenched his fist. "I wish to meet them personally."

Seeing his innocent expression replaced by a serious one surprised Nyxariel. A soft smile appeared on her face.

"Of course."

She nodded.

"Actually, some of my people are already searching for information at Kael’s request. I believe we will find something soon."

Amon immediately stood up and bowed deeply.

"Thank you, Your Majesty."

His voice carried genuine gratitude.

"Even though I am nobody, you are willing to help me."

Nyxariel shook her head. "You do not need to thank me."

Her voice became firm. "Malphas was once our soldier. A knight of the Demon Army. He went there on a mission for our kingdom. And he played a major role in helping everyone escape."

She looked directly at Amon. "It is only natural that we do this much for him."

Amon covered his mouth. At that moment, he genuinely felt emotional. She looked dangerous. She looked intimidating.

Yet she was unbelievably kind. ’Damn! Who the hell said Demons were evil?!’

Amon thought. ’She is definitely an angel. God! I want to hug her.’

His expression became strangely happy.

Even Nyxariel couldn’t understand what exactly was going through his head.

Meanwhile, Seraphina and Eliana both felt second-hand embarrassment.

"You are a funny young man."

Nyxariel laughed softly.

"Haha."

The conversation continued for a long time. They spoke about various topics.

Some serious talk with Seraphina and Eliana. Some amusing with Amon. And before they realized it, nearly an hour had passed.

---

Eventually, the trio left the room. The door closed behind them.

Nyxariel remained seated in silence. The gentle smile on her face slowly disappeared. What remained was a calm, cold, and calculating expression.

"This is quite amusing."

She rested her chin on her hand.

"Only one class from Arcadia Academy came here..."

Her eyes narrowed. "And yet there are several exceptional talents among them."

She first thought about Seraphina.

"That girl. Seraphina."

A faint smile appeared.

’She truly resembles someone capable of reaching the same heights as her grandfather.’

Then she thought of Eliana.

’The Elven Princess is talented as well.’

She nodded. "Though she is not quite comparable to Seraphina."

Still, there was admiration in her eyes. "But her energy is exceptionally pure."

’That must be related to her connection with spirits.’

Finally, her thoughts drifted toward Amon. The boy who had surprised her the most.

’At first glance, he appears innocent.’ Her expression became thoughtful.

"And almost cute. But he is remarkably strong for his age."

Amon was clearly younger than both Seraphina and Eliana. Yet he had reached an impressive level of strength.

"Hmm..."

She leaned back. ’No wonder the Human Kingdom remains the strongest. Every generation produces talents like these.’

A faint smile appeared.

’I made the correct decision by seeking friendship with other nations.’

Her eyes narrowed. "The future already looks dangerous." She muttered.

Then another thought surfaced. Her expression became thoughtful once more.

’Also...What exactly was that feeling I sensed from that boy?’ She thought.

Her pink eyes narrowed. ’It felt like some unknown energy. Or perhaps something else.’

After several moments, she sighed. For now... She decided to simply rest.
