Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Like-minded Individuals
In the nick of time, a flash of inspiration struck Edward’s mind. He screamed:
"Ian! Ian!"
The beastman’s constricting grip suddenly halted. He grabbed Edward, shaking the snake frantically: "Did you just call the name Ian? You know him??? No, that’s not right! You must have eavesdropped on my conversation. You don’t know who Ian is at all, you truly are from the cunning snake clan!!!"
Edward was shaken so hard his brain almost flew out. He could only pant, gasping out a few broken words: "Ian... Black... Black Rabbit..."
The hand shaking Edward suddenly stopped, stiffening as if inhaling Anesthetic Flowers. Arthur was a bit unsteady on his feet, staggering over to the stone table and setting Edward down. As soon as he was released, Edward stuck his head over the edge of the table, gagging and retching continuously.
Dinner and stomach acid both poured out. It took a while before Edward could breathe normally again. He felt a bit wronged mixed with panic. He was still just a little snake who hadn’t been out of his shell for long, why did he have to constantly face all sorts of bad luck like this?!
"Huhu, Papa, Daddy~ I want to go home~ Waa waa huhuhu!"
The little snake opened his mouth and wailed pitifully. This was the first time he had cried since hatching. The Black Wolf felt a bit guilty, and fearing that Edward’s cries would be heard by others, he waved his hand to envelop the room in a cage of light.
He clumsily coaxed Edward, but the more he tried, the louder the boy cried. At his wit’s end, the Black Wolf had to rummage through the room and his leather pouch, placing everything useful he could find in front of Edward.
The little snake’s crying gradually softened, completely stopping after a while, leaving only aggrieved sniffles. He looked at the mountain of items in front of him and used his tail to sweep them away. The bindings on Edward had been retracted by Arthur earlier, so he casually slithered down from the table, intending to crawl into the mouse hole to get outside.
This mouse hole had already been dismantled; perhaps the Black Wolf beastman had silently removed it while Edward was still in the resonance space.
"Where are you planning to go? I know I wronged you, and you being angry with me is not to blame. It’s just that it’s almost dawn now, and you won’t make it back in time if you go; I will take you back later."

Edward turned his head to look back at the beastman, seeing that the corners of Arthur’s eyes were slightly red, as if the man had just been secretly crying. He thought for a moment, then slithered back.
"Your name is Arthur, right? My name is Edward; you can call me little snake like everyone else does."
"Hello, Edward. I am very curious, why did a little snake like you wander all the way here and become the Grand Holy Son? You are here, so where is that little white tiger?"
Hearing Arthur mention Wofu, Edward’s voice became sad: "That’s not a little white tiger, he is already an adult. It’s just that because he encountered a slight accident, he regressed. My uncle is missing, I am looking for him right now."
Arthur narrowed his eyes. If a beastman regressed to their juvenile form, there was no way they could provide ’bedchamber service’, unless that white tiger also had Divine Blood like this little snake.
Edward tilted his head up again and asked: "How did you conceal your Divine Energy? Among those who have Divine Blood, we can usually sense each other’s Divine Energy, yet before you activated your Divine Energy, I couldn’t sense anything at all."
Arthur lifted Edward onto the table, preventing him from tilting his head up for too long and getting a sore neck. He lowered his head and said:
"This is the special characteristic of the Light element Divine Energy; it can conceal the body without a trace. You still haven’t told me why you came to this place? This is truly not a place where a child like you should appear."
Edward smacked his tail against the stone table surface, speaking indignantly: "My uncle and I are both of the Spatial element, and purely because of an accident during a rank advancement, we were teleported to the Northern Continent. When we were trying to find our way back, we were caught by the Temple Master... ah no, that Evil God. He used a charm art on us, and because my mental strength is quite high, I was able to resist it, but my uncle wasn’t so lucky.
I had to pretend that I also fell for the trick, returning to the Temple with them, trying to think of a way to save my uncle. But my uncle went missing; that Evil God said he took him away to advance his rank, and since that day, I haven’t seen him again."
After speaking, Edward felt his nose tingle a bit, and he sniffled, saying: "My Papa and Daddy are on their way here from the Southern Continent to save us. Their strength is still too low, and I was afraid they would run into danger, so I risked my life to steal a cultivation technique to send to them."
The Black Wolf beastman extended a finger and poked the little snake’s forehead, saying in dissatisfaction: "You yourself are in dire straits, yet you still dare to wander around recklessly. Do you not know what fear is?!"
Edward sheepishly flicked his forked tongue out, then changed the subject:
"Uncle Arthur, you are looking for Uncle Ian, right? Is it the Black Rabbit Uncle Ian with a crescent moon shape on his forehead? What is your relationship with him?"
Arthur nodded, letting out a long, drawn-out sigh: "We are both from the Oakstone tribe and grew up together. When the Temple’s order to hunt down variants was passed down, I took Ian out of the tribe. We had agreed to meet at the Oakstone valley, but when I arrived, he was already gone.

