Chapter 111: Chapter 74: The Times Are About to Change

Sean hadn’t expected the conference room to be so crowded. The sight of them gave him a real shock.

There were banners and declarations of how much they missed him, yet they were all strangers. Sean’s guard immediately went up. ’Has my identity been exposed?’

This was not good news.

He had chosen to hide his identity precisely for safety concerns.

This "safety" wasn’t just about Elvire. After all, the girl was his sister-in-law. As far as they knew, they were each other’s only family in this life. No matter how unpleasant their past arguments had been, it would at most lead to a shouting match, not a life-or-death struggle.

Sean was more concerned about potential enemies.

Although these enemies had yet to appear, the world was not static. People’s opinions differed; where one person was liked, another would hate them. Just as some people might want him resurrected, others would naturally wish for him to sleep forever.

Besides, that group of Witch Hunters were Wizards, too, so they would surely know the name Carl Black.

If they discovered he was the "reincarnation" of Carl Black—their enemy’s greatest Wizard leader—wouldn’t they mobilize their entire clan, and even ally with Witch Hunter Families from other states, to take him down?

Putting himself in their shoes, Sean knew he would do the exact same thing.

Strategically, one should despise the enemy, but tactically, one must take them seriously.

Given the chance, he would absolutely nip the danger in the bud, giving the enemy no opportunity to grow stronger in the shadows.

Putting himself back in his own position—he was the one who urgently needed to lay low and power up.

Otherwise, with his current Magic Power, forget about rebuilding the Era of Polymath or overthrowing the Witch Hunters’ rule—he probably couldn’t even handle his own sister-in-law.

In fact, he was the one more likely to be taken down.

So when he saw so many people suddenly appear in the conference room, Sean was extremely wary.

That is, until he heard someone exclaim excitedly, "The statue is back!"

"Lord Blake is back!"

Only then did Sean relax slightly.

"The statue is back!" implied that the statue had previously been "gone." His guess had been correct. He had indeed triggered a "bug," causing the Void Technique Space to mistake the statue for a Wizard. When he had exited the Void Technique Space from inside the statue, it wasn’t him who had truly logged off, but the statue.

Watching everyone’s excited and emotional faces, Sean suddenly had the urge to see if he could go back.

Since he couldn’t get out right now, and he’d have to test this sooner or later anyway, there was no time like the present.

And so, right under the noses of a large crowd of Wizards...

Kate was even about to scold them, telling this thoughtless bunch that their racket was disturbing Lord Blake’s rest.

...the statue suddenly vanished once more.

It was as if there was an open manhole in the floor; with a WHOOSH, it vanished without a trace.

The Wizards: "???"

’Why did Lord Blake run off?’

The conference room immediately erupted.

"Did we welcome him the wrong way?"

"Should we get some professional hostesses? I remember Lord Blake being very particular about ceremony..."

Only Sopea had a rough idea of what was happening.

He wouldn’t have imagined that the Void Technique Space could have bugs—in his eyes, Lord Blake was virtually perfect, so the Void Technique Space he created would naturally be flawless. But he already knew Sean was Blake. Sean had previously mentioned telling everyone how to enter the upper echelons of the Holy Sanctuary, so he was most likely debugging the statue’s assessment "program" right now.

Out of curiosity, Sopea quietly entered a state of "Retrospect," wanting to see where Lord Blake had gone. He promised himself he wouldn’t tell a soul, but the result left him secretly stunned.

Sean was currently only Tier Two, while Sopea himself was Tier Six. The gap between them was so immense that not even a Forbidden Spell could bridge it. And yet, he couldn’t see any trace Sean had left behind...

Not even a single footprint.

You had to understand, even Instant Teleportation Magic left trails he could follow. The seventh law of Mysticism also states that Energy is never lost, only transferred. Therefore, any use of Magic Power was bound to leave a trace.

And yet, he couldn’t find a thing.

No matter how wide he opened his eyes, he couldn’t detect the faintest trace of residual Magic Power.

’As expected of Lord Blake,’ he could only think.

’Even his disappearance is so perfect!’

Nearby, Kate let out a cold snort. "Do you know why Lord Blake appeared only to leave again?"

"It’s because you all disappointed Lord Blake so greatly."

"You’re all High-tier Wizards, Tier Four and above, yet you’re completely immature. What’s all this ruckus about?"

He was now reprimanding everyone exactly as his teacher had reprimanded him before.

Adelf, hearing this, was quite gratified.

The reason he had taken Kate on as a student was precisely because he valued this quality in him. Kate was a quick study who immediately applied whatever he learned. He was also flexible, always knowing what role to play and when.

The crowd, however, collectively threw out a question mark: "?"

’Look at him, getting all high and mighty.’

"Listening to you, anyone who didn’t know better would think you could speak for Lord Blake," the Wizard who had argued with Kate earlier sneered. He was clearly a master of sarcasm himself.

"Exactly," the other Wizards chimed in, displeased. "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to speak for Lord Blake?"

But surprisingly, Sopea, who had been at odds with Kate since they first met, sided with him this time. He spoke calmly, "Lord Blake has always preferred quiet. Any of you with a decent memory should know that. I’d advise you to shut your mouths. Otherwise, if you anger Lord Blake, forget about getting any favors—you’ll be lucky if you don’t get kicked out of the Holy Sanctuary."
