Chapter 1178: Taking the Chance

Mo Yuheng suddenly remembered how he had lived all this time, under the contempt of so many people.

It felt like reality had flipped in an instant. In the past, he had lived the life of a noble family. But after his family fell, he lived like a dog.

Since he and his older sister lost their parents, he had been forced to live a life full of struggle. His older sister had fallen sick until today, and he had to do everything he could just to make a living, not only for himself but also for her.

But with his F-rank power and potential, there was very little he could do. He had to work many side jobs besides being a hunter just to meet his daily needs.

He had already been told that his potential could not be changed, that he had to live his life like this.

He could not change his fate.

He had to endure humiliation from countless people because of his weak power and potential. He had to endure all that struggle just to get some money for himself and for his older sister’s treatment.

Sometimes, he asked himself why fate had to treat him like this. Why did he have to live like this?

He had even thought about suicide in the past.

Wouldn’t it be better if he just died?

But then his mind would turn to his only family, his older sister. If he were gone, who would take care of her? She was the most important person in his life since their parents were gone. Did he really have the heart to leave her to suffer until death finally came for her?

If he died, he did not doubt that she would die not long after. He knew that with her current condition, she could not be left alone.

If he died, then all of his struggles would become meaningless. All this time, the one thing that pushed him to endure everything was his older sister.

If he died, then that would make him an egoistic person, someone who only thought about himself, abandoning the only family who needed him.

His thoughts of suicide were nothing more than a way to escape from reality, to run toward something he believed would be better, which was death.

But was that the correct decision? Was that the right path?

He did not know.

But what he did know was that if he died, then he would also indirectly kill the only family he had left. He wanted to keep her alive and healthy, just like in the past. He wanted both of them to live normally again. He wanted to help her achieve her dream.

In the end, he chose to make peace with his condition and continue living. He had to live, at the very least for his sister. He had to endure every hardship with the hope that one day, they could escape this situation.

Yes, hope.

That was something worth enduring hardship for. With hope, there was at least a chance to achieve what they wished for. If he died, then there would be no hope left for him or for his sister.

And now, had that hope finally arrived?

Could he truly grow into a stronger hunter? Could he become strong enough to change his life from what it was now?

Although he did not fully believe Aldrian yet, this was a chance he could not let slip away. He had already felt enough of the helplessness that had followed him all this time. He did not want to feel it anymore.

He wanted to escape from it.

If Aldrian was offering him a way to become stronger, then he would take it.

His expression turned resolute as he lifted his head to look at Aldrian. Aldrian and the others, who saw that expression, already knew what answer would come from his lips.

Then he lowered his head.

"If Mister Aldrian can make me stronger, please take me with you. If Mister Aldrian truly can change me, then I will do everything in my life to repay you."

Aldrian smiled and nodded.

"Good decision. I’m glad you chose to join me."

But then Aldrian noticed the hesitation in Mo Yuheng’s eyes.

"Is there something wrong?" he asked.

With hesitation, Mo Yuheng finally spoke. "My apologies, Mister Aldrian, but I am thinking about my older sister’s condition. If I leave, what will happen to her?"

Aldrian raised his eyebrows. "Now that you mention it, where is your older sister? You said you live with her, but I did not sense her here, so I assumed she might be out and not yet home. But from what you said, her situation seems... special?"

Mo Yuheng nodded.

"She fell sick after she was caught in the gate break that appeared near our previous home, before we moved here." His voice grew heavy, as if the memories still weighed on him. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

"At that time, an S-rank gate suddenly appeared near our home. The chaotic energy from its appearance swept over my older sister, who at that time was an A-rank hunter. Only through the sacrifice of our parents were we able to escape from the horde of monsters that poured out from the gate."

"I’m sorry for your loss, and I’m sorry for making you recall such painful memories," Aldrian said, his tone filled with regret.

Mo Yuheng smiled and shook his head. "No, it’s alright, Mister Aldrian. It happened fifteen years ago, so I have already moved past my grief." He let out a deep breath.

"My older sister has a sickness called chaos fever. Just like its name, it puts her body into a state of chaos, or specifically the energy within her. The energy inside her body became violent after she was swept by the powerful violent energy released when the S-rank gate appeared."

"Her condition is severe, and she has to stay in the hospital with the help of treatment machines to control the violent energy inside her body. According to the doctors, she needs help from someone at least SS-rank with healing abilities to completely disperse the violent energy from the gate, as they still do not have the technology to treat her condition."

Mo Yuheng sighed.

"But that kind of person can be counted on one hand in this country. There are only two of them. Saintess Mei and Saintess Lu. And asking for their help is not easy, and would likely require an enormous price. They are not people who can be called upon by just anyone. Even the Red Moon Guild has to wait for their agreement if they want their help."

"Moreover, since our parents passed away, all of their business and savings were taken by people I no longer consider family. I did not even have enough money for our daily lives after I bought this house, which I happened to find being sold at a cheap price at the time."

"I am already struggling to meet my daily needs and the cost of my older sister’s treatment. How could I possibly call upon one of the saintesses? That is impossible."

Mo Yuheng then looked at Aldrian with hesitation.

"Well, that is my sister’s condition... so yes, this has always been a knot in my heart."

Aldrian nodded in understanding. "I see." But inwardly, he smiled. He could tell that Mo Yuheng wanted to ask if he could help with his sister’s condition, but was too shy to say it.

"Your sister is an A-rank hunter, and you have great potential. I assume your family must have been quite powerful in the past," Aldrian said, causing Mo Yuheng to scratch his head.

"Well... it was something like that," he replied, with a mix of embarrassment and pride.

Aldrian picked up his cup of tea and took a sip before asking,

"Where is your older sister being treated?"

"She is being treated at Hope Sanctuary Hospital, the best hospital in Shanghai," Mo Yuheng answered.

"What is your sister’s name?"

"Her name is Mo Yiran."

Aldrian nodded, then fell silent for a moment. His expression looked as if he were deep in thought, but his wives, who saw him like this, knew that he must be doing something.

Mo Yuheng did not understand what Aldrian was doing. He had suddenly fallen silent, his gaze focused as if he were thinking deeply.

After nearly fifteen seconds of silence, Aldrian smiled and looked at Mo Yuheng.

"I have already seen your sister and her condition. I can help with her condition, so you don’t have to worry."

Mo Yuheng’s eyes widened in shock. He could not understand what kind of power Aldrian possessed that allowed him to see his sister from here. Aldrian had not moved at all, yet he suddenly said something like that. And more than that, he claimed he could treat her illness?

"Really?" he asked.

Aldrian nodded. "You may not understand it for now, but I can locate someone without physically moving. I can also observe them. Just now, I saw your sister and her condition. It is treatable, so you don’t need to worry."

Mo Yuheng did not know the full extent of Aldrian’s abilities, but he chose to believe him. This was the first time he had heard someone speak with such certainty about being able to help his sister, and he did not want to let this chance slip away.

His eyes began to glisten before tears started to form. He wiped them and lowered his head.

"Thank you, Mister Aldrian. Truly, thank you."

Aldrian and the others smiled at him.

"Then it’s settled. We can visit—" Aldrian suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

At that moment, he sensed several figures approaching their direction. When he checked, he saw familiar faces.
