Chapter 47: New Slave
"Well, are you going to say it after all?" asked the captain, who apparently was tired of waiting for Alister’s answer.
"Yes. My proposal is 150 ron"
’150 rons is higher than the market value and not a very large sum that could cause suspicion,’ he concluded, analyzing.
"Wow... 150 rons is a good offer," Thomas Miller immediately intervened in the conversation, who generally rarely said anything throughout the entire conversation.
"I think so too; it’s higher than the market value and, moreover, if you think about it, by selling this you will remain with a good profit," Garrett added his agreement.
After that, Captain Vincent again raised a glass of wine and began to drink while simultaneously considering Alister Vane’s proposal.
"Let me think. I don’t spend much money as it is. Even the most ordinary person would guess that. I only spend on life support, bread, and other things. And in our Verigia, bread prices recently started to rise because there was no good harvest. Right now, bread costs about 0.6r, which means I spend about 15 rons a month on her."
’I didn’t know that bread prices had risen because there was no harvest; one can assume that the continent provides for citizens from its warehouse, which influenced prices to earn more in the casino.’
’But even if bread is 0.6r, it doesn’t change the fact that the same offer of 150r is higher than the market value and the captain again remains in the black.’
Alister also raised a glass of wine and took a small sip of wine as his throat was a little dry after this tense conversation.
But after he took a sip and put the glass back in its place, the slave girl immediately appeared and poured some wine, making it again as it was before, which showed how much of a master she was at this business.
’I completely forgot she was even here... But it must be very painful to hear people discussing you as a resource. At the same time, for some reason, I understand this pain as if I once experienced it, but I don’t know how or where because I haven’t experienced such a thing since birth. But the sensations felt as if I know many things.’
’I can confidently say that my past is not Earth. Since I found out that parallel worlds like this one exist, I can no longer be sure that my life on Earth was the first one.’
’But when I reach my goal, I will definitely find all the answers to my questions and, in the process, rule the universe.’
’Many think that ruling the universe is like just sitting on a throne and saying whatever you want. But no. When you finally learn all the fundamental laws of the universe, you cease to be a personality or a human. You will turn into something more than a human, perhaps like a deity. This goal is the only one into which it’s worth investing one’s resources, as it is beyond time and space, and it is not finite.’
After this reflection, he looked again at that slave girl, but she seemed not to react at all to the words of the aristocrats and Alister, who called her a resource. One could assume that she had resigned herself to life and accepted that she would always be a resource.
Although you never know what will happen in the future; someone might appear who gives light, or perhaps someone who gives a deeper abyss than you actually are right now.
But if one recalls that moment when this girl was talking to Little Mi, she was smiling-that is, it could mean that she accepted Little Mi as her friend, which makes Alister’s task of managing her easier if necessary, since you don’t know what she is really like.
"Well, in general, it can be said that this is a good sum for her. This sum suits me, and if it suits you too, I have no reason to refuse you, Mr. Gentleman. Moreover, if this strengthens our relationship in the future, then all the more so," the captain said with a smile on his face.
After that, Garrett intervened in the conversation:
"I would also like to thank you, Mr. Gentleman, for accepting my gift of the cane. To be honest, you are a unique personality; the mouth says one thing, but the eyes show nothing," immediately as he spoke of these topics, Garrett changed the subject of the conversation.
"What do you mean, Garrett?" Jonas asked in surprise, not knowing what he was talking about, to which Garrett replied to add clarity to his words.
"If you look closely at Mr. Gentleman, you will see that he speaks very politely and gentlemanly, which corresponds to his nickname and behavior. But I suddenly noticed here that his eyes, for some reason, reflect nothing-literally nothing, neither light nor anything else. Only black. Tell me, Mister, is this some kind of feature of yours?" he asked a question that essentially hit directly at Alister’s vulnerable spot-his eyes.
Since his eyes stood out from other people, and in this world, apparently, there are no such people at all, it’s easy to find out about him. It would only take Garrett telling, for example, Lucian that he saw a man with black eyes that reflect nothing at all, then he would naturally think of Alister, or more accurately, of Ruthless, who has now become Alister Vane.
’I dislike talking to Garrett more and more, but... this is very, very interesting,’ he thought, and a somewhat sinister smile appeared on his face, which those around him did not see.
"Yes, you are right, this is a feature of mine from birth, but I don’t want to go into details, as these are my personal affairs that do not concern you, gentlemen. I hope you understand me," he immediately replied, while maintaining a soft smile on his face.
"Of course, Mr. Gentleman. We have no right to dig into your personal affairs. Let’s change the subject; since you both already agree, then you should pay immediately, as you said, Mister," Garrett said, looking at Alister.
"Of course. Hey, little milady, could you call Little Mi from outside?" he immediately addressed that girl and asked.
"What.... What do you plan to do with her? I won’t allow her to be made a slave too!" she suddenly said aggressively.
