Chapter 168: Chapter 99: Blazing Angels 3
"Very well."
Diana agreed.
This made Robes breathe a huge sigh of relief.
But an even bigger surprise was yet to come.
Diana continued, "I’ll send a Tier Ten to help you. Will that be enough?"
"Enough! More than enough!"
It was far more than enough!
No one understood what the words "Tier Ten" meant better than he did.
Above Tier Seven, each Tier was separated by an insurmountable gulf. The greater the Mage, the more they understood how difficult it was to advance. The Empire was not what it once was; there were few Tier Ten Mages left in the world. Every single one of them represented a power at least on the level of a Duke Family, controlling hundreds of cities.
If a Grand Mage of that level was stationed in Selona Town, no one would be able to touch the Florist Family unless the real Carl Black appeared in person, his full power restored.
As for the Tier Five and Tier Six Mages who had come looking for trouble this time, it wouldn’t matter how many of them came—they would all die.
Robes was overjoyed. His aged voice filled with gratitude, he bowed and said, "Thank you for your protection, Your Highness the Saintess!"
"No need for thanks. It won’t be too late to thank me after you’ve met the person," Diana said.
Then, right in front of Robes, she summoned a crow with snow-white feathers, whispered a few instructions, and sent it to deliver the message to the Tier Ten.
Robes couldn’t quite hear what Diana said to the Snow Crow; he didn’t dare to listen. Nor did he understand what she meant by thanking her after he met the person. ’Is the Saintess hinting that I should thank the Tier Ten Mage directly, perhaps by giving them a generous "greeting gift"?’
In truth, even without her saying, Robes knew what to do.
After all, a Tier Ten didn’t just represent immense power, but also the revered status of a High Noble.
He had managed his family for many years; his greatest strength was navigating the complexities of social etiquette and relationships.
All in all, his trip to the Church Court had ended perfectly.
He had nearly caused a disaster and angered the Saintess, but the final result was good.
With the Saintess’s protection, the Florist Family no longer had to fear revenge from Blake’s supporters lurking in the shadows.
Moreover, this was an opportunity.
If he performed well and helped the Saintess root out the hidden Holy Temple Remnants, his family might be able to advance further. They could obtain a title above Viscount—perhaps Count, or even Marquis—and become one of the great hereditary families.
Robes had already figured out exactly what to do.
For example, he would take this chance to befriend the Tier Ten.
Then, he would point the spear at the Blazing Angel Family.
According to Klintor, of the two people who escaped, the girl was very likely a direct descendant of the Blazing Angel Family.
Robes hadn’t reported this to the Saintess because they had no proof.
He wasn’t a reckless fool like Klintor. To target a Grand Duke Family whose power was second only to the Church Court without any concrete evidence was madness. Setting aside whether the Saintess would even believe him, the Blazing Angel Family’s retaliation alone would be more than his small Viscount Family could bear. Therefore, he had to borrow someone else’s power.
The Tier Ten sent by the Saintess this time was that very "power."
As the Clan Leader of a family, Robes’s mind was undoubtedly shrewd and calculating.
He thought dozens of moves ahead with every step; one could even say he was "farsighted."
He had considered every possibility, including the consequences of failure.
The only thing he hadn’t expected was that the Tier Ten sent by the Saintess would arrive at the Florist Family estate before he did.
Just as Robes was returning to Selona City in high spirits, he saw a great blaze in the distance.
"Something’s happened! Hurry, put out the fire!"
"Water! Are there any Wizards who cultivate Water Magic? Follow me, quickly!"
The streets were filled with sounds of panic and urgency.
Robes was suddenly struck by a terrible premonition.
That blaze... it was coming from the direction of their Florist Family’s Ancient Castle!
「At the same time.」
A female voice, as cold as frost and in stark contrast to the raging inferno, reached his ears.
"Clan Leader of the Florist Family, Robes..."
"I’ve been waiting for you for a long time."
"I hear... you were the one who injured my husband?"
He looked up.
There, against the sky reddened by the flames, a figure hovered, looking down on him like one of the Gods.
Flames surged in her eyes, and burning wings spread out from her back.
Not one pair, but three!
Robes’s face went pale with shock. "???"
A Blazing Angel?!
