Chapter 119: Chapter 77: "If You Don’t Go, Plenty of Others Will

’Sean is probably just waiting for you to go to him now.’

Elise had it all figured out. The so-called "realize who your heart truly wants to Cultivate with" was a complete sham. If she wasn’t mistaken, Sean must have already communicated with Lord Blake, asking him to set the correct answer for both her and Elvire to be Sean himself.

That’s why no matter who they wanted to Cultivate with, they could never reach the fourth floor.

Unless the person they were thinking of was Sean.

Although Elise didn’t know how Sean had managed to drag her into this, she was starting to see him in a new light. The guy’s relationship with Lord Blake seemed unusually good. Not only did Lord Blake send Sean messages, but he also played matchmaker for Sean and Elvire...

She’d believe it if someone told her Sean was Lord Blake’s long-lost little brother.

’I just wonder, did Lord Blake recognize Elvire?’

’If he didn’t, then this whole thing is even more complicated.’

’Sean might even be scheming against Lord Blake. By the time Lord Blake discovers that the person on the other end of the red string he personally tied is his own sister-in-law, the words will already be out. Given Lord Blake’s status, he naturally won’t be able to go back on his word.’

Elise was already letting her imagination run wild with bold theories.

But she had still underestimated how surreal reality was.

Other than Sopea, who had seen it with her own eyes, who could have possibly guessed that Sean was Lord Blake himself?

The correct answers for Elvire and Elise’s tests had indeed been specially set by Sean. The same went for Kate and Sopea. It was rare for him to orchestrate a scheme in his capacity as Blake, so of course, he had to include a few more people.

As for Elvire, needless to say, the answer could only be him.

The reason Elise’s answer was also him was that Sean wanted to use the opportunity to divert the girl’s attention, using Elise as a "human shield." That way, if Elvire cared about him, she’d be on guard against her best friend. With all her attention on Elise, she naturally wouldn’t have time to stay angry at him.

In psychology, this is called an anxiety hedge.

As for Kate and Sopea, Sean wanted them to reconcile.

’You’re all capable subordinates under Lord Blake, what’s there to argue about?’

Sean hoped the two of them could Cultivate together more often, connect, become friends, and join forces against the Witch Hunters.

And while he was at it, find a couple more bodyguards for his upcoming trip.

Sean was already packing his things.

He hadn’t even gone to see the place Elise had found for him. ’I’ll deal with it when I get back,’ he thought.

「In the hospital room.」

Elvire, still unaware that Sean was about to leave on a long trip, saw him stuffing clothes into a suitcase the moment she entered and couldn’t help but ask, "Where are you going?"

Sean had a look of longing on his face. "To the place where our dream began."

Elvire: "?"

"Feeling poetic all of a sudden?"

Sean: "?"

"This is called romance. Don’t you get it?"

"I don’t." Elvire asked again, "And what’s this ’our’?"

Sean sincerely extended a hand to the girl. "Because I plan to invite Miss Flame Crow to go with me."

"In your dreams." Elvire slapped his hand away and huffed. "I haven’t even settled the score with you from last time, and now you want to ask me out?"

And it wasn’t just any ordinary date.

He was already packing a suitcase; wherever he was going, it definitely wasn’t close.

She wasn’t the kind of girl who would just go on a long trip with a guy.

"Where are we going?" Elvire asked.

"World’s End," Sean replied.

Elvire: "..."

’This again?’

"Speak properly." She glared at Sean. "I’m not falling for that. Don’t use the same tricks on me that you use on other girls."

"First of all, there are no other girls."

"Second, I’m serious." Sean took out a map and pointed it out to her. "Look, this place is literally called World’s End."

It was a corner on the southeasternmost edge of the continent.

Elvire frowned. "Why go so far away?"

She had thought Sean wanted to take her on a trip as an apology, but he had chosen such a remote place. Was there anything fun to do there?

"Because of the time difference. This place is closest to the time difference I feel in my body," Sean said. "I’m going to look for the ruins of Kovri City."

