Chapter 231: Chapter 231: Open Minds

Alexander got out of the silver Tahoe, locked the doors, and walked straight into the apartment building. He took the elevator up, found the designated door, and let himself inside the apartment.

Standing in the living room was a petite, slender girl. She had striking green eyes and light brown hair, giving her a cute, innocent look.

"You’re the one from the agency, right?" asked Ivy, offering a small, cautious smile as she clutched a mug of tea. "I didn’t think anyone would actually take the contract this late."

"Money is money," said Alexander, closing the door behind him. "And the night is still young."

Ivy took a step back to give him space, but the movement was rigid, accompanied by a faint, metallic click that echoed softly in the quiet room. Her hips swayed with an unnatural, heavy effort just to shift her weight. Alexander’s eyes tracked the stiff motion, his gaze dropping down to her oversized, baggy sweatpants that dragged against the floor, hiding whatever was underneath.

"Is there something wrong with the view?" asked Ivy, her defensive tone sharp enough to cut glass as she noticed his stare.

"Just trying to figure out the hitch in your step," said Alexander, his voice flat devoid of judgment.

Ivy let out a bitter, dry laugh and set her mug down on the counter. With a single, defiant tug, she pushed the fabric of her sweatpants down to her knees, exposing the cold truth.

Because of her missing limbs, she was used to constant rejection from society. It wasn’t just one leg; an accident had taken her left leg from below the hip, and the other one was severed just below the thigh stump. She was wearing a high-tech, specialized prosthesis that allowed her to stand and walk, though with a noticeable effort..

"What would you like to do tonight?" asked Alexander, keeping his voice neutral as he looked at her.

"I just don’t want to be looked at with disgust," said Ivy, her voice trembling slightly as she crossed her arms, bracing herself for the usual reaction. "You can leave if you want. I know it’s a lot to handle."

"But not about that," said Alexander, taking a step closer and ignoring her suggestion to leave. "What would you like me to take you to do? Something you’ve always wanted to do?"

"Don’t do that," said Ivy, spitting the words out with sudden bitterness. "I don’t need your pity. I paid twenty-five grand for a companion, not a charity worker feeling sorry for the broken girl."

"Pity doesn’t buy a Tahoe, and it definitely doesn’t get me through the door," said Alexander, a low, smooth chuckle escaping his chest as he walked right up to her, closing the distance until he was towering over her petite frame. "Look at me. Do I look like a guy who does charity?"

Ivy looked up, her green eyes locking onto his. She bit her lower lip, her breath hitching slightly at how close he was.

"Then why are you still standing here?" whispered Ivy, her voice losing its sharp edge, replaced by a sudden, nervous heat.

"Because you’re cute, you’re wearing nothing but those sweatpants right now, and I’m curious to see how creative we can get," said Alexander, his gaze dropping slowly from her eyes down to her bare, flat chest, then down to where the cold metal of her prosthesis met her warm skin. "So stop talking about pity. If I’m staying, it’s because I want to see what else those green eyes can do."

Ivy’s heart hammered against her ribs, her cheeks flaring with a deep, sudden flush. She hadn’t expected this at all. A friend had whispered rumors to her about TMC, claiming they had agents who could handle any request, but she had never believed she would actually meet someone who could look at her like this. His eyes were clear, firm, and devoid of the usual disgust or awkward pity she always endured.

"So?" asked Alexander, his voice dropping into a low, teasing rumble. "What would you like to do? Do you want to grab some dinner? Do you want to go out somewhere? Or do you just want me to take you to heaven?"

Ivy swallowed hard, her throat tight as she looked up at him, unable to find her words.

"The third option is included in all the others, by the way," whispered Alexander, leaning down to capture her lips for a brief, heavy second before trailing his mouth up to bite her earlobe.

Ivy let out a soft gasp, her hands flying to his chest to steady herself as the warmth of his breath sent a shiver straight down to her waist.

"I... I..." stammered Ivy, her voice fading into a breathless whisper as she clutched the fabric of his shirt.

"What’s wrong?" asked Alexander, a slow, confident smirk playing on his lips as he looked down at her flushed face. "Cat got your tongue? Or would you prefer I take your tongue myself?"

Ivy stood frozen in his embrace, her mind racing. She had always been a fighter, a fiercely independent woman who never let anyone look down on her or push her around. She had built a thick armor against the world, yet this young man had shattered it and left her speechless with nothing but a few smooth words.

"I don’t... I don’t know what to say," whispered Ivy, her green eyes wide as she felt the overwhelming heat radiating from his body.

"You don’t have to say anything," said Alexander, his hand sliding up from her waist to gently cup the back of her neck, his thumb brushing against her jawline. "Just let me take control."

"Yes... please," whispered Ivy yielding to his touch as she closed her eyes.

Alexander gave her a slow smile, then smoothly dropped to his knees right in front of her. He leaned in and pressed a lingering, warm kiss directly over her underwear, his breath heating her skin before he gently pulled her baggy sweatpants back up over her waist, covering the metal of her prosthesis.

He stood up to his full height, extending a hand to her with confidence.

"Come on," said Alexander, his voice low and smooth. "Let’s go have a memorable night."
