Chapter 867 - Turning in the Mission
Han Wu felt the threads of faith connecting to him and was pleasantly surprised. As a god, he immediately recognized what they were: proof that they had become his believers.
Gaining several hundred million believers at once was a reward he hadn’t expected. The Faith Points they generated on a daily basis alone would accumulate into a substantial fortune over time.
Moreover, these believers of the lost continent could transform into the monstrous undead. Their combat power was nothing to underestimate. Combined with the treasures from all three paths, this expedition to the lost continent had been an absolute jackpot.
Han Wu closed his eyes and sensed hundreds of millions of glowing points across the continent. Each point represented an inhabitant and served as proof that he now held complete control over this land. Some points were large and bright, while others appeared small and dim. The differences reflected their strength. The brightest point of all lay buried in the rubble of the ruins.
Han Wu smirked. Evilspawn had accidentally become a member of the lost continent, which explained why he kept returning from the dead. That was both his luck and curse.
Every inhabitant was a potential believer that Han Wu could cultivate. Someone as powerful as Evilspawn would generate Faith Points measured in Divine Essence once properly converted. Yet when Han Wu checked Evilspawn’s faith, he found almost nothing. Evilspawn had virtually zero devotion toward his new god.
So that’s how you wanna play? Refusing to worship the new God?
Using his authority as the new God, Han Wu teleported directly above the ruins. He raised a hand, and every piece of rubble floated into the air, revealing Evilspawn painfully crawling through the debris below.
With a flick of his finger, Han Wu levitated Evilspawn into the air. The latter had fully regained his senses and was no longer affected by the emotional energy, but he hadn’t grasped the situation yet. He didn’t know who was in charge now.
When he saw Han Wu, he shouted. “Give me your blade, and I’ll forgive your offenses!”
Han Wu burst out laughing. He was the new God of the lost continent. What offenses could he possibly have committed? Even if there were offenses, they were the world’s fault, not his.
Evilspawn saw Han Wu laughing and grew furious. He felt mocked, and he was absolutely right. Han Wu was mocking him.
“Fight me one on one! The winner takes the blade!” Evilspawn roared.
Han Wu shook his head. “The one thing I hate most is fighting one on one. Why would I fight you myself when I can have everyone attack you instead?”
He summoned all his units. Jing Jing, the Origin of Mutation, and V arrived as well. Outside the lost continent, the main army received the signal from an avatar and brought the ship to dock.
“Beat him. Keep beating him until he worships me as a Zealot,” Han Wu ordered.
Steely moved first. He possessed the greatest overall combat power among Han Wu’s units and was one of Han Wu’s most devout Saints. He would never tolerate a heretic who refused to worship Han Wu.
Evilspawn unleashed his power and fought back. For a while, the two were evenly matched. However, Evilspawn was one of the Three Armies, and his specialty lay in warfare and raw combat strength. Gradually, he forced Steely backward.
Just as he was about to land a killing blow, Steely activated the ability he had gained on the lost continent, the second hand. Time froze around Evilspawn for one second. Within that single second, Steely’s hundred arms slashed in a blur. The storm of blade winds reduced Evilspawn to shredded remains.
Unfortunately for Evilspawn, he was now an inhabitant of the lost continent. Han Wu blew the key again, and Evilspawn revived, utterly confused. The memory of being cut to pieces still lingered in his mind. What greeted him immediately afterward was another onslaught from Steely.
After watching the battle, Han Wu noticed that Steely’s attacks had grown sharper. After just a single fight, Steely had visibly improved. What would happen after a hundred rounds? A thousand?
Han Wu looked forward to finding out. He instructed the rest of his units to line up and take turns one at a time. If they couldn’t beat him alone, they were free to call their friends and gang up on him together.
Afterward, he left an avatar behind to supervise. Its task was simple: blow the key the moment Evilspawn died and ensure his immediate revival.
Evilspawn had officially become a training dummy. Han Wu also planned to bring his core race, the locusts, to train against Evilspawn. More specifically, he wanted them to refine Formation Might by using him as practice. Under his careful arrangements, he was confident that Evilspawn’s future would become a living hell.
With the lost continent’s matter settled, Han Wu prepared to return to the Divine Civilization. Jing Jing needed time to absorb the crystals that contained the power of emotions, so she stayed behind.
Han Wu welcomed her decision. Although the lost continent was his territory now, it hadn’t been formally certified yet. It needed a strong defender.
His top priority was returning to the Divine Civilization, submitting his mission report, and officially registering the lost continent. Only then could he avoid becoming a target for the other Gods.
As for the possibility of strong fighters from foreign civilization coming to cause trouble, that was harder to predict. Still, Han Wu was fairly certain that more than ninety percent of them wouldn’t bother traveling all the way to the edge of the Divine Civilization to cause trouble. If things went badly, they could easily end up becoming part of the Divine Civilization’s newest border.
Han Wu returned quickly by ship and simultaneously submitted his exploration report to the Death, Wisdom, Wealth, and War Factions.
The four factions responded very differently.
The Death Faction replied, “Good work. Reward issued.”
They also asked whether Han Wu would be willing to sell or lease the key to them so their researchers could study how to convert living beings into undead and then restore them again. If they succeeded, the Death Faction’s overall power would increase by at least fifty percent.
The Wisdom Faction replied, “Outstanding work, prodigy. Apply for any reward you want. Submit a sample of the lost civilization’s writings to the Wisdom Tower for other members to study.”
The Wealth Faction replied, “Well done. Reward issued.”
They also asked whether Han Wu would consider selling the lost continent to them or entering a joint development agreement that would split the profits equally.
The War Faction was the only one that reacted differently. “What the hell? We sent you to explore, and you used the mission as an excuse to claim the entire lost continent for yourself? Now you want a reward? Forget it!”
The War God King personally contacted Han Wu. He insisted that, as one of the War Faction’s Three Armies, Han Wu should demonstrate the spirit of selflessness. He demanded Han Wu hand over the lost continent and the key. In return, the War Faction would grant him higher honors and better treatment. He also demanded tHan Wu release Evilspawn.
Zhong Heng absolutely didn’t want to hold another Grand War Game soon after the last one.
Han Wu smiled at Zhong Heng’s demands and blocked him. He couldn’t care less about staying in the War Faction.
