"Bang, bang, bang..." After stumbling and tumbling, her body finally stopped, hanging from a sign.

Below, someone caught sight of her face and couldn’t help exclaiming, "It’s the Transcendent Contest’s ambassador, the face of Stark Group."

"It seems to be her." More people chimed in. Why was she being chased and killed?

Stark Group was a top-notch organization. Though Ye Qingdie was just their spokesperson, she was still an employee of Stark Group. The thugs were insane to be so violent on the streets.

People on the rooftop saw Ye Qingdie hanging there, and from a distance, many vehicles were rushing over.

"No time left, take her down quickly." someone said. The opposition was approaching too fast.

A person raised a gun and opened fire directly at where Ye Qingdie was. She turned her head just in time to see this, released her hand, and her body plummeted towards the void below.

"Bang..."

Ye Qingdie fell from the sky, landing on her legs first, which cracked upon impact. The pain twisted her complexion, and she bit her lip so hard that blood seeped out; the intense agony brought tears to her eyes.

Not far behind her, a Mechanical Body was advancing towards her, still the enemy’s people.

Ye Qingdie, braving the severe pain, crawled on her hands trying to make her way into a building.

Many bystanders, witnessing this scene, showed looks of anger. These people were committing violent acts on the street, driving a woman to this extent—what kind of hatred was this?

"Out of my way!"

A Cyborg stood in front of Ye Qingdie, massive in stature, raising its armaments towards the pursuing crowd.

The people across from him lifted their Mechanical Guns and opened fire.

Terrifying Energy Light shot out, piercing and shattering the Mechanical Body instantly. The screams from inside were cut short by the lethal blow, triggering screams from the surrounding crowd; the attackers were heavily armed.

Ye Qingdie crawled into a nearby building, leaving a trail of blood from her hands on the ground. With broken leg bones causing immense pain, she kept crawling. She could not afford to be captured.

The pursuers reached her side in no time, one of the Mechanical Bodies extending its mechanical arm to grab Ye Qingdie.

Just then, a streak of Energy Light beamed down from the sky.

"Boom..." There was a loud explosion as the Mechanical Body behind her detonated, another Mechanical Body shattered. Descending from the sky at a terrifying speed, a Mecha swooped down like lightning.

"Buzz." The Mechanical Body’s arm clasped Ye Qingdie’s body, but the Mecha had reached her in time. With a snap, the War Saber cut down, slicing the Mechanical Body in two, spilling blood from within.

Boom... The Mecha landed behind Ye Qingdie. Those in the distance and above who saw the Mecha that appeared were disconcerted by the swift support.

The mission had failed.

"Retreat."

A voice rang out, and those figures began to withdraw in different directions. The Mecha raised its Mechanical Gun and fired, taking down several more on the spot. However, it didn’t pursue them but stayed by Ye Qingdie’s side.

From afar, many vehicles were rushing towards them, blocking off the street. A street battle erupted, with both sides opening fire.

It wasn’t long before Flying Devices appeared in the sky, effectively trapping the area, leaving no escape.

A Flying Device landed beside Ye Qingdie—it was Stark Group’s craft. Several people emerged and approached Ye Qingdie, taking the injured woman aboard the Flying Device for treatment.

Xu Mo received the message while still in the cafeteria.

It was Stark Hao who informed him, assuring him that Ye Qingdie was now safe.

"Why did you only tell me now?" Xu Mo asked, feeling a chill run through his body. They hadn’t targeted him but had gone after Sister Butterfly instead.

"Sister Ye knew they were coming for you. She instructed me not to tell you when she was in danger, so I only notified you after she was safe," Stark’s voice came through the Communicator.

Xu Mo was speechless.

Sister Butterfly knew they were coming for him and feared for his safety. Therefore, in her perilous moment, she had instructed Stark Hao not to inform him.

"Where am I now?" Xu Mo asked.

"I’ve sent someone to pick you up. Where are you waiting?" Stark Hao inquired.

"Outside the Royal Academy." Xu Mo replied, then hung up the communicator.

After hanging up, Xu Mo said to Zero, "I need to go out for a bit."

"Okay."

Zero nodded gently. She had overheard a bit and knew that Ye Qingdie was in trouble.

As Xu Mo left, the people around him cast strange looks. Did this guy really just leave Zero behind alone?

......

In a private hospital in Chuanxing City.

When Xu Mo arrived, Ye Qingdie was still in surgery. Xu Mo could only wait outside; Stark Hao was also there.

"Fell from a great height, luckily, it was just a fall on her foot. Although the bone is broken, it isn’t a big problem. It would have been dangerous if she had fallen on her head," Stark Hao said. It wasn’t clear if that was meant to be comforting or not.

Though breaking a bone was already serious, it was indeed fortunate compared to a head injury.

"Who did this?" Xu Mo asked. He didn’t need to inquire to guess who was behind it. Who else would dare strike at him after he had just won first place in the Transcendent competition and gained such huge influence, other than the haughty Lancelot Star People?

The other party did not care whether he knew or not. In the eyes of the Lancelot Star nobility, they were a lowly race.

"We’re investigating. It’s possible that this leads back to the Black Shield Group," Stark Hao said, his tone somewhat odd. "Though Black Shield Group isn’t a major force, it’s still a large corporation. It doesn’t seem logical for them to be the lapdogs of Lancelot Star and target you at such a time."

How could they dare take such a risk? Even if Lancelot Star promised to give them technology, wouldn’t such an action risk their corporation’s downfall?

Xu Mo didn’t say anything. For now, he could only wait for results.

"I heard that Sister Ye, disregarding her own life, tried to escape, not wanting to be captured by them. That’s why she broke her leg. She must have guessed they were going to use her as a hostage to threaten you."

Stark Hao patted Xu Mo’s shoulder, showing some admiration for Ye Qingdie. Sister Ye was quite a character to risk her life for Xu Mo, to be so harsh on herself.

Xu Mo remained silent; he could imagine the situation at the time.

At that moment, the door to the medical room opened, and the team of doctors came out, saying to Stark, "The surgery went smoothly. She’s out of danger now, and her leg will be fine. She’s currently under anesthesia."

"Thank you," Stark Hao said. The doctors and their team left, leaving behind a nurse to care for her.

"Go take a look," Stark Hao suggested, and Xu Mo walked into the room.

Ye Qingdie lay quietly there, her leg covered. Her hair was a bit disheveled, and she had abrasions on her forehead.

The nurse was treating her wounds, which bore numerous bloodstains.

"I’ll take over," Xu Mo said. The nurse looked at Xu Mo, then stepped aside.

Xu Mo picked up a cotton swab, took Ye Qingdie’s arm, and gently treated her wounds.

Not long after, Xiao Qi and Shadow also arrived, both visibly angry upon seeing Ye Qingdie lying there.

"Brother Mo," Xiao Qi called out.

"Shush..." Xu Mo said. "She’s not in any grave danger now. Let Sister Butterfly rest."

Saying this, he stood up to walk outside.

Xiao Qi and Shadow looked at Ye Qingdie and then left the room, closing the door behind them.

"Was it the work of aliens?" Xiao Qi asked.

"It should be," Xu Mo nodded. At this point, Stark Hao came over and said to Xu Mo, "We’ve found out. It seems to be people hired by Black Shield Group, but they’re currently not admitting to it and refuse to cooperate with the investigation."

"Not long ago, the president of Black Shield Group took up citizenship on Lancelot Star," Stark Hao said. It was no wonder the Black Shield Group dared to act this way; they had switched allegiances. Now the president of Black Shield Group was no longer a Byron Star person. He and the Black Shield Group were under the protection of the Lancelot Star People.
