Chapter 49: changing room with jark

Jark nodded his head at one of them in approval as they all made their way to the female department through the elevator.

Ding!

The elevator clicked open, and they all stepped out. Kathe was left amazed. She wasn’t expecting the female department to be so massive. From what she could see, it had different sections, or more like different stores: corporate wear, party wear, chains, necklaces, wristwatches, earrings, and even perfumes.

As they were walking past the watch section, Kathe’s eyes caught a set of silver bracelets with a tiny necklace. It wasn’t too eye-catching; it looked just like a regular necklace, and from the way it looked, it seemed like no one paid much attention to it. But its ordinary look caught Kathe’s attention.

Jark had been watching every bit of Kathe’s reaction ever since they came into the mall. Noticing that her eyes were stuck at one spot, he turned and looked at the necklace.

"Sir," Thompson called his attention after he noticed that his boss and his mistress had stood at one spot, staring into space.

Kathe turned away from the set. That was when she noticed that she and Jark were the only ones left behind the group.

"Let’s go," Jark nodded at her.

She nodded as they made their way toward Thompson. They all walked in a group again.

They finally got to the room.

The friendly one that Kathe was familiar with brought out a set of keys and stretched it toward Jark.

"Sir, this is the room. For Mrs. Kathe’s convenience, we gave all the workers a day off after learning that she is not used to the crowd."

Jark took the keys from his hands with a slight nod. They smiled at him as they walked away, including Thompson, giving the couple some privacy.

Kathe was confused. When did she say she wasn’t used to crowds? That was when she remembered that Jark had used those words at the female store in the last mall. It was meant to be just a word, but she was surprised that it had spread, reaching every ear. She couldn’t help but feel a little annoyed.

She turned to look at the man’s face.

"What a boss," she murmured under her breath as she walked inside the room, with Jark following closely behind her, ignoring her words.

She was expecting the room to be as big and wide as the previous one but was struck by reality as she was met with a single tiny room that wouldn’t be able to accommodate more than three people.

She couldn’t help but voice out her thoughts.

"The room is so tiny."

That was when she noticed that Jark had followed her inside.

"And what are you doing here?"

"I’m here to rest my legs," he said, taking his seat on the available sofa. "You can go change."

His tone was relaxed as he picked up a magazine.

Kathe’s face turned red, with different thoughts running through her mind.

’What kind of a shameless man are you?’

"You don’t expect me to change in front of you, do you?" Kathe asked as she narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously.

"If your mind isn’t full of crabs, you would have noticed that this isn’t the changing room but the waiting room," Jark’s words, filled with sarcasm, as he stared at Kathe in a mocking manner.

Kathe turned to look around, and indeed it didn’t look like the changing room. She couldn’t even sight a single dress. She had to swallow her anger in shame as she stared at him with disdain.

"Then what am I doing here?"

Jark lifted his head from the magazine, his face turning serious.

"To watch you strip."

Kathe’s heart skipped. She didn’t know why those words sent shivers down her, with different thoughts flying through her mind. She looked at him again, her eyes wide.

’I hope he isn’t trying to...’

Jark suddenly burst out laughing.

"Hahaha!"

His laughter made Kathe even more embarrassed as she realized that he had played her.

"If your mind wasn’t full of more..." He stopped his sentence halfway as his eyes met Kathe’s furious ones. "Push that board. It will take you to the changing room."

Without giving him a second look, she walked toward the wooden door.

"Don’t forget to call me in if you are in any trouble," Jark’s teasing voice rang out, making her rush into the changing room, more like she was fleeing from Jark.

Bang!

She pushed the wooden door shut.

Jark smirked at her fleeing figure, finding it amusing.

Meanwhile, Kathe was still leaning on the door, calming her boiling heart down.

Beep!

[Welcome. Hope you find your perfect taste.]

The machine’s voice startled Kathe, making her jump.

’Fuck, why is everyone after me today?’

The room’s lights suddenly shone brighter than earlier, making Kathe open her mouth in amazement.

She wasn’t expecting to be met with the beautiful scene in front of her. The changing room was ten times larger than the previous one, with different types of dresses hanging around, each giving out a unique taste.

She walked closer to the dresses, her hands brushing through all of them, yet she couldn’t find the perfect one that caught her attention. All the dresses were beautiful, more like they were meant for an award-winning ceremony. She wanted something simple, one that wouldn’t make her look much out of place.

She was about to pick a simple yellow dress until her eyes landed on a red dress that was shoved to the side, more like someone had tossed it there.

She walked to where the dress was and picked it up.

"This will do."

Thompson had rushed back to the room after getting a call from his boss, asking him to return immediately.

Jark flipped through all the female stars that were in the magazine until his eyes landed on a particular celebrity. Not her face, but more like her neck.

"I want you to get me that Blood Moonlight necklace set," he said, pointing to the celebrity’s necklace.

Thompson frowned as he stared at the necklace.

"Boss, but that is a women’s accessory..."

He suddenly came to realize that it was meant for Kathe.

"I will make sure to get the items ready."

Kathe stared at her reflection. The long red dress clung to her body like it had been perfectly made for her.

She lifted her hands to run the strap up to her neck, but all her attempts were futile. She hissed at the sharp pain that shot through her arm, her face filled with disappointment. She really wanted to fasten the strap to know how the dress would look on her.

She looked around with a frown. With no one to help out, she couldn’t help but curse Thompson silently. If he had not mentioned that she wasn’t used to crowds, the mall would have assigned her a salesperson.

Then a thought suddenly clicked in her mind, but the next second she brushed it off.

’There is no way I’m asking that pervert for help.’

Jark lifted his head from the magazine as he noticed that the changing room door was being opened. Then Kathe walked out in a red dress, her beauty captivating him. He couldn’t help but be left stunned for a moment, but he quickly masked his expression.

Kathe missed the look on Jark’s face since she was keeping her head down shyly.

"I need your help with my dress," her voice was low.

A teasing smile curled on Jark’s lips.

"Huh?"

Though her voice was low, she knew that Jark had heard her, but he decided to tease her, making her annoyed.

She raised her voice in annoyance.

"I said I need your help with something."

Her eyes met his directly.

Jark pulled his lips backward.

"Oh, with what then?"

"I need your help with my dress strap," she said, her voice low, remembering how she had banged the door at him when he had offered to help her with her dress.

"Ok."

She lifted her face up in surprise that he had just agreed without teasing her.

Jark dropped the magazine back on the sofa as he stood up and approached Kathe.

Everything about him always seemed to captivate her. His steady movement... he looked like someone that could only be brought out from a book.

He had already gotten close to her, but he noticed that she was lost, staring at him. He couldn’t help but smile, satisfied by her reaction.

"Turn around," he whispered in his husky voice.

His voice snapped her back to reality. She had seen his mouth move, but she didn’t hear his actual words.

"Huh?"

"I said, turn around."

She turned around slowly, her breath caught in her throat as she felt his fingers brush through her exposed skin.

He leaned forward and whispered,

"You found a perfect dress."

His breath tickled her back, making her move a bit.

She didn’t know if she was to reply to him or if it was more of a compliment.
