Chapter 155: Chapter 94: Consciousness Riverbed
"Sopea?"
Hearing the name, Elvire froze for a moment before her brow furrowed even deeper.
Sean’s gaze also grew more vigilant. He didn’t blindly believe the person just because they claimed to be Sopea.
The voice was indeed Sopea’s, but what were the odds? He had just been thinking how much simpler things would be if Sopea were here, and then Sopea immediately showed up?
It was hard not to suspect that he had unconsciously taken control of the "dream."
Or perhaps it was a "test" from the New World, based on his innermost thoughts.
Seeing that Sean and Elvire inside remained silent, another voice sounded from outside the door.
"Sean, Flame Crow, are you in there?"
’...That’s Kate’s voice?’
Elvire couldn’t help but turn to look at Sean.
Sean narrowed his eyes, formed a golden ring in his hand, and motioned for the girl to open the door.
Elvire understood his meaning from the gesture. She moved to press her body against the wall beside the door, reached out a hand, and twisted the doorknob.
CLICK.
The lock opened.
She pushed the door outward and quickly retracted her hand.
The door swung open.
Sean only saw two figures standing in the doorway. Without even getting a clear look at their faces, he immediately blasted a Ring of Truth at them.
In that instant, a brilliant golden light erupted, filling the entire room with the resplendent radiance of truth.
Sopea and Kate hadn’t had a chance to see inside the room either when a golden ring rushed toward them. It emanated a powerful, vast aura of knowledge, like a boundless sea of learning threatening to drown them.
Sopea: "???"
Kate: "???"
The two were shocked. They hadn’t expected Sean to be so short-tempered, and they scrambled to defend themselves.
"It’s us, don’t attack!"
Kate shouted hastily as he erected a Light Wall.
He wasn’t using his full power.
Neither was Sopea.
In their minds, Sean was only a Tier Three. Even if his Magic was strange, it would be difficult for him to truly harm a Tier Five, let alone a Tier Six. But who could have known that Sean wasn’t just short-tempered, but also "ruthless"? He went all out from the start, directly using a Forbidden Power. The Magic Power contained within the golden ring was in no way weaker than that of a Tier Five.
It was too late to switch to a different Spell to block it.
So, Sopea decisively chose to stand down. He took a step back, using Kate as a shield.
The next moment.
Kate’s Light Wall was instantly shattered by the golden ring. The aftershock, filled with characters, slammed into Kate, knocking him for a loop. He saw stars, his mind filled with nothing but solving, proving, and deriving...
He was forcibly stunned for over ten seconds.
When the golden light faded, Sean could finally see that it was indeed Sopea and Kate. However, he didn’t let down his guard, instead eyeing them suspiciously. "Why are you two here?"
Kate muttered, "Because a > b, and b > c, therefore a > c."
Sopea: "..."
Elvire: "..."
’Is the effect of Sean’s Magic really that strong?’
Sopea ignored the delirious Kate and said to Sean, "I was about to ask you the same thing."
He and Kate had read the Fallen Nether Technique before, so they knew how to turn a solo Meditation into a duo Meditation. Thus, they entered the state earlier than Sean and Elvire.
Their "spawn point" was on a hillside.
Below the hill was a concrete road that stretched out of sight in both directions. There were guardrails on both sides, the pavement was smooth, and cars drove by from time to time.
The cars had strange, retro designs, but that didn’t affect their assessment of the environment—this had to be a highway.
The two first argued over whether or not to "jack a car," and then they each went off to do their own thing.
Sopea didn’t want to steal a car.
Even in a fictional world, he wouldn’t stoop to such thuggery. It was beneath him.
Besides, two High-tier Wizards were already fast travelers. With a single Magic Spell, a car wouldn’t necessarily be able to outrun them. There was no need to steal one.
Kate, on the other hand, thought Sopea was too pedantic. An old fossil was an old fossil, completely inflexible.
’What if "leaving the highway" represents cellular autophagy?’
’Stealing a car might be one way to change the method of autophagy and improve its efficiency.’
So, Kate, staying true to his style, set his sights on a lone passenger car.
Under normal circumstances, a car on the highway would definitely not stop for someone waving on the roadside. You’d be lucky if they didn’t curse you out. A person on two legs running into the territory of a four-wheeled vehicle—did they have a death wish?
But you couldn’t stop Kate, who had no fear of death.
Seeing no other cars behind it, he planted himself right in the middle of the road. Magic Power roared out of him, kicking up a hurricane that forcefully brought the car to a steady stop for the driver.
Kate then pulled open the driver’s side door and "invited" the driver to get out.
"This is your money. Now please get out of my car."
"Oh, wait..."
This was the Meditation World; he hadn’t "brought" any money with him.
Kate thought for a moment, then had the driver find a piece of paper and a pen. He wrote out an IOU and signed his name.
"Take this to Krim State and find the president of Tucker Bank. It’s enough to buy ten cars like this."
With that, Kate sped off.
The driver stared dumbfounded at the exhaust fumes, only snapping out of it after a long moment.
He had never heard of any Krim State, much less a Tucker Bank. But this man was a noble Mage; he wouldn’t lie to an ordinary person like him. He figured he could probably find that place called Krim State if he just looked it up when he got back.
But—
Was this really right?
Can a noble Mage just steal someone else’s car whenever he wants?
He angrily shouted at Kate’s retreating car, "So what if you’re rich?!"
