Chapter 1795: Chapter 1795: Tried Every Single One
Those children basically won’t meet a good end. The good-looking ones will be nurtured, while the unattractive ones will have their hands and feet broken and tossed onto foreign streets to beg.
If they don’t get a certain amount of money every day, they will get a beating, and going hungry is a common occurrence.
Many died in the midst of heavy snow during the coldest months, wearing thin, ragged clothes and begging in the snow, quietly passing away amidst the white snow.
A Ghost Enforcer appeared before Little Taotie. He looked at the Wandering Spirits here, cross-checking the information in his notebook and began taking people away.
"Do you know what the young ghost messenger has been busy with lately?"
The Ghost Enforcer furrowed his brow, usually not supposed to interact with mortals, but he thought of how this little girl recently sent many people to reincarnate. Seeing the golden Merit around her, he decided it was best to answer courteously.
"One of his benefactors reincarnated, but... there are many dangers, so he went to protect that person."
"Does that mean he won’t be going back to work anytime soon?"
"Work?" The Ghost Enforcer realized, and his poker face showed some reaction, his lips slightly curved: "This indeed counts as work, he probably won’t be going back for a while."
Little Taotie was somewhat disappointed, it would be a while before she could see the young ghost messenger.
Ghost Enforcer: "I’ll take these people away."
Little Taotie nodded: "And the others?"
Ghost Enforcer: "Not on the list."
Little Taotie mostly understood; either those here had already become Ghost Cultivators, or they ended their lives through suicide, so the Ghost Enforcer wouldn’t take them, as they weren’t under the Underworld’s jurisdiction.
Little Taotie sighed. Through the resentment of these people, she pretty much knew their memories. Those who chose suicide could only be sent to the Ancient Pagoda, temporarily staying there, which was better than wandering as Lonely Wild Ghosts.
As for those who had already become Ghost Cultivators, Little Taotie didn’t know how to handle them for the moment.
And those Ghost Cultivators suddenly all prostrated on the ground; they were family members harmed by addicts, all innocent people. Seeing the mastermind captured gave them some relief, and now they only wanted stability.
Unable to reincarnate, they could only find a strong protector.
Little Taotie furrowed her little brows, not knowing how to turn them down.
Feng Qi drifted out from the Horse-Faced Bell, with sparkling candy stains still at the corner of his mouth.
Little Taotie puffed with anger: "I told you those were my stockpile!"
Feng Qi belched: "I just tried every single one for you."
Little Taotie stared wide-eyed in shock: "Did you lick every single one of them?"
Feng Qi laughed playfully: "How would I know if they were sweet or not without taking a lick? And every piece tastes different! I really don’t get it, how did someone like stinky tofu so much during their life? Stinky tofu-flavored candy is really peculiar!"
Little Taotie was so angry she didn’t want to speak, puffing and staring.
"Don’t just glare. Your eyeballs are so pretty; I almost want to take a lick."
Little Taotie immediately closed her eyes, not wanting to deal with Feng Qi anymore.
Feng Qi laughed heartily without restraint: "I was joking, were you really scared? Coward!"
"I am not a coward!"
Feng Qi looked at the Ghost Cultivators prostrated on the ground, "There are quite a few. Why don’t you take them in?"
Little Taotie shook her head: "Can’t afford it!"
Thinking if she took them in, she would have to share her chocolates and candies, Little Taotie felt extreme heartache.
"Then I’ll take care of them." Feng Qi grinned.