I looked for him for a very long time, but still couldn’t find him anywhere. Later on, I joined the Beast City’s guard squad, and was then selected to be a Guard of the Temple."
Edward tilted his head: "Where did you search? Have you searched in the magical beast forest and on the other side of the magical beast forest?"
"I have searched there, but couldn’t find him."
Edward shook his head: "Oh my, perhaps you two missed each other. Uncle Ian was just saved by my clansmen a few months ago, and he was granted a special exception to become a member of the Crimson tribe."
"Crimson tribe? Never heard of it." Arthur frowned, trying to search his memory for this tribe. As a result, he couldn’t recall anything.
Edward smiled and said: "Of course, our tribe is just a low-tier tribe, previously located on this side of the magical beast forest. After the snow disaster, everyone crossed the magical beast forest and settled down on that side permanently. My Daddy is the Chief, and my Papa is the Priest of Crimson!"
Mentioning his two fathers, Edward puffed out his chest with full pride. Arthur frowned again and asked:
"What levels have your two fathers currently reached?"
Edward felt a pang of guilt: "Well... one is level six, and the other is level six point five."
Arthur was speechless. With that level, coming to the Northern Continent would only make them plant fertilizer!
He then found a loophole in Edward’s words and asked curiously: "You can contact them?"
Edward nodded: "Yes, my younger brother Ryder and I have a resonance space; every night, as long as we go to sleep, we can meet each other. They will pass my words on to our fathers, and our fathers also give me instructions through them."
After speaking, he paused for a moment: "Oh right, Uncle Ian has left the tribe to go to your old tribe to look for something; calculating the time, he is about to meet my two fathers soon. Do you have anything you want to say to him? I can pass the message for you."
Arthur’s fists clenched slightly, then he slowly said: "Just tell him to wait for me at the Crimson tribe. Once I finish dealing with this Evil God, I will return to meet him."
Then he added: "You should also tell your two fathers to go back. Recently, that Evil God has become increasingly unrestrained; it seems like he is about to do something evil. With your fathers’ levels, coming here is just courting death.

Before taking action, I will help you find that uncle of yours, then get you both out. You guys should take the opportunity to blend in with the people coming to participate in the Spring Festival and return to the Southern Continent."
Edward thought to himself that if his two fathers were that obedient, he wouldn’t have had to worry about them so much that he went to steal a cultivation technique. He chatted with Arthur for a while longer, trying to gather more information.
Because they were both like-minded individuals, Arthur didn’t hide anything from Edward either; he told the boy everything he knew. As dawn was breaking, Arthur took out the wooden tag engraved with Edward’s concealment array and channeled a bit of Light element Magical Energy into it.
The power within the array immediately multiplied.
Edward’s eyes lit up brightly, feeling that Arthur was even more suited to creating concealment arrays than he was. He then proposed:
"When you have time, try to get your hands on a batch of Magical Stones with slightly better quality; I’ll engrave the concealment array and you can reinforce it, that way the chances of a successful escape will be higher."
Arthur heard this and also felt it made sense: "Alright, let’s decide on that."
After speaking, he put the array on, and the two of them, one big and one small, just like that disappeared from the room.
A gust of wind swept by, and the beastman guard shivered slightly, muttering: "Where did that wind come from?"
Edward was placed onto the bed by Arthur, and the moment he touched the surface of the bed, the little snake’s body appeared. He felt a hand patting his head, followed by another passing breeze, and the warm sensation on his head immediately vanished.
Edward slightly raised his head to look towards the door, then peacefully closed his eyes, unable to stop the joy welling up in his heart.
He had an ally now! In this man-eating place, he no longer had to fight all alone!
