Chapter 107: Chapter 72: "Log Off

In truth, Sean wasn’t even awake yet.

Or more accurately, he was still in the Void Technique Space and hadn’t come out.

Sean wasn’t sure how long it would take to absorb the Magic Potion, figuring it would be a rather lengthy process. So, once he had fully adapted to its effects and confirmed there would be no complications, he simply closed his eyes. Taking advantage of the downtime, he entered the Void Technique Space to settle things with the statue.

That way, even if it took a week to absorb the Magic Potion, he’d be ready to attend the Dawn Conference as soon as it was over.

Thus, Elvire inevitably found her trip was for nothing.

But she didn’t leave the infirmary.

Instead, it was Lante who was temporarily kicked out.

Since Sean wasn’t awake, she was going to start laying into him.

The girl unleashed a tirade at the "soundly sleeping" Sean. Words like "selfish jerk," "inconsiderate," and "cheapskate" tumbled from her lips one after another, leaving Elise both amused and speechless. ’So this is what she meant by teaching Sean a lesson?’

’Shouldn’t you at least wake him up first?’

Elise didn’t dare say that out loud, though. She could only think it. Otherwise, she might have been kicked out by Elvire as well.

Meanwhile, in the Void Technique Space, Sean was oblivious to Elvire’s arrival. He was having a rather good time by himself inside the statue. Drawing on the memories from his dream, he had smoothly located the Truth Technique within the sculpture, replacing it with a few questions of his own and setting their answers.

It was guaranteed to be a surprise for Elvire when the time came.

After taking care of business, Sean went up to the third floor to return the books he had previously taken from the library.

Since the third and fourth floors were going to be opened up, he had to ensure the library was complete so that everyone would have something to read.

Besides, he had already memorized everything he needed to. If he truly forgot something, he could always come back for it. The Hall of Truth was his domain, after all. He called the shots here.

Having done all this, Sean returned to the statue, preparing to log out from within it.

According to the Void Technique Space’s "save" rule, he should reappear directly inside the statue the next time he entered. That would make it easy for him to get to the second floor for the Dawn Conference, without having to sneak over and touch the statue again.

But little did Sean expect that while he was just trying to make simple use of a rule, that very rule would send him somewhere else entirely.

As Sean logged out with satisfaction, his mind on practicing the Netherworld Technique, the scene that greeted his eyes made him freeze on the spot.

He did not open his eyes to the infirmary.

Nor was Lante there.

Instead, there was only a vast expanse of ruins.

It looked like a demolished, unfinished building.

The cramped space and the sensation of being pressed in on all sides told Sean that he was still inside a statue.

The difference was, the statue was no longer in the Void Technique Space. It was in a ruin filled with realistic textures and colors, piled high with bricks and rubble.

Sean’s eyes gradually widened at this familiar yet alien scene.

He saw the collapsed library, its shelves toppled and broken, scattered books mixed in a heap with bricks and tiles, all covered in dust and mud.

He saw the derelict dormitory, its floors snapped in half as if by an earthquake, forming a triangle against the ground. All around were filthy clothes and rotting bedsheets.

He also saw a desolate fountain. The water in its basin had long since dried up, and its circular rim was spiderwebbed with cracks, eroded by the passage of untold years.

In the center of the basin stood a stone stele, shattered into two pieces. The engraved characters on its surface were filled with dirt, but their strokes were still faintly discernible.

On one half, they spelled out "Truth."

On the other, "Hall."
