Chapter 29: The perfect opportunity
The incessant dinging sound drove Li Jun insane. He covered his ears with the pillow and in a muffled voice, he said, "Stop." The dinging did stop. Just when he heaved a sigh, a call came in. His hand reached out from underneath the covers, fumbling for the phone. He was going to switch it off but when he saw it was his grandpa, he sat up with a start.
He was shirtless and his hair was a mess. He was in no position to see anyone but he had to answer that video call; otherwise, his grandfather would come over. He brushed his hair back and answered with a yawn. Draco’s face came on the screen. He had his head lowered, studying a mech part.
"Grandpa," he said but Draco didn’t look at him. Li Jun felt a little guilty. He had promised to come over and play chess with him but he didn’t show up. Li Jun would have told him in advance that he wouldn’t be coming but he genuinely forgot. "I was feeling unwell for the past few days," he added but he would regret ever saying it.
"If you are sick, can’t you tell your grandpa? I will send Sauron to take a look at you," he said and Li Jun’s eyes widened. Sauron was a blabbermouth. If she found something amiss, she would definitely snitch on him.
It’s not that he was afraid his grandpa would be mad at him if he found out what happened between him and Yu Wen. He was an adult and he could sleep with whomever he wanted. His grandpa didn’t police his personal matters.
What he was afraid of was that the old man would go find trouble with Yu Wen and war would break out. There was already a lot of tension and this would send them over the edge.
"Uh no, I am really fine. I just had a headache and sniffles," he said, pulling the covers up to hide his chest. There were still faint hickeys, but one had to look closely to tell what it was. Draco noticed his actions and his eye twitched, wondering what this kid was hiding from him.
Li Jun continued saying, "I am all better now. No need to make a fuss. I will come see you tomorrow." Draco didn’t pursue it. He knew if it was something serious, Li Jun would tell him.
"Alright, when you come tomorrow, I have something to tell you," he said, his tone serious. Li Jun knew something was about to go down. Draco used this type of tone when something major was about to happen.
He smiled and said, "I will come over in the morning." After hanging up the call, Li Jun slumped on the bed and sighed. He rubbed his forehead, his eyes closed. He was thinking it was about time he left this place. There was nothing for him here anyway. It was time.
The door was suddenly pushed open and he grabbed the plasma gun from his bedside and aimed it at the person who had the balls to barge into his room. Yan Jia and everyone knew not to enter his room without knocking. It could only mean someone had broken in. When he saw Yu Wen standing at his door, he was a little vexed.
He didn’t put the gun down. Instead, he said, "You must have a death wish breaking in like that," his lips curling into a menacing smirk.
Yu Wen shut the door and locked it. Yan Jia, who had just heard that the general fought his way up to the prince’s bedroom, rushed over armed, her eyes brimming with murderous intent. But when she arrived, the door was locked from the inside. Worried that her prince was in trouble, she called him.
Li Jun reached for his phone but the gun stayed aimed at Yu Wen. He answered the call, saying, "Stand down."
For the first time, Yan Jia didn’t want to follow orders. She said, "Your highness but-," but the call was hung up. She swore, "Shit!" The others were looking at her, waiting for her orders. Reluctantly, she said, "Disperse... his highness’ orders." They left as ordered but from the expressions on their faces, one could tell they weren’t too happy about it.
Meanwhile, Li Jun said, "What are you here for?"
With his hands raised slightly, he replied, "Answers."
Li Jun scoffed and with a click, he turned the safety on before putting the gun down. Yu Wen’s gaze trailed down to the man’s chest, still covered in faint traces from that night. His Adam’s apple bobbed as he looked away.
"Was it you who drugged me?" he asked but he already knew the answer to that. He just wanted to shift his attention away from the memories of him biting and sucking Li Jun’s chest and abdomen, his breathing heavy and hot.
As expected, Li Jun laughed angrily and said, "General, you should be thanking me for helping you that day. I could have thrown you out in the street and made a joke out of you. By tomorrow morning, Starnet would wake up to news of the upstanding general sexually harassing a defenceless woman... or man."
Yu Wen clenched his fist, his nails digging into his palm. His veins throbbing, he asked, "Why didn’t you? Why miss such an opportunity?"
Li Jun’s smile fell and he said, "You are right. Why would I miss this perfect opportunity? I will make sure to do that the next time. Now get lost." After saying that, he lay back in bed with his back towards Yu Wen.
Yu Wen bit his lip in frustration. After what seemed like an eternity, he asked, "Does it still hurt?" For the past few days, he had been going through a myriad of emotions. After his anger subsided, he thought it through.
There were plenty of ways Li Jun could have humiliated him but instead, he offered himself up when he didn’t need to. He could have found someone else to help him, so why didn’t he do that?
If his purpose was to humiliate him by sleeping with him, then wouldn’t it have made sense for Li Jun to fuck him instead of the other way around? The more he tried to make sense of it, the more confused he was.
Li Jun’s sexual history was public knowledge. He had been linked to countless women, not men. After doing his research, he found that it would be painful for the person below, especially if it was his first time. Recalling how they had done it three times, he felt incredibly guilty.
The man on the bed didn’t answer him, even after waiting for a long time. Yu Wen took out the medicine he brought and placed it on the bedside table. He said, "You probably don’t need it but I brought it anyway."
He placed a red jade token on the table and continued to say, "I owe you a favor. No matter where you are, any of my men will recognise it." After saying that, he waited for him to speak but Li Jun didn’t say a word, as if he had actually fallen asleep.
