Chapter 143: Chapter 88: It Takes Two

"What do you think you’re doing?"

"We’re doing legitimate Dual Cultivation. It’s not like we’ll be in your way..."

"It doesn’t matter if you’re in the way! It’s still not happening!"

Elvire fumed, "What’s the meaning of this!"

Flirting right in front of her!

She could let Sean slide; he was an infuriating person by nature. But for Elise to actually nod in agreement...

She even asked whose room they should use.

’So one was bold enough to suggest it, and the other was bold enough to accept, huh?’

Seeing that Elvire was about to fly into a rage, Yisha quickly shot Koni a look: *Time to go.*

Anyone in the know understood that the complicated history between Sean and Miss Flame Crow was a battle between titans—and no one could interfere.

In the past, Yisha would have definitely taken Elvire’s side. After all, Miss Flame Crow was both her friend and her boss. Out of both loyalty and logic, she would have spoken up for Elvire.

But things were different now.

Although she still addressed him as "Mr. Sean" out loud, in her heart, she already regarded Sean—who had selflessly taught her the Truth Technique—as her true teacher. And one simply did not talk back to one’s teacher; that would make her a disrespectful disciple who had betrayed her master.

’That would never do. She had to respect her teacher and his teachings!’

And so, Yisha grabbed Koni and made her escape.

Koni had wanted to stick around for the drama—she loved watching people bicker—but the moment she remembered Sean was Lord Blake... she decided it was best not to. Otherwise, if Sean held it against her, she’d be in more trouble than she could handle.

The two women quietly slipped back to their room.

Sopea intended to return to his room as well. It wasn’t that he feared Sean’s wrath; he’d seen this sort of thing plenty of times in his past life. Innocent bystanders rarely got caught in the crossfire. But for that very reason, he’d seen it so often that it had lost its novelty. In the end, it was always the same: two women fighting over Lord Blake. There was nothing interesting to see.

’Reading a book was a much better use of his time.’

But just as he turned to leave, Kate stopped him.

Sean wasn’t the only one who needed Meditation for his Cultivation; Sopea did, too.

Although Tier Five was already considered a relatively rare "High Tier" for a Wizard, it was still a far cry from the *true* high tiers.

After all, back in the Era of Polymath, you couldn’t even qualify for a visit to the Hall of Truth unless you were a Grand Mage.

Even today, Tier Five was hardly the pinnacle. Tier Six loomed above it, and the difference in Magic Power between the two was immense.

Besides, learning is a never-ending process.

For a Wizard, Cultivation was simply a part of daily life.

Even Sean was this diligent. As a fellow confidant of Lord Blake, he, of course, had to strive just as hard.

So, when Sopea turned back, he was met with the sight of Kate’s provocative expression.

"Hey, old-timer, how about we go for some Dual Cultivation too?"

Sopea: "?"

’Is this kid serious?’

"I’m busy."

Sopea said coolly, "I have to teach Koni Magic."

"Tch," Kate scoffed. "If you’re scared, just say you’re scared. Don’t give me that ’I’m busy’ excuse."

"Koni and Yisha are in the middle of a private girl’s chat. What’s an old man like you going to meddle in?"

"Or are you saying you have a problem with Lord Blake’s arrangements?"

Another heavy accusation was thrown his way.

Sopea stared at him, his gaze full of meaning. "I’m afraid I’d crush your confidence."

Before setting out, they had already read the *Fallen Nether Technique* on the fourth floor of the Holy Sanctuary.

It was a truly wondrous form of Meditation. It would break apart the two participants’ established, fixed meditative landscapes, then re-fuse them into a new "world" based on their combined consciousness.

And since everyone’s goal was the same—to increase the conversion rate of autophagy through Meditation—the task was also similar for all: explore this new and unfamiliar Spiritual World and find the symbolic representation of autophagy. As for *how* to find it...

...that was entirely up to each Wizard’s personal understanding of Meditation.

And his understanding, without a doubt, was far superior to Kate’s.

After all, he was a Tier Six.

Moreover, he was the first... well, the second person to have openly and honorably set foot on the 3rd Floor of the Holy Sanctuary. Sopea could confidently say that his accomplishments were entirely the result of his own hard work. ’What could Kate possibly have to compare with that?’

The *Fallen Nether Technique* was described as dual Meditation, but in practice, both individuals still had to achieve their own goals. The "meditation experience" was tallied separately; one person’s success didn’t guarantee the other’s. It was just that having another person meant having another perspective. A helping hand could make things simpler.

The book also stated that the two should help and support one another. A Wizard’s Cultivation wasn’t just about Magic Power; it was also about one’s Mental State and soul. Only by cultivating all three could one progress further down the path and have a hope of future advancement.

That was the principle, yes. But with Kate’s infuriatingly smug demeanor, was he really going to help him?

’Impossible.’

’Sopea would just stand aside and laugh at him.’

’The famous Light Attendant. So this is all he amounts to.’

He wasn’t one for pretense. If he didn’t want to help, he wouldn’t. Just as he always wore his emotions on his face—it wasn’t an act of being cold and aloof, he genuinely couldn’t be bothered with people. So, Sopea decided to lay out the unpleasantries upfront.

"Don’t expect me to give you a hand," he said coldly.

"Tch. All those years and still so petty?" Kate said with a sneer. "I don’t need your help. But if *you* need a hand, I can give you one. My teacher taught me to respect the elderly and care for the young."

Sopea retorted with a touch of sarcasm, "So now you know I’m your elder?"

’In his eyes, Kate was simply admitting he wasn’t up to the task and would likely need help, so now he was trying to butter him up at the last minute.’

Kate: "No, you’ve got it wrong."

"You’re not the ’elderly’ part. You’re the ’young’."

"?"

Sopea’s expression darkened, and his fists clenched.

’So he wants to Meditate with me, does he?’

’Fine.’

’He’d see about taking this opportunity to teach this disrespectful little brat a harsh lesson!’
