Chapter 89: Chapter 88: The Decision
Damien sat alone in his study and tried to process what had just happened.
He’d done it. He’d taken her back. Sort of. On his terms. With conditions. With control.
Was it the right choice? He had no idea.
Could he actually forgive her? Time would tell.
Could they rebuild what she’d destroyed? Maybe. If she really did submit. If she really did let him have complete control. If she proved....every single day....that she was worth the risk.
His phone buzzed. A text from Julian: "How did it go?"
Damien typed back: "She starts tomorrow. As my PA. We’ll see if she can handle what I have planned."
Julian’s response: "You’re really doing this? Giving her another chance?"
"On my terms. Complete submission. Total control. If she can’t handle it, we’re done for good."
"And if she can?"
Damien stared at the question for a long moment before responding: "Then maybe....maybe...we have a chance."
He set the phone down and looked at the necklace and earrings still sitting on his desk. His marks. His claims. The jewelry she’d left behind because she hadn’t thought she deserved them.
Tomorrow, she’d start earning the right to wear them again.
Tomorrow, she’d begin the long, painful process of rebuilding his trust.
Tomorrow, they’d both find out if love could survive betrayal.
If submission could lead to forgiveness.
If control could heal what deception had destroyed.
Tomorrow, everything would change.
Again.
But this time....this time he’d be the one in control.
And Aria would have to prove, every single day, that she was worth the risk.

ARIA’S POV - Later That Night
Aria sat in her mother’s apartment at 10 PM, staring at her phone, still trying to process what had happened.
She’d done it. She’d agreed. To everything.
Complete submission. Total control. Working as his personal assistant. Being punished when he decided she deserved it.
She should be terrified. Should be questioning whether this was healthy. Should be wondering if she was making another mistake.
Instead, she felt.....hope. For the first time in a month, she felt hope.
He still loved her. He’d said it. He still loved her even though she’d destroyed them.
And he was willing to try. On his terms, yes. With conditions and control and consequences. But he was willing to try.
That was more than she deserved. More than she’d dared to hope for.
Her phone rang. Marcus.
"Hey," she answered.
"So? How did it go? I’ve been dying here."
"He’s giving me another chance."
"That’s amazing! Aria, that’s....wait, why don’t you sound happy?"
"I am happy. I’m just....it’s complicated." She took a deep breath. "He wants me to work for him. As his personal assistant. At his company."
"You’re a doctor. You don’t know anything about being a PA."
"That’s what I said. He said I’d learn." She paused. "And there are....conditions."
"What kind of conditions?"
How could she explain? That she’d agreed to submit completely? To let him have total control? To be punished when he decided she deserved it?
"The kind that are between me and him," she finally said. "But Marcus....I agreed. To all of it. Because I love him. And I’ll do whatever it takes to prove I’ve changed."
Marcus was quiet for a moment. "Are you sure about this? It sounds....intense."
"It is intense. It’s probably going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done. But yes, I’m sure." Her voice was firm. "He’s giving me a chance. That’s more than I deserve. So I’m going to take it. And I’m going to prove to him that I’m worth the risk."
"Okay. Then I support you. Just...be careful, Aria. Protect yourself too."
"I will. I promise."
After they hung up, Aria told her mother everything. Mei listened quietly, her expression thoughtful.
"So you’re going to be his assistant," Mei finally said. "And submit to whatever he asks of you."
"Yes."
"That’s a lot of power to give someone, baby girl. Especially someone who’s hurt and angry."
"I know. But Mama...I destroyed his trust. This is what it takes to rebuild it. And I’m willing to do it."
"Are you doing it because you want him back? Or because you think you deserve to be punished?"
The question made Aria pause. "Both, maybe. Is that wrong?"
"I don’t know. Just....make sure you’re doing this for the right reasons. Make sure he’s not just using this as a way to hurt you back."
"He’s not. He still loves me. He said so." Aria’s voice was certain. "This isn’t about revenge. It’s about control. He needs control because I took it away from him. And I’m going to give it to him. Freely. Completely. Until he can trust me again."
Mei studied her daughter’s face for a long moment. Then she nodded. "Okay. If you’re sure, then I support you. Just promise me you’ll tell me if it becomes too much. If he crosses a line. If you need help."
"I promise."
That night, Aria lay in bed and tried to imagine tomorrow.
Walking into Blackwood Enterprises. Seeing him in his element....powerful, commanding, completely in control. Working beside him. Following his orders. Being under his constant supervision.
Being punished when he decided she deserved it.
The thought should terrify her. Instead, it made her feel....alive. For the first time in a month.
She’d have to quit her job at the hospital. She’d call first thing in the morning, apologize for the short notice, explain there was a family situation that required her immediate attention.
Not entirely a lie. Damien was her family. Or he would be again. If she could prove herself worthy.
She pulled out her phone and set her alarm for 5 AM. She’d need time to prepare. To dress professionally. To steel herself for whatever came next.
At 11 PM, her phone buzzed. A text from an unknown number....but she knew who it was.
"Blackwood Enterprises, 47th floor, executive suite. Report to my assistant Jennifer at 7:45 AM. She’ll show you your desk and explain your duties. Don’t be late. - D.B."
Short. Professional. No warmth. No affection. Just instructions.
She typed back: "I’ll be there. Thank you for this chance."
No response. She hadn’t expected one.
She set the phone down and whispered into the darkness: "I won’t let you down. I promise. Whatever it takes. I’ll prove I’m worth the risk."
And across the city, in his study, Damien sat holding her necklace and thinking the exact same thing:
Tomorrow, we’ll see if love can survive betrayal. If submission can lead to forgiveness. If she’s really willing to do whatever it takes.
Tomorrow, everything changes.
Again.
