Chapter 866 - New God

Han Wu’s mind was in chaos as he transformed. It felt as though innumerable personalities were screaming inside his head. His skull was going to burst. Needing time to adapt to this mental shift, Han Wu stopped moving.

The will seized the opportunity to reattach itself to Evilspawn and attack Han Wu. Evilspawn transformed into a monster again. His bony tail lashed toward Han Wu like a whip, tearing away large chunks of flesh with every strike.

Pain jolted Han Wu into action. The swarm of emotion-born personalities in his mind couldn’t stay. He was going to purge every last one of them.

“Avatar Creation!”

A human-shaped Han Wu jumped out from behind the monstrous version. He had used Avatar Creation to trap the chaos of new personalities inside the monstrous shell. Stripped of most of Han Wu’s power, the monstrous avatar’s strength plummeted. One tail whip from Evilspawn reduced it to scattered chunks of meat.

The real Han Wu swung Peerless down on the coffin. This time, the blade punched a hole clean through. The will screamed in agony, and Evilspawn’s body convulsed violently.

Han Wu pressed the advantage and continued attacking the coffin with Peerless. Even Umbral Mouse joined in, holding V in cannon form and firing a concentrated energy beam straight at the coffin. The lid was scorched black.

The will’s screams reached their peak. Extreme pain and hatred accelerated Evilspawn’s monstrous transformation in a sharp burst, but Han Wu unleashed Steelcutter onto the coffin before the change could settle. Razor-sharp wind blades sliced the charred wood into pieces, and the stored emotional energy within was all released at once.

That energy was the will’s true body. As it dissipated, the will’s power faded with it. Evilspawn’s transformation halted, then reversed rapidly and dissolved, leaving his true form unconscious on the ground.

Beside him, the will manifested as a shadow that became increasingly transparent until it vanished entirely. All that remained on the ground was the trumpet-shaped object. Umbral Mouse was quick to snatch it up and hand it to Han Wu.

Shockingly, this object was a divine artifact that could also function as a Rank 8 Sacred Object. Its effect was simple but extraordinary. When blown, it forced living beings to transform into undead. Any injuries sustained while undead were frozen in stasis—neither worsening nor healing—though the undead itself would still function at full capacity.

This meant a single fighter could effectively serve as two separate combat units, with each form having distinct “health bars,” so to speak. Han Wu was overjoyed. This was an exceptional Sacred Object!

Unfortunately, his Core was already loaded with the Heart Eater set. There was no room for it. While he had an auxiliary divine realm Core that had been given as a reward, it was only level five and couldn’t support this Rank 8 item.

In the end, he stashed it in his spatial storage to figure out once he returned to the Divine Civilization. After securing the treasure, Han Wu looked down at Evilspawn.

He couldn’t understand how Evilspawn was even alive. He had killed him. Dark Locust had even devoured the body whole. Yet here he was, possessed by the will on the Present path. If not for his interference, Han Wu was certain he would’ve cleared this path much faster.

Soon after, the other two avatars finally arrived and merged back into the main body. Han Wu recovered all of his strength, becoming a more or less complete version of himself again.

Jing Jing, Steely, and the Origin of Mutation also rejoined the group.

The Origin of Mutation eyed the burial chamber. “I’m surprised this place didn’t blow up after you cleared it.”

The moment those words left its mouth, the chamber started splitting open. Cracks ran through the walls. It was going to collapse.

Han Wu couldn’t help but curse the Origin of Mutation for jinxing it. The Origin of Mutation was equally speechless. It was just an offhand remark! It was a genetics expert, not some kind of prophet. The chamber’s timing was truly impeccable.

Unfortunately, it seemed the chamber was fully committed to collapsing on itself without giving them a second to prepare. The Present path crumbled alongside the other two paths. The ruins were turning into dust and rubble.

Han Wu led everyone toward the exit at full speed. Getting buried alive was not an option. Even at their strength, being trapped under a mountain of rubble would severely limit their possibility of escape. No one spared so much as a thought for Evilspawn as they fled.

At the same time, a piece of rubble fell on Evilspawn's head.

“Where am I?” he mumbled groggily.

Opening his eyes, he abruptly noticed the chamber collapsing around him and snapped awake. As he tried to get up and escape, another massive stone dropped squarely on his skull. His physical resilience was formidable, but the will’s possession had drained him severely enough that a single rock was enough to split his head open and knock him unconscious again.

The ruins collapsed behind Han Wu’s group just as they escaped. The inverted pyramid crumbled into rubble.

Han Wu didn’t care that Evilspawn hadn’t made it out. Enemies like him didn’t deserve his mercy. This mattered little anyway, as Han Wu had since realized that Evilspawn was now a member of the lost continent.

The lost continent’s will had brought him back after Han Wu killed him the first time. Any life saved by that will automatically became part of the lost continent. Having obtained the will’s “key”—the trumpet-shaped object—Han Wu had essentially become the owner of the lost continent.

Han Wu took out the key and blew it. The eerie sound spread across the entire continent. Every monster that heard it reverted to its original form. At the same time, memories from their lost years came flooding back. Many residents of the lost continent broke down in tears.

They had made it through this terrible ordeal. Turning toward the source of the sound, they knelt in worship. Han Wu had blown the horn and freed their memories. In their eyes, he was their new God.
