Chapter 1736: Chapter 1736: Children Can’t Dig

Lou Lan: "Something’s odd, the harder you try, the further you’re thrown back."

Little Taotie huffed and gripped the small shovel, ready to give the ground another scoop.

Lou Lan quickly embraced the excited little one: "Don’t be reckless."

The elder squatted down, picking up a bit of soil to observe it in his palm.

"The small shovel is weak." Little Taotie didn’t want to admit she wasn’t strong enough, her childish voice somewhat guilty as she complained about the shovel.

Lou Lan didn’t expose the girl’s little thoughts; instead, she asked the elder: "Did you discover anything?"

The elder shook his head.

Everything appeared so normal it seemed unusual, for this wasn’t an ordinary place.

"Let me try." Mo Haihao took the pink small shovel from Little Taotie’s hands. A grown man wielding a pink toy shovel had a slightly comical effect.

The shovel struck down and surprisingly — it dug in!

He succesfully scooped out a large chunk of soil.

Little Taotie was shocked, her eyes wide, pupils filled with skepticism.

"Let me try!" A colleague stepped forward.

Mo Haihao handed him the shovel; without much effort, he succeeded.

Then another colleague tried.

Each one succeeded.

Someone looked at Little Taotie, laughing: "Little Taotie, were you joking around with us?"

"We know you’re a good actor; you almost fooled us."

"Yeah, such great acting."

Little Taotie: "..."

The little girl moved her lips and then closed them, not saying a word, not even muttering.

She seemed withdrawn, caught in questioning life, questioning herself, staring at her own chubby little hands.

Unable to believe her strength had failed.

"Maybe it’s just restraining you." Hua Jinyan’s voice sounded beside her.

Little Taotie drooped her eyelids: "Then you try, can your strength dig it?"

"Forget it." Hua Jinyan shook his head.

Little Taotie stirred: "No way, you have to try."

Reluctantly, Hua Jinyan could only swing the shovel down.

"Bang!"

The same scene as Little Taotie occurred.

Hua Jinyan was bounced back several steps, continuously retreating, seemingly unable to stop, akin to a sniper thrown back by recoil.

Little Taotie grabbed him to halt his retreat.

Little Taotie suspiciously said: "You’re not pretending, right?"

Hua Jinyan spread his hands: "Do I need to?"

Little Taotie stared at the flower on his head for a while, confirmed he wasn’t lying, and then puzzledly asked: "Is it targeting age? Bullying kids?"

Everyone present laughed.

Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan glared unpleasantly, unable to restore their silence, while several usually mischievous colleagues laughed louder.

"No laughing!" With Lou Lan recognized by the Special Department as the Witch speaking, everyone quieted down.

Little Taotie gazed up at Lou Lan with admiration, wishing to grow up and be like her teacher; a single word could quiet everyone.

If Lou Lan knew what Little Taotie was thinking, she would surely tell her, amused: You have to speak to silence everyone; that’s not impressive. Real strength is a single glance making everyone shut up.

"Let’s dig first and see. Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan take a break; others take turns digging." The elder spoke.

The colleagues who were originally idle and teasing Little Taotie were called to do the hard work, burying their heads in digging.

But Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan relaxedly stood aside, with nothing to do, inviting quite the envy.

Hua Jinyan took out a bottle of milk tea: "Want some?"

Little Taotie nodded, thus gaining a bottle of milk tea, sipping slowly and enjoying it leisurely.

The diggers: "..."

Envy and jealousy nearly written all over their faces!