Elvire: "?"

’Look for what?’

’The ruins of Kovri City??’

Elise, who had first gone to the front desk to pay the hospital bill, came in just then and explained for Sean, "The Holy Sanctuary still exists in this world. Lord Blake told him."

Elvire was about to refute the first half of the sentence, but after hearing the second half, she swallowed her words. Although she didn’t like her brother-in-law, she knew in her heart that his words were highly credible. Besides, the Holy Sanctuary was something Blake had poured his heart and soul into creating; he wouldn’t joke about such a thing.

But there was no telling if Sean was joking.

"Don’t you lie to us." Elvire’s expression turned serious.

With the Holy Sanctuary involved, this was no longer a private matter, but official business. It had to be treated with gravity.

Sean also replied very seriously, "I’m not lying to you."

Elvire’s answer, however, was the complete opposite of what he expected.

"I’m not going."

"And you’d better not go either."

Elvire said, "If the Holy Sanctuary really exists, there are bound to be Witch Hunter spies around. We might be facing more than just the Florist family. It’s too dangerous."

"That’s exactly why I have to bring you along, because it’s dangerous," Sean said.

Elvire: "?"

"So I can die with you, is that it?"

"No, you’re so weird," Sean retorted. "If I ask you to come, it’s so you can die with me. If I don’t ask you, you say I’m ignoring your feelings and hiding things from you. Are all you girls like this?"

Elvire’s cheeks flushed, and though she was in the wrong, she was shamelessly defiant. "I don’t care. Anyway, you’re not allowed to go. You’re going to Cultivate with me first. We’ll talk about it again when your Tier is higher."

Elise was cracking up as she listened from the side. She just loved watching these two bicker.

Sean couldn’t be bothered with all that. He said, "I’ve already booked the plane tickets. Seven of them. If you don’t go, there are plenty of others who will."

Elvire: "???"

’That many?’

"You invited other people?"

"Who?"

"None of your business." Even as he said that, Sean started muttering, "Like my enthusiastic female neighbor, the female fans who admire me in the group chat, my new apprentice Little Yisha, and so on... There are too many to count."

It was a good thing he didn’t continue listing them, or Elvire might have actually punched him a couple of times.

Not a single man, but he reeled off the names of women like they were precious treasures. Even her brother-in-law wasn’t such a scumbag!

Was he really going to look for the ruins of the Holy Sanctuary, or was he just going out to fool around?

"Fine, don’t go then. Move aside." Sean put the map away and, dragging his suitcase, said, "I have to head to a hotel in the city. My flight is early the day after tomorrow."

Elvire said angrily, "Sean, you stop right there!"

"Nope."

Sean paid her no mind, walking straight out the door, turning right to go downstairs. He even pulled the door shut behind him with a soft thud, leaving the two women in the room staring at the door.

Elise laughed, asking a question she already knew the answer to. "Are we really not going?"

"Are we supposed to just watch him go get himself killed?" Elvire bit her lip. "Let’s go. We’re going home to pack."

Elise teased, "I knew you couldn’t bear to let him go."

"Bullshit. I’m just doing this for my Cultivation." Elvire was now willing to "share" Sean with Elise. "Don’t forget, he’s your partner too. If he dies, neither of us will be able to learn the Meditation Technique."

Elise suppressed a laugh. "Alright, alright. It’s *me* who can’t bear to see him die, okay?"

They had one day to prepare.

It was a bit rushed, but Elise had known about Sean’s plan to find the ruins of the Holy Sanctuary three days before Elvire, so she was already mentally prepared and felt it was manageable. Besides, looking at it from another angle, a spur-of-the-moment trip didn’t sound too bad, did it?

’I hope we can really find the Holy Sanctuary.’

That place was far too important to them, the Wizards. It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call it their spiritual belief.

The "resurrection" of Carl Black, combined with the "reappearance" of the Holy Sanctuary, would give them immense confidence and morale, while also striking fear and panic into their enemies.

By then, the tables would officially turn.
