Chapter 248: Elder Derek turns Serious
Tier 2, Circle of Element!
That was Bahamut’s current tier. Something that a normal person would achieve with years of training had been achieved in less than a month of ascending to Tier 2. Unfortunately, most of his elements were unusable in this battle because he hadn’t trained with them or had beasts to fill the gaps. But it wasn’t anything too bad. He was sure that Elder Silvia would have gotten news of what was happening by now. He had noticed the small scale she kept as part of the letter. For whatever reason it was for, from the power he felt from it, he was sure it was connected to her in some way. Her aura was all over it. Plus, although Elder Silvia hadn’t shown him much, he knew she wasn’t someone to take things lightly, especially a sudden quest that was requested for him. If this wasn’t suspicious, then what was?
X’Uric wasn’t minding him otherwise; this battle would’ve ended in a second. X’Uric was beyond a Tier 3 beast. The system made him sure of it, but the guy wasn’t minding him. He had even closed his contract space! Just how was that possible? But he understood X’Uric in some way. This was a hurdle he must surpass. You don’t become strong by letting others fight for you. Even with all the advantages the system gave him over others, there were certain things a system message showing a level up couldn’t fix. And one of them was his current battle with the homosexual elder.
Bahamut had thrown all caution to the wind. He didn’t mind if people found out that he was a chimera or a monster. This was a matter of life and death. Even if he could resurrect after dying, dying wasn’t something pleasant. Besides, what if it doesn’t work, or what if it takes a long time to work? This crazy elf could use his body for all kinds of atrocities! He shivered just from thinking that.
Derek shot towards him with a light whip in his hand. He was so fast that Bahamut’s reinforced eyes and senses almost failed to locate him. At the last moment, the fox tails on him switched into a long and heavy dark blue scaly tail. It whipped, tearing the air like paper, and slammed into the flying elder.
PAH! BANG!
A loud sound rang out like a gunshot as Derek was thrown off course into the crumbling inn. Bahamut didn’t stay idle. He raised his hand, mana gathering around him as the dust in the surroundings gathered above him. He was using one of the moves of Nagini. He did not need to create his when he had a beast who could use the earth element. The sand clamped together, transforming into a dark brown sand spike that spun rapidly, increasing speed by the second.
BOOOOOOOOM!
The spike shot toward Derek, who had just gotten out of the rubble. It hit him, pushing him further into the rubble. He had reacted quickly, conjuring wings of light to block the attack while he used wind to flash out of the way. Bahamut’s feet turned into white lion paws while his arms turned into the bulky muscles of a bear. He turned in an instant as a long whip of light and wind tried to wrap around him. His hands shot quickly and grabbed the whip with water coating them. He grunted lightly and pulled.
Derek, who thought he’d gotten Bahamut, found himself being pulled toward him at a forceful speed. Wings of wind burst out of his back, trying to break the pull, but Bahamut moved faster. His legs vanished in speed, and the next thing Derek saw was a punch heading for his face. His expression turned grim as the attack moved in slow motion. His blue eyes slowly turned golden as his expression became cold.
"I can still use him, even if he dies," he whispered coldly as a suffocating aura burst from, blowing Bahamut back. Elder Derek had gotten serious. And that was evident from what was happening: a zone of light and wind elements. Tier 3 was known as the Demigod realm for a reason. A weak Tier 3 being had the Body Forgery trait, which allowed their body to be tempered by their elements, attaining an elemental body. The next trait was Elemental Extension, where they didn’t just cast spells or skills, but their elements could react on their own to aid, just like the wind wings and the light wings. They focused on defending their user from attacks. The last trait was zone creation that could reach up to a kilometer. The place would become a full elemental zone, controlled by the user.
The air trembled violently as Elder Derek slowly rose into the sky, his golden eyes glowing brighter and brighter until they resembled miniature suns. Wind spiraled around his body in violent currents while countless particles of light gathered into rings behind him. The entire Oasis District began shaking. Bahamut’s expression darkened. This was the true power of a Tier 3. Absolute domination over the environment itself.
Derek spread his arms slowly.
"Welcome..." The wind screamed as golden light exploded outward. "...to my Heavenstorm Sanctuary."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
A colossal zone erupted from him instantly. The skies turned gold and white. Hurricanes of radiant wind spiraled around the district while countless glowing feathers materialized in the air like divine blades. The pressure became suffocating. Gravity itself seemed distorted within the zone. Every gust of wind cut like blades. Every ray of light burned like judgment. The ground under Bahamut cracked instantly as pressure descended from all directions simultaneously.
CRACK!
"Ghk—!" He dropped to one knee, blood leaking from the corner of his mouth. The zone wasn’t just attacking him physically: it was suppressing him entirely. Derek descended slowly amidst the storm, looking almost divine.
"You should be honored," he said softly, though madness still lingered behind his smile. The feathers around him shifted. Thousands pointed toward Bahamut simultaneously.
"You made me serious."
Bahamut’s claws dug into the ground.
