Chapter 145: Chapter 89: "I’ll Take a Bite to Try
Elvire had finally taken the bait.
Perhaps Elise’s acting was too convincing. Elvire truly believed her best friend was trying to steal away her other good friend, which sent her into a panic.
But in reality, how could Elise ever truly try to steal him?
She was just cooperating with Sean to reel Elvire in.
This wasn’t a betrayal of her friend. Elise genuinely thought Sean was a great catch. He was handsome and had high Talent. Aside from being so handsome that he attracted women like bees to honey, he had basically no flaws.
Wizards like them met many people, but very few truly made it into their hearts. The simple requirement of "also being a Wizard" filtered out the vast majority of people.
So, she wasn’t setting Elvire up for a fall; she was helping the girl.
There’s an old saying: tsunderes often lose out. You have feelings for someone but insist on acting reserved, only to regret it after they’re gone.
Elise didn’t want to see her good friend turn to the dark side over Sean someday.
A girl who could cast Forbidden Spells, driven to the dark side by love... the very thought was terrifying.
So, she lent a small hand, pretending to be very interested in Sean to create a little sense of crisis for Miss Flame Crow.
If Elvire didn’t fall for it and actually let her and Sean perform Dual Cultivation, then...

...it wouldn’t be a loss for her, either.
’Who would refuse to cultivate with a handsome, kind-hearted guy?’
Unfortunately, Elvire didn’t give her that chance.
Seeing that she and Sean seemed to be genuinely about to start Dual Cultivation, Elvire immediately logged off with them and kicked her out of the room—
"Go stand guard outside. Don’t let anyone disturb us."
"I’ll deal with you for trying to steal him later. Hmph!"
BANG!
Elvire slammed the door shut.
CLICK-CLACK.
And bolted it, just like Sopea would.
Elise shook her head in amusement. ’It was such an obvious provocation, yet Elvire couldn’t see through it. Love really does make people slow.’ It seemed that even Miss Flame Crow—so mature at a young age that she’d made it her mission to fight the Witch Hunt Operation and save all Wizards—was no exception to such worldly matters.
But in fact, Elvire had seen through it.
But so what if she had?
’Am I supposed to just let Sean go cultivate with Elise?’
’That would be letting those two off way too easily.’
—Today, Elise had also become one of those "guys" in Elvire’s book.
’Who told Elise to team up with Sean and provoke me?’
And there was nothing she could do about it.
She wasn’t some unreasonable little girl who would refuse to cultivate with Sean herself and then forbid him from finding someone else. All she wanted was for Sean to say a few nice things to coax her. But Sean was acting like an idiot. She didn’t know if he genuinely couldn’t read her mind or was just pretending not to, but all he did was infuriate her.
That "I’ll deal with you later" wasn’t just for Elise. It was for Sean, too!
’Meditation and Cultivation are the important business at hand.’
’Once we’re done with that, we’ll see if I even bother talking to that detestable guy again. Hmph.’
Inside the room, Sean raised a question.
"Miss Flame Crow, how should we hug?"

Elvire: "?"
"Who said I was going to hug you?"
’In your dreams!’
"You, go to the foot of the bed!" Elvire said in a harsh tone. "I’m warning you, you’d better behave. No funny business, or else don’t blame me for what happens next!"
Sean: "With our relationship, there’s no need to be so formal. We’re all family here."
Elvire once again produced a question mark: "?"
’Since when did we become family?’
’We’re not even close to that stage yet!’
She was discovering that this guy really knew how to push his luck.
Before, he said she wasn’t an "outsider," and she didn’t deny it. Now, they’d suddenly become "family." If she kept letting this slide, who knows, the next time Sean opened his mouth, they might have become father and daughter, and he’d be asking her to call him "daddy."
’No, I absolutely cannot let Sean foster this kind of perverse notion!’
Her cheeks slightly red, Elvire said fiercely, "Keep your hands to yourself, and watch your mouth too!"
"Alright, alright." Sean backed down gracefully. "But the book says there has to be physical contact."
He winked at the girl and asked tentatively, "How about... you give me a hand?"
’If I can’t hug her, holding her hand is fine too.’
Elvire’s face was stern. "No."
’Holding hands is for lovers.’
’Right now, we’re just good friends. I can’t indulge Sean too much. Otherwise, just like with the way he addresses me, he’ll take an inch and demand a mile.’
’Physical contact might be necessary for dual Meditation, but I can’t just let Sean call all the shots. The contact area must be strictly limited.’
"The most you’ll get is a foot," Elvire huffed.
Sean was taken aback. "There’s an offer this good?"
Elvire: "?"
"What’s so good about it?"
"Pervert!"
Elvire cursed, her face flushed red.

She didn’t even need to think hard to know what perverted thoughts Sean was having.
When she offered a foot, she didn’t mean for Sean to play with it. He had to use his foot, too.
And so, under the girl’s forceful command, Sean sat at the foot of the bed. She also took off her shoes, got on the bed, and sat at the head.
The bed in the sleeper car was rather small. They sat facing each other with their knees bent, their soles just able to touch.
"Oh, so *this* is what you meant by ’giving me a foot’," Sean said, greatly disappointed.
’She’s not even taking her socks off. How boring.’
Elvire snapped, "Stop thinking about nonsense! If we’re going to cultivate, then let’s cultivate properly!"
After saying her piece, she ignored Sean, closed her eyes, and tried to find her focus.
Meditation wasn’t something you could just start on command. Whether solo or dual, it required concentration. She had just been riled up by Sean, so she needed to calm her emotions first.
「Meanwhile, in the small dining car.」
Seeing Elise get kicked out, Yisha couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly. She blinked her eyes and asked, feigning ignorance, "Elise, how come you’re out here? Did you lose the fight?"
"What else could have happened?" Elise sat down beside the two girls and said with a helpless air, "Who can possibly win against Miss Flame Crow?"
