Chapter 81: Chapter 80: Plasticized Statue of Comir
Qin Xiaoxia extended his senses through the Secret Realm.
South Wind and the other two must have been exhausted lately, and the food hadn’t been very good either.
The three of them were now sleeping like logs, their snores thunderous.
To ensure their rest wasn’t disturbed, Qin Xiaoxia willed the Secret Realm to isolate each of the three young men’s rooms.
Doudou muttered under his breath from behind a pillar.
"Let’s hope they don’t wake up needing the bathroom soon. Hmm, I don’t think there are any bottles in their rooms..."
Qin Xiaoxia heard the little guy’s words as clear as day, but he chose to ignore them.
’An opportunity for the young men to temper their bladders.’
Around two in the morning, the Secret Realm, under careful control, slowly released its days-long isolation. Pure starlight streamed in through the circular openings in the grand hall’s ceiling.
The power weaving the Secret Realm spread a thin, crystalline film across the top of the hall. It acted like a special convex lens, gathering the starlight.
Unlike a normal convex lens, however, the starlight wasn’t focused into a single point. Instead, it formed a pillar of light that completely enveloped the Statue of Comir, which was now just one step away from completion.
"Doudou, stay sharp. Don’t fall asleep. If the Order Gravity actually attracts something, use the Secret Realm to isolate it."
As a representation of one of the Six Great Powers of Order, the process of the Statue of Comir’s completion would attract two types of extreme beings: those who yearn for order and those who embody chaos.
The former, despite their inclination toward order, pose a great threat to the statue’s creator. The latter pose a threat to both the statue’s completion and its creator.
In short, both were deadly.
Given Earth’s current environment, it was unlikely either type of extreme entity even existed here. Even if they did, the probability of one being nearby was low.
But precautions were a must, which only further highlighted the convenience of a woven Secret Realm.
"What if we can’t isolate it?"
The ever-timid Doudou asked cautiously.
"Boss, do you have a Plan B?"
"Cut the crap. If there’s an anomaly on Earth right now that even a Secret Realm can’t block, no plan is going to help us."
Doudou carefully used his own meager Magic Power to connect with the Secret Realm Technique Qin Xiaoxia had engraved on his hand, muttering in a barely audible voice.
"But this Secret Realm is a shoddy, makeshift thing..."
Qin Xiaoxia ignored Doudou. It was impossible to make the little guy stop worrying. ’To be honest, my own heart is pounding,’ he thought. ’Comir’s reputation is just too immense.’
It was like knowing ninety percent of the questions on the final exam; who could claim they wouldn’t still be nervous walking into the test?
He took a deep breath. Ever since his Magic Power had awakened and strengthened both his body and mind, it had been a long time since he’d needed to do that to calm his nerves.
Qin Xiaoxia’s eyes fluttered shut as he began to chant in a low, vibrating Magic Language.
"Comir~ Comir~ Luolindasamin~ Comir Comir~~ Modo Isa Rami..."
The name Comir had been spoken across countless worlds for ages. It was unlikely the Order of Truth had named itself, but eons of use had forged an inseparable link, so the name was often used as a "true name" to summon order.
The Power of the World on Earth World created a strong isolating effect. Still, no matter how you looked at it, while Earth wasn’t a conventional, order-dominated environment, it couldn’t be considered a chaotic one either.
Therefore, the response Qin Xiaoxia had most feared—complete silence—never came. On the contrary, the very instant he finished the first recitation in the Magic Language...
...the woven Secret Realm, "Fall of the Red Demoness," which had been maintaining the environment of the Order of Truth, was instantly and dramatically enhanced.
GONG~~~
A tremor rippled through the very fabric of space.
WHOOSH—
Qin Xiaoxia felt the coverage of his woven Secret Realm instantly expand from the confines of the association’s compound to the acres of surrounding farmland.
And this was merely a passive expansion; the Secret Realm’s inherent "elasticity" hadn’t even been triggered.
Without a doubt, his temporary, shoddy Secret Realm had, in this moment, far surpassed the requirements for a permanent one. By how much, Qin Xiaoxia had no idea.
The pleasant surprise was so great that Qin Xiaoxia nearly lost his focus in a flash of excitement.
"Comir~ Comir~ Luolindasamin~ Comir Comir~~ Modo Isa Rami..."
The sound of Magic Power resonated throughout the entire Secret Realm, immeasurably stronger than before.
Under the Secret Realm’s amplification, the starlight enveloping the Statue of Comir grew brighter, causing the entire sculpture to radiate with a soft glow.
Its long, red hair, in particular, looked as if it were about to unfurl.
An ethereal, celestial music began to play, like a symphony of the gods.
Doudou cried out in excitement.
"Haha, the Boss is halfway there! So this is what Law Resonance sounds like! Haha, it’s my first time hearing it! I really am a well-traveled Little Elf!!"
But Doudou quickly shut up.
He and Qin Xiaoxia were both beginning to notice a faint melody mixed into the Law Resonance—the song of a Sea Siren, eerily similar to the one Qin Xiaoxia had previously borrowed within the Secret Realm.
’To hell with it all!’
Qin Xiaoxia pressed on without hesitation.
He pinched the tip of his right index finger with his thumb, and a single drop of purple-tinged blood welled up.
"Modo~ Ancient Salaman~~"
The final, low chant in the Magic Language accompanied his bloodied index finger as he pressed it to the statue’s forehead.
"In the name of a human in an unknown world, I guide the truth of order. Take form!"
These words, spoken in a human tongue, represented the creator’s identity and served to brand the Statue of Comir with the mark of his race.
The ordered environment instantly descended into chaos. A hurricane raged within the Secret Realm. If the realm hadn’t already repelled all dust, the old house would have been caught in a sandstorm.
Qin Xiaoxia didn’t dare get too close either. Now was the time to be cautious. He quietly scampered behind a pillar, joining Doudou. The two of them crouched behind their own pillars like cats hiding from danger.
This was the moment when the Order Gravity would be at its peak. All manner of malevolent spirits would take advantage of this extended period to emerge.
A minute passed. Then five.
The wind died down. Everything fell silent.
’What’s going on? Only five minutes? I thought this was supposed to take half the day!’
The ordered environment gradually returned to normal, but the Secret Realm did not revert to its original, temporary state.
The Statue of Comir remained motionless, as if the ritual to shape order had failed.
"Boss, are we screwed?"
Doudou asked in an ill-timed whisper.
"Shh! Don’t talk!"
Qin Xiaoxia glanced at Doudou, then back at the statue. Strangely, he didn’t feel any sense of foreboding.
Though it appeared unchanged, he felt it was no longer a mere sculpture.
Then, in a flash of insight, he recalled a famous proverb by Magson.
"The Side of Truth is revealed when one’s eyes are closed."
He closed his eyes, focusing his senses toward the statue.
His powerful Perception, combined with his control over the newly enhanced Secret Realm, felt like a second pair of eyes opening. His surroundings were just as clear as before, but now they were imbued with even more radiant halos of color.
The Statue of Comir seemed to move. With his eyes closed, Qin Xiaoxia thought he "saw" the statue turn its head to look at him, but at the same time, it felt as if it hadn’t moved at all.
