Chapter 43: Berry blast candy
Li Jun, after being disrespected by Yu Wen, reacted immediately. He grabbed the man’s wrist, his grip tight. If it were anyone else, they would be crying and begging him to let them go.
But Yu Wen felt nothing. Before Li Jun could curse him to death. Yu Wen put a lollipop in his mouth. A fruity sweetness melted on his tongue, and his pupils dilated. He had never had this candy before, but he found that he liked it. It suited his tastes for some reason.
Suspicious, he pulled it out of his mouth and looked at it. Before he could ask, Yu Wen said, "It’s berry blast flavour, my mum used them to quit smoking." Yes, Yu Wen had taken those out of his mother’s purse. Lu Anu was probably wondering why she only had two left. The other eight had been robbed by her son.
"Do you like it?" he asked, moving a lot closer without even realising it. If anyone who knew him could see him now, they would be able to tell that he was in a good mood. Too bad he didn’t realise how Li Jun affected his emotions in this moment.
Li Jun looked at the lollipop and said, "It’s good. Where did you buy these?" That’s what Yu Wen had been waiting for. He reached into his pocket, pulled out seven lollipops, and placed them in his hand.
"Here, you can have these too," he said, his expression like a dog begging for praise. Li Jun’s eyes narrowed, looking at that face half hidden in the dark. He was wondering what the hell he wanted this time.
"That’s nice of you. You must have something you want, spit it out," he said, curious to know what the hell he wanted from him.
Yu Wen wasn’t at all surprised he would ask this. This was after all their routine. One was always wanting something from the other. "I was just curious why you banned me from the club? All those years you never bothered to blacklist me, yet this time..."
Li Jun, "..."
He had to admit, he was so impulsive that day. He banned him without a second thought. But who could blame him? This man came from who knows where, inserted himself in his card game, kissed him passionately at that, and just ran off like he was the one who had been wronged. It was ridiculous.
Unwilling to answer that question, he asked, "How is your neck? Did it leave a scar?" He was clearly deflecting, and Yu Wen saw through it, but he didn’t expose him.
"Well, it’s healing well, and there won’t be a scar." He lied with a straight face. It was healing fine, but there would definitely be a scar.
With a sneer, Li Jun said, "Maybe I should have bitten harder." His voice was muffled from the candy in his mouth, but Yu Wen heard it.
In response, he suddenly blurted out, "You can make up for it if you want. I will let you take another bite." After he said it, he realised what he had done, but it was too late to take it back.
Li Jun was taken aback. He thought he must be drunk, right? That is the only thing that made sense. Otherwise, why would he say that to him? He chuckled while saying, "You are wasted, right?"
Yu Wen pursed his lips in frustration. His mother had been hanging around him a lot, yammering on about how to flirt and date. She was talking so much about it that it must have rubbed off on him. He said, "Probably... You didn’t answer my question, though."
Li Jun knew that if he didn’t answer him, Yu Wen wouldn’t let it go, so he asked, "Why do you think I banned you?" Since he wanted to talk about this, then they would talk about it.
"Is it because I left you hanging?" he whispered, leaning close to Li Jun’s ear. He was so close that he smelled the sweet scent of berry blast flavour mixed in with the man’s warm and inviting scent.
Feeling an itch on his ear from the stimulation, Li Jun pushed him away and rubbed it while saying, "Left me hanging? You provoked me first and then ran off like I had molested you. Who would have thought you would be a coward?"
He thought he would get mad at him for calling him a coward. Unexpectedly, Yu Wen chuckled and admitted it. "That was a cowardly thing. I am sorry about that. It’s just... that was the first time we kissed while I was sober, and I was a little nervous."
Li Jun, "..."
Something was definitely wrong with Yu Wen. He used to have this cold aloof air around him when speaking to him. Even after the incident, he was like an iceberg. But tonight, he had a flirtatious air about him without even trying. ’What the fuck is going on?’ he thought. What he didn’t realise was that Yu Wen’s mother had been tutoring him, and he was, unfortunately, a good learner.
Unable to bear it anymore, he said, "Well, it’s never going to happen again. If I catch you at my club, I am going to break your legs." After saying that, he walked away without looking back. His steps were hurried like he was being chased.
Li Jun was indeed fleeing. For years, he was like a rock. Nothing moved him, but just now he felt a strange feeling in his chest. Granted, it was fleeting, but it was enough to have him running.
Yu Wen chuckled, finding it amusing. Who was the one fleeing now? The way he was running, you would think he had told him he loved him.
Meanwhile, Li Jun turned to walk into the hall when Li Yu blocked his path. He was already in an unsettled mood, and she just made it worse. Intending to get rid of her fast, he asked, "What do you want?"
Li Yu was angered by his rudeness, but she wanted something from him, so she could only restrain herself. She glanced around and saw that there were too many people, so she said, "Let’s talk there."
He wanted to refuse, but he knew she would cause a scene, so he followed her. They reached an isolated spot, and he said, "Talk, I don’t have all day."
Li Yu gritted her teeth before asking, "That night, who helped Wen-ge?"
"Oh wow, you are dropping honorifics now, calling him ge with such intimacy. When is the wedding? Don’t forget to send me an invitation," he said, his tone sarcastic.
