Chapter 684: Chapter 642: Holy Shit! (1)

SWOOSH—!

The sniper bullet, searing through the air and pulsing with intense energy, arrived in the blink of an eye with a faint whistle.

Although Qin Fan had ten thousand ways to brush the bullet aside mid-trajectory, he chose not to. A cold smile suddenly appeared on his somber face.

Facing the incoming bullet, he swiftly extended two fingers to pinch it from the air.

BUZZ—!

The moment Qin Fan caught the bullet, it began to spin rapidly between his fingers. Its sharp tip whirred viciously like a top, yet for all its rotation, it couldn’t advance a single inch.

This sudden, unbelievable sight stunned Ye Jizu and his entourage. Beside Qin Fan, Jiang Yino stood frozen as if struck by lightning, her eyes wide with terror.

"Boss Qin!" Seeing the sniper bullet spinning between Qin Fan’s fingers, everyone, led by Ye Jizu, cried out in alarm.

Qin Fan didn’t respond to their cries. Instead, he flicked his wrist.

SWOOSH—!

The next second, the bullet shot back along its original trajectory, its speed countless times faster than when it had left the gun barrel.

On the rooftop of a distant skyscraper, a sniper, his head completely wrapped save for his eyes, watched through his scope as the bullet flew back toward him. His pupils suddenly dilated in shock. His instincts screamed at him to dodge, to get out of the way.

But with Qin Fan having made his move, what chance did he have?

Before he could react, the spinning projectile, reflected in his widening pupils, drilled directly into the center of his forehead. It tore through his brain and exited the back of his skull. He didn’t even have time to make a sound. With his pupils contracting, his eyes stared blankly as he fell backward.

He died unable to rest in peace, never understanding what had just happened.

As he fell, his finger brushed against the rifle’s infrared laser sight. A thin beam of red light shot out in the broad daylight, its endpoint landing directly on Qin Fan.

Watching this unfold, the world-weary Ye Jizu and his men instantly understood what was happening.

A sniper!

The target: Qin Fan!

"Motherfucker!" Ye Jizu roared, his face contorted in rage like a wrathful King Kong. An assassin trying to kill Boss Qin while we’re here to welcome him? What does that mean? It means they’re completely ignoring me, Ye Jizu! It means they’re viciously slapping both me and the Ye Family in the face! Using a firearm to assassinate Qin Fan... this definitely isn’t the work of someone from the third world. But for someone not from the third world to dare such a blatant affront in Jiangzhou?

In that instant, Ye Jizu’s fury surged.

"My men!" he bellowed, his voice raw with anger.

SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!

Dozens of men and women, who had been hiding in the shadows or blending into the crowd, immediately converged on him. Panic was etched on every face. The bullet and the laser sight made it clear what had happened, yet they had only just realized it. If the target hadn’t been Boss Qin, but us... what would the consequences have been? It’s unthinkable!

"Boss Ye!" the men and women shouted in panic, quickly forming a protective circle around the group.

"I don’t care how you do it, find out who that assassin was right now!" Ye Jizu roared, his anger uncontrollable.

"Three o’clock. The skyscraper with the tempered, floor-to-ceiling glass windows. The body is still on the rooftop. If you’re late, it might get cleaned up," Qin Fan said calmly as Ye Jizu finished speaking.

With that, he gently took the still-shaken Jiang Yino by the arm, clenched his jaw, and started walking.

"Yes, Boss Qin!" Hearing his orders, the group immediately dispersed. A few remained to maintain security while the rest sprinted toward the location Qin Fan had indicated.

"Boss Qin, I’m so sorry! This was my failure!" Ye Jizu said hurriedly, following beside Qin Fan with fear and trepidation.

"It has nothing to do with you. Too many people want me dead. From the highest halls of power in the Forbidden City to the hefty bounties in the underworld, not to mention those so-called third-world folks... you can’t protect me from all of them. So, it’s not your fault. Let’s go home."

After speaking with a stoic expression, Qin Fan tightened his arm around Jiang Yino, then smiled and gently kissed her forehead. "Yinuo, it’s okay now. Don’t be afraid."

"Mhm..." Her delicate body trembled as she came back to her senses, her face pale as she responded.

She might not have experienced an assassination firsthand, but she’d certainly seen it countless times in movies. What had just unfolded before her was like a thrilling, climactic scene straight out of a film. An assassination attempt, targeting Qin Fan right as he left the airport! It happened so blatantly, right before my eyes?

Before she could dwell on it, a relieved Ye Jizu, having heard Qin Fan’s reassurance, quickly opened the door to the stretched Laisles. "Boss Qin, Miss Jiang, please!"

"Yinuo, let’s go home." With a soft smile, Qin Fan led Jiang Yino into the back seat of the Laisles.

Not letting anyone else drive, Ye Jizu took the driver’s seat himself. The others, still shaken and with lingering fear, got into their own cars. They formed a convoy, flanking the Laisles in the middle, and left the airport in a grand procession with their hazard lights flashing.

「Inside the Laisles.」

Driving at a steady pace, Ye Jizu asked, "Boss Qin, are we going straight home, or somewhere else?"

"Home," Qin Fan said, gently twirling a lock of Jiang Yino’s soft, dark hair.

"Oh, by the way, there’s one more thing, Boss Qin. The Old Master would like to invite you to our home for a casual dinner tonight. I was wondering if you might have time to come?" Ye Jizu asked, his tone a mixture of hope and apprehension as he glanced at the impassive Qin Fan in the rearview mirror.

Qin Fan didn’t answer right away. He pursed his lips thoughtfully before finally saying, "Alright. What time?"

"Would six o’clock work?" Hearing Qin Fan agree, Ye Jizu quickly replied, trying to contain his excitement.

"Fine."

"Then it’s settled! Boss Qin, I’ll come and pick you up," Ye Jizu said, his voice trembling slightly.

Though it was just a casual meal, he knew the conversation would inevitably turn to matters concerning the Ye Family’s future destiny. The thought made him both excited and nervous.

"No need, I’ll drive over myself. By the way, notify Ma Yunbin and Lai Shenxiang and have them come as well," Qin Fan said, shaking his head. "They were the first to follow me, and they dared to gamble their entire lives on me. I think I owe them something for their faith."

How could I not know the true purpose of Old Master Ye’s dinner invitation? But even if the old man hadn’t suggested it, Qin Fan had already planned to gather them all for a talk now that he was back in Jiangzhou.

"Yes, yes! That would be wonderful!" Since they were all in the same boat, Ye Jizu happily and quickly agreed to Qin Fan’s suggestion.
