Chapter 109: A gift
"Is there anything else?" Vlad asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes," Seraphina nodded as she drew a long, rectangular box from her storage ring. The box was made of polished crimson wood, its surface gleaming softly under the warm light of the office. She placed it carefully on her table and revealed, "Father wanted me to give this to you."
"Eh?" Vlad raised an eyebrow as he unlocked the metallic clips on either side of the box. Inside, a longsword rested on a soft cushion at the centre, nestled securely in place. Its scabbard was crafted from smooth black leather, adorned with intricate, swirling designs of dragons and phoenixes etched across its surface. The silver hilt had a crimson gem embedded at the pommel, carrying the emblem of the crimson flame of House Cendral.
Vlad slowly moved his hand forward, grabbed the hilt, and lifted the sword from the box, feeling its satisfying weight settle in his grip.
Ding...

"This sword can record your skills, movements, and the weight behind each of your strikes," Seraphina revealed, feeling slightly awkward. "Father wanted you to use this trial sword to record your skills so he can ask Uncle Bran to make a custom sword for you."
"T-trial sword!? But this looks incredible!" Vlad exclaimed, shock and happiness palpable on his face. Just from the appearance alone, he could tell that it was an exceptionally expensive weapon, one he could not even dream of buying even after selling all the farms he owned. Yet Seraphina was casually calling it a trial sword.
"Wait a minute," he flinched as he recalled her words again, words he had overlooked in the excitement of receiving such a fine weapon. "By Uncle Bran, you certainly do not mean Bran Vordrek, one of the five heroes, right?" Vlad asked, taking a nervous gulp.
"Who else would I be calling Uncle Bran? He is a close friend of my father," Seraphina revealed with a casual shrug, as if merely stating the obvious.
Vlad was now feeling an immense wave of gratitude towards the girl standing before him. Not only had she triggered the Main Quest and given him a sword of clearly high class, but she was also going to ask the greatest blacksmith of the continent to forge a custom weapon for him.
"A-are you by chance an angel, Sera?" Vlad asked, his voice carrying not even the slightest hint of sarcasm.
"Wh-what are you babbling, idiot?" she muttered, her eyes lowering in embarrassment.
’This will not even be counted as compensation, given the hell you will suffer once grandma learns about you,’ she sighed inwardly, feeling a pang of guilt for hiding it from Vlad.
What could she even do but keep it hidden? She was too embarrassed to reveal it to him, not to mention the unwanted attention from high nobles Vlad would receive once everyone found out that he was her Bloodbound. She was definitely not hiding it because she was afraid of Vlad’s reaction when he eventually learned about it. Definitely not.
"Sera, is it really alright for me to take this?" Vlad asked, still finding it difficult to accept such an extravagant reward.
"You should not be saying that while already putting the sword in your storage ring," she replied, rolling her pink eyes with a scoff.
Despite his words, his actions were more truthful to his nature. He had already secured the sword safely into his storage ring, just in case she might have second thoughts. More accurately, the storage ring was the reward he had received when he slapped the professor during his enrollment. He had only just recently activated the ring by channeling his mana into it.
"Hehe, thank you, I really appreciate the gift," Vlad awkwardly laughed, rubbing the back of his head.
Seraphina checked the time on the wristwatch she was wearing. It was already seven in the evening. She took a glance at Vlad, who had an uncontrollable smile of excitement gleaming on his face as if he might just jump in joy at any moment.
She grabbed her bag from the table, shoved it into Vlad’s hands, and declared, "I am going to the cafeteria for dinner. Carry my bag, errand boy."
"Your wish is my command, Lady Sera~" Vlad instantly replied, not even a hint of a frown on his forehead, the kind she usually saw whenever she ordered him around.
"Pets really love treats, huh?" she murmured under her breath, shaking her head as she moved out of the office.
As they walked through the hallway of the building, Vlad took his phone out and texted Chloe.
---
Vlad: Where are you? Have you eaten?
Chloe: In my room. I already had my dinner with Senior Raphael.
Vlad: He treated you to dinner and you are already addressing him respectfully?
Chloe: Bleghhh... Unlike certain someone who made me do annoying running on the treadmill, Senior Raphael treated me to yummy dinner.
Vlad: Fine then, from now on eat with Raphael only. Bye!!
Chloe: Ok : )
---
’Th-this little piggy,’ Vlad muttered inwardly, his grip tightening on the phone from the sheer audacity of this gremlin. While he was worrying whether she had eaten, she was already comfortably lying on her bed, having her dinner without him.
His eyes were still fixed on the phone when he suddenly bumped into something soft. He lowered his eyes, finding Seraphina standing before him with her arms crossed over her chest, her pink eyes narrowed at him with clear irritation.
"Why did you suddenly sto—"
Before he could finish the question, Seraphina grabbed him by the tie and muttered in a low, irritated tone, "You have quite the audacity, commoner. It is the second time you are focusing on another girl while accompanying me."
She pulled him closer, her rosy fragrance filling his senses as she continued, "Should I take that as an insult... or do you simply lack the self-control to keep your eyes where they belong?"
