Chapter 683: Chapter 641: It’s All a Gamble! (15)

"Holy shit, who’s the big shot they’re here to pick up?"

"Isn’t that the Crown Prince of Wending Group?"

"Lai Shenxiang! My God, even the grandmaster of the Southern School of Geomancy is here?"

"Patriarch Ye! Is that Patriarch Ye’s contingent?"

"It’s all of Jiangzhou’s top brass. Have they gone insane? Who in the world are they here to meet?"

"Even a provincial Governor wouldn’t get a reception like this!"

"Not even close! Someone of that rank wouldn’t be important enough for all these figures to show up together!"

Outside Jiangzhou Airport, a buzz of voices suddenly erupted. At first, the travelers were merely stunned by the rows of luxury cars. But after seeing the figures standing beside them, everyone’s jaws dropped in disbelief.

Amid the ruckus, Ye Jizu and the others said nothing, their eyes fixed intently on the airport exit.

"Old Ye, wasn’t the flight supposed to land at two? Why haven’t we seen anyone yet? Should we call Master Qin and check?" Ma Yunbin asked anxiously from beside Ye Jizu.

"Have you forgotten how flights work? Delays are common! Just wait, there’s no need to call," Ye Jizu said, his gaze never straying from the exit.

"Dad, my idol is so freaking awesome! Those two songs he sang at the Jinling University New Year’s Eve party got uploaded online, and they already have millions of views! He’s become a star overnight, damn! It’s a shame the camera didn’t catch his girlfriend, so we couldn’t see what she looks like. Such a pity!" Ye Haoyuan lamented, shoving his phone back into his pocket.

"Girlfriend?"

At his words, Ye Jizu and Ma Yunbin exclaimed reflexively, momentarily forgetting that Qin Fan’s rampage at the Jinling Mansion had been sparked by his fury for a woman.

Hearing this, however, Ye Xuan’s brow furrowed, and a flicker of disappointment inexplicably crossed her eyes. She quickly pursed her lips into a bitter, self-deprecating smile.

What does it matter to me if Qin Fan has a girlfriend? The age gap between us makes anything impossible! It wouldn’t change a thing even if I threw myself at him! A two or three-year difference might be manageable, but a four or five-year gap is an uncrossable chasm!

She knew why her grandfather had asked her to come to the airport, but it now seemed entirely pointless.

Still, this is for the best. Now that Qin Fan has a girlfriend, it might finally put an end to Grandfather’s ideas.

"Yeah, definitely a girlfriend! He confessed his feelings in front of thousands of people. With my idol’s status, he wouldn’t say things like that if he was just playing around! He even brought up the story of Supreme Treasure and Zixia. The look of deep affection on his face was enough to move me to tears!" Ye Haoyuan declared nonchalantly.

Although his family environment had made him far more mature than his peers, he was still a teenager at heart. When speaking of Qin Fan, he felt reverence, but it wasn’t as profound or direct as the awe felt by Ye Jizu and Ma Yunbin.

"Haha! This is excellent news! Now that Master Qin has a girlfriend, he’ll probably settle down a bit!" Lai Zhuge, who was standing nearby, laughed in hearty approval.

However, the comment made Ye Jizu and Ma Yunbin instantly recall the incident with the Bo Family at the Jinling Mansion. Could they be talking about that girl, Jiang Yino? If so, given Qin Fan’s willingness to fly into a rage for his beloved, he was far from settling down. In fact, it meant there was now one more taboo that must never be crossed.

As they discussed Qin Fan taming his nature, they couldn’t possibly imagine that such a concept was utterly irrelevant to him. As a Cultivator of the Golden Core Stage, he viewed the entire mortal world and its inhabitants as mere ants. Why would he ever need to restrain himself? No! To repay kindness and take revenge without hesitation, to crush this realm underfoot, to strike terror into all of creation—that was the true nature of the Shura Venerable!

"He’s out! Master Qin is out!"

Suddenly, as Ye Jizu and the others were lost in thought, a super-rich scion who served as Ma Yunbin’s lackey shouted out.

At his cry, every eye swept toward the airport exit. Upon seeing Qin Fan’s face, they all straightened their postures. They didn’t approach immediately, instead watching as he walked out, accompanied by Jiang Yino, who radiated an aura of pure innocence.

"Whoa, is some major figure about to arrive?" Jiang Yino, whose hand was held by Qin Fan, exclaimed in astonishment as she saw the extravagant motorcade with flashing lights and the dignified, powerful-looking people standing before the cars. She even turned her head to look behind them.

"Yinuo, don’t look. They’re here for me," Qin Fan said, a faint, sly smile playing on his lips.

"What? They’re here for you?" Jiang Yino’s eyes widened in disbelief. Those elites, spanning the old, middle-aged, and young generations, were here to pick up Qin Fan?

Her first thought was that it was impossible! She didn’t know who those people were, but one glance was enough to tell they all exuded an intimidating aura that made one want to keep a respectful distance. That, combined with the fleet of supercars, proved their status was anything but simple. And for people from three different generations to gather like this... all to greet a college freshman? It just didn’t seem possible. But would Qin Fan joke about something like this?

Jiang Yino’s certainty began to waver.

Just then, as she was reeling in shock, Ye Jizu took the lead and stepped forward. Seeing this, the rest of the group followed in lockstep.

"Lord Qin!"

"Idol!"

"Master Qin!"

They stopped about three meters from Qin Fan, their voices filled with either deep respect or outright adoration. Their shouts drew countless stares and prompted just as many people to start recording with their phones. But Ye Jizu and the others couldn’t care less.

"At such a high-profile and sensitive time, you’re all making such a grand display. Are you picking a side? Making a statement?" Qin Fan nodded slightly, his eyes glancing at the people filming before sweeping meaningfully over the assembled group.

"The Old Master said that the Ye Family gambled for everything it has today! He’s been gambling since the day he first picked up a rifle and went to war! He said since he’s been winning for most of his life, he doesn’t mind rolling the dice one more time!" Ye Jizu replied, his voice grave and solemn.

"And you?" Qin Fan smiled faintly, then turned to Ma Yunbin and Lai Zhuge, raising a teasing eyebrow.

"A man with one foot in the grave has nothing left to fear or worry about, haha!" Lai Zhuge boomed, his voice full of vigor.

"Since the moment I left Beijing, I’ve only represented myself! They can’t interfere with me!" On this matter, Ma Yunbin dropped his usual cavalier attitude, his voice firm and resolute.

"Good," Qin Fan nodded with a soft chuckle.

He didn’t bother asking the other dignitaries who had followed Ye Jizu, Ma Yunbin, and Lai Zhuge. There was no need. Everyone who showed up today was undoubtedly making a gamble—a gamble on the rest of their lives.

However, just after he spoke, Qin Fan’s expression abruptly turned as cold as ice.

To everyone’s shock, he whipped his head around, his gaze locking onto a rooftop hundreds of meters away.

In that same instant, a red light, so faint it was nearly invisible, flickered to life.

In the next 0.01 seconds, a sniper bullet tore through the air, howling with terrifying power as it surged directly toward Qin Fan’s head.
