Chapter 135: Chapter 85: "You Think I’m Just Tier 5?

New Eldo City Area.

Inside a hotel room.

By the floor-to-ceiling window, Yisha gazed down at the bustling pedestrians on the street, easily spotting the "spies" who had infiltrated the crowd.

’They’re constantly craning their necks and looking around while they walk. You can tell they’re up to no good at a single glance!’

"Mr. Sean, it looks like Zajik is making a move."

"That’s to be expected," Sean replied casually.

’After all, he got screwed over and lost more than ten million. If it were me, I’d be anxious too.’

’Oh, wait, I don’t have over ten million to lose.’

’But now I do.’

He had said long ago that sooner or later, he would find a way to get back the money the Florist Family had swallowed.

At this moment, Sean was sitting on the bed, joyfully sharing the delight of this "bank robbery" with Elvire and Elise.

"First off, this is the hundred thousand I borrowed from you last time. Here."

Bundles upon bundles of cash covered the bed. Sean wasn’t sure if it was because the hotel was just that nice, but he felt the bed was soft and fragrant. Forget sleeping on it; just sitting was incredibly comfortable. He pulled a bundle from the stacks of cash and handed it to Elvire, clearing his previous debt first.

He had always been a man of his word. A loan was a loan, and if he borrowed something, he would definitely pay it back.

’As for working part-time as a Priest at the church, I’ll just consider that the interest on this debt.’

Next, Sean pulled out several more bundles of cash and gave them to Elise.

"This is for the house you helped me buy. If it’s not enough, just say the word."

Elise hadn’t told him how much the house cost, clearly not intending for him to pay her back. In the past, with his livelihood on the line, Sean might have put off mentioning it. He wasn’t one for false modesty; if he genuinely needed something, he wouldn’t stand on ceremony with the two of them. He would just quietly commit the favor to memory.

But things were different now.

He was now a bona fide multimillionaire, with a net worth comparable to his former boss, Zajik, and it was all in cash. Even his voice carried a little more confidence than before without him even realizing it.

When Elise saw Sean stuff several bundles of large-denomination bills into her hands, she quickly said, "That’s enough, that’s enough! A house doesn’t cost this much."

Alola Town wasn’t a big city, and no one was speculating on housing prices. Even the "mansion" she and Elvire lived in, complete with a garden and pond, had only cost a few hundred thousand, and that included renovations. It was the standard price for a self-built home.

Sean was skeptical. "Is it really enough? Don’t you lie to me."

Elise said with an amused laugh, "What’s there to lie about? When we go back, you can ask around yourself and find out."

"Alright," Sean nodded, but his hands didn’t stop. He stuffed another hundred thousand into Elise’s hands.

Elise protested, "Didn’t I just say it was enough..."

Sean waved his hand magnanimously. "This is a thank-you gift for all the care Miss Elise has shown me recently."

"No, no, no," Elise teased. "If you keep this up, you’ll make me want to quit my job and become your assistant."

During the time Sean had been living in town, she had indeed helped him out quite a bit, but it was never anything major. It was just a matter of finding people or buying things—tasks that could be handled with a few trips and a few words.

It hadn’t been long, either. Sean had been in town for less than a month in total, and she’d spent much of that time busy with her own affairs. At this rate, her "daily wage" was about to break the thousand mark—much higher than what she earned as Elvire’s assistant.

Elvire shot her a glance and said, "Then go ahead and quit. Don’t just talk about it. You can be his full-time caretaker from now on."

"Oh, come on, I was just kidding," Elise said with a blink. "Don’t worry, Miss Flame Crow. Even if you tried to chase me away, I wouldn’t leave."

Elvire snorted lightly, her gaze falling back onto Sean.

But she just watched Sean silently, not making a sound.

’She was waiting. Elise got a thank-you gift, so where was hers?’

’This wasn’t about the money, it was a matter of "attitude." She had helped Sean just as much as Elise had during this time, if not more.’

But Sean, as if he had forgotten, touched his face in confusion. "Is there something on my face? Why are you staring at me like that?"

Elvire retorted, "What do you think?"

"Oh, right, there’s still the medical bills," Sean said, suddenly enlightened. "I was hospitalized for so long; I can’t just use all that medicine and equipment for free... How about this: you name a price, and I’ll pay whatever you say. I only have one condition: you have to round up."

"Because I don’t have any small change."

Elvire: "?"

’What a nouveau riche thing to say.’

Elvire complained internally. ’How did I never realize this guy had such "new money" potential before?’

’It’s spelled "nouveau riche," but it’s pronounced "sucker."’

’"Round up," my ass. At the rate he’s spending, ten million won’t last him very long.’

’Besides, is this really about the medical bills?’

Elvire continued to stare at Sean without a word.

Sean: "Still staring?"

"Keep looking and I’ll drink you up."

Elvire: "?"

Elise teased, "Miss Flame Crow wants you to show your appreciation."

Having lived together for so long, she knew Elvire all too well. She could tell what the girl was thinking with a single glance.

But this only confused Sean more. "You need me to show my appreciation, too?"

Elvire flared up the moment she heard that.

’What does he mean by that?’

’Elise gets a show of appreciation, but I can’t?’

"I get it. I’m not worthy," Elvire said flatly.

’Who doesn’t know how to be passive-aggressive?’

Sean immediately frowned and chided her, "What do you mean, ’not worthy’? That’s just nonsense."

"If we’re really talking about who’s worthy, you’re more worthy than anyone."

"But what’s our relationship?"

"Didn’t I tell you a long time ago? You’re not just anyone. What’s mine is yours. If you need money, you can just take however much you want. Why would we even need to talk about a ’show of appreciation’?"

Elvire: "...?"

This sudden "we’re such good friends" speech caught her completely off guard.

’This guy... Why does he always pull this kind of stuff?’
