Chapter 862 - Past, Present, Future

Evilspawn had never been particularly smart. After turning into a monster, his intelligence declined even further. He charged forward repeatedly, only for the guardian shadow to knock him back each time. The shadow’s attacks weren’t especially powerful and couldn’t actually wound the monstrous Evilspawn, but they kept him outside.

Drool hung from Evilspawn’s chin as he stared at Peerless in Han Wu’s hand. With his mind gone, he couldn’t recognize Han Wu, yet his obsession with Peerless was still present. That desperate craving caused the dense special energy inside him to spread further, making him grow even stronger.

Han Wu watched him with curiosity. What on earth has Evilspawn gone through to end up like this?

V warned, “We need to kill him quickly. He will keep growing stronger if we don’t.”

From V’s compiled reports, Han Wu had learned that emotions and personality traits could be converted into power on this lost continent. If they let Evilspawn continue to rampage unchecked, he would grow without limit.

By the next worship cycle, Evilspawn could become strong enough to break through. If that happened, Han Wu would be in serious trouble. It was better to strike first.

“Then let me give it a try!” Han Wu said.

He gathered energy and swung Peerless, unleashing Stellar Rain Slash. Countless energy blades condensed behind him and surged outward like a river of cutting blades aimed at the monstrous Evilspawn.

The shadow blocking the entrance only prevented things from entering. It had no interest in what left the ruins.

The barrage of energy blades stabbed into Evilspawn and pushed him back 100 meters. Huge chunks of flesh were sheared from his monstrous frame. The injuries were severe, but pain only fueled his anger.

Evilspawn roared, and the power of his rage triggered a third transformation. The wounds from the slash healed instantly, while grotesque limbs sprouted from his torso, twisting him into a form that no longer resembled a humanoid life form.

The transformation made Evilspawn even more powerful. He charged at the ruins again. This time, the shadow’s strike failed to push him back. Instead, he smashed right through the shadow and forced his way into the ruins.

Even Han Wu had to admit how impressive Evilspawn was. He had spent a day yesterday trying to break into the ruins and failed. Yet Evilspawn had accomplished it today through sheer brute force alone.

V kept his eyes fixed on Evilspawn and cross-referenced the information he had gathered to find a weakness.

“His weak point is fifty centimeters below his heart!” V said suddenly.

After compiling all available data and observing Evilspawn for so long, V had reached his conclusion through calculations. Han Wu trusted the result completely. He raised Peerless again and channeled energy toward the exact spot V had identified.

“Skypiercer!”

Evilspawn gathered his strength and lunged just as Han Wu unleashed Skypiercer. A spinning spike of concentrated energy drilled directly into the monster’s weak point. The spiraling force inflicted devastating damage. It blasted a gaping hole straight through Evilspawn’s monstrous frame.

Evilspawn collapsed, and his grotesque limbs rapidly dissolved, revealing his true form. He looked dead.

Han Wu walked over and prodded the corpse with Peerless. Only after confirming there was no response did he exhale. Evilspawn was finally dealt with.

He searched the corpse and found nothing of value aside from a few colorful high-purity crystals. He suspected that Evilspawn had come here naked.

Who goes on an expedition without bringing a single treasure? A person like this deserves to die without anyone collecting the body! Frustrated, Han Wu summoned Dark Locust and had him devour Evilspawn’s corpse. He intended to squeeze out every last drop of value.

What Han Wu failed to notice was a single drop of Evilspawn’s blood left on the ground where he had fallen. It had escaped Dark Locust’s consumption.

After dealing with Evilspawn, Han Wu caught up with Jing Jing and the others, who were battling the shadow guarding the entrance to the ruins.

This shadow was far stronger, at least Heavenrender rank. It only defended and never attacked, yet it could easily block and deflect any assault. Even Jing Jing and Steely working together couldn’t break through it.

Having witnessed Evilspawn shatter a shadow through brute force, Han Wu understood that the shadows weren’t invincible. He called Jing Jing and Steely back before unsheathing Peerless and gathering his energy once more. This time, he chose the slash with the highest single-target damage output.

“Skypiercer!”

The spinning spike collided with the Heavenrender shadow. No matter how hard the shadow resisted, it couldn’t divert the spike. The spiraling force drilled straight through and shattered it.

The group rushed inside. Within three seconds, the entrance sealed itself and returned to its original state. The shadow reformed to guard the door but made no move against those who had already entered.

At last, they could explore the interior of the ruins. They advanced deeper inside and soon arrived at a junction where three paths branched in different directions. Each path bore a sign: Past, Present, and Future.

Three paths, three signs. Which one to choose?

Everyone looked at Han Wu. He waved a hand and chose all of them.

Using Avatar Creation, he split into three avatars. The first carried the Slaughter Jurisdiction along with Divine Authority 1 and took the left path marked Past. The second carried the Conversion Jurisdiction along with Divine Authority 2 and took the right path marked Future. The third carried the fully developed Duel Jurisdiction and wielded Peerless. It took the middle path marked Present.

Jing Jing chose to bring four Bone Dragons and follow the Past Han Wu. Steely and the Origin of Mutation followed the Future Han Wu. Dark Locust, V, and Umbral Mouse accompanied the Present Han Wu. With that decided, all three teams set out simultaneously to uncover the lost ruins’ secrets.

Outside, the sky had darkened. The eerie sound echoed once more. Throughout the lost continent, every living being transformed into monsters and resumed slaughtering one another.

Inside the ruins, within a patch of bushes, a single drop of blood reacted to that eerie sound. It rapidly expanded and split before eventually forming a wild, muscular body.

Evilspawn awakened from his daze. Where am I? What happened to me? What am I supposed to do?

Then he remembered Han Wu. “I remember now. Where is Han Wu? I’m going to kill him!”

Fragments of his memory returned, and Evilspawn started frantically searching for Han Wu until his gaze landed on the ruins’ entrance.
