Chapter 1950: Chapter 868: Advancement and Beginning (2)

"It’s right there!"

Rod immediately spotted a heart composed of black fog. It had no soul, but it was rapidly throbbing, seemingly summoning more black fog.

Bang!

Rod stepped in front of it, and the Giant Divine Sword, infused with 50 units of divine power, pierced the dark heart instantly. A torrent of black water spewed from the heart, and the dense black fog nearly engulfed him.

"Master, be careful! This is the Eighth Level Source Black Fog!" The voice of the Book of Knowledge suddenly echoed in his ear.

Rod reacted swiftly, instantly dispersing the Giant Divine Sword, and injected all divine power into the [Bright Red Tears]. Intense red light immediately enveloped his body. He braved the highly intense black fog, reached out, and touched the dream fragment eagerly calling out in his soul.

The back of his hand burned for an instant, and Rod leaped away, with a line of gray text floating before his eyes.

Soulless Soul Flower +15949

This was a special black fog entity.

A thought flickered in Rod’s mind as he saw the dark heart explode in frenzied tremors. The powerful black fog spread like ink in water, and a larger wave of black fog descended from the starry sky. Knowing it was unwise to linger, he immediately activated the [Spirit Realm Ship] and returned to the dream realm.

Upon stepping into the dream realm, Rod realized a large part of his soul had already turned black. Intense pain throbbed in his spirit, and terrifying noise echoed in his thoughts. Knowing he was already eroded, he immediately consumed several Flowers of Humanity and swallowed some Goddess’ Tears before he felt better.

The Book of Knowledge spoke with concern, "Master, such strong black fog clusters appearing even in the high-level spirit realm is a very ominous sign. If my guess is correct, the black fog’s tidal wave should descend upon the Main Material World in a few days, and the spirit realm and high-level spirit realm will also be affected."

Rod’s mood turned heavy as he realized everything they were experiencing was a precursor to the black fog’s tidal wave, the ascending phase of the dark chaos. And when it peaked, a great catastrophe would arrive.

Yet, seeing the back of his hand, his heart trembled again. There was more than one pattern on it, no wonder this dream fragment was so large.

"Great, Master!" the Book of Knowledge shouted in delight, "This dream fragment contains two dream structures, bringing the dream closer to completeness!"

Rod was overjoyed and quickly restored the first structure—surprisingly, it was an Obelisk.

When the gray gas covered the Obelisk, an additional larger base appeared beneath the ancient structure. Flipping through its pages, the Book of Knowledge said joyfully, "Master, besides recording former Masters of Dreams, the Obelisk’s most important role is transforming dream envoys. A complete Obelisk can transform dream envoys more quickly."

The greatest role of dream envoys is that everything they do provides Rod with divinity. He looked at the back of the Obelisk, where the names had become five: Molly, Anna, Kashan, Frank, and Teresa. The base was engraved with more names, mostly ordinary members of the Black Battle Group. Notably, Mephit’s name was on the base, appearing fainter than the others. Qingyu’s name was also there, but not complete, indicating Qingyu couldn’t be considered a full dream envoy.

Rod turned his gaze to the Obelisk, seeing that the dream’s completeness had now reached sixty percent.

Indeed, the Obelisk took up five percent; it was evidently a crucial part of the dream.

Rod was pleased and came to an open area where the Tower of Ashes appeared. It was a peculiarly shaped high tower, with dim gray dust swirling around its body, appearing quite ancient and worn.

The Book of Knowledge softly said, "The Tower of Ashes, the twin tower of the Star Tower, can signify the embers of stars."

Rod gazed up at the high tower, with the dream’s completeness now reaching seventy percent, indicating its undeniable importance.

His fingertip lightly touched, and countless gray dust swirled around him, forming a unique gray dirt curtain. A distinctive figure appeared on the curtain, wearing blue helmet and armor, with a valiant form, wielding a longsword as if in training.

"Isn’t that..." Rod immediately recognized it: "Isn’t that Alan?"

He instantly recalled that the embers of the [Chaos Crystal Wall] were on Alan.

"But it’s already become Alan’s Fire Spark; how do I get it back?"

The Book of Knowledge flipped its pages, contemplating, "Master, perhaps there is some way to reclaim the embers without affecting Alan."

Rod nodded, temporarily setting this matter aside; he had more important matters to attend to—

Igniting a new star, the [King of Night].

[Requires 1 Great Divine Soul, 50 Root Origin, 5000 Soul Firewood]

For Rod at this moment, these requirements posed no issue. He quickly prepared the Soul Firewood and entered the Soul Wilderness, arriving before the Star Ash.

The moment had finally arrived; it had been far too long since he’d ignited a new star.

Yet, strangely, Rod didn’t feel the excitement he once had, only an unparalleled calm. He extended his hand, casting 5000 Soul Firewood into the ashes, and a faintly black flame ignited.

This blackness was entirely different from the darkness of the black fog. While containing immense power, it also appeared exceedingly calm, lacking the horror and eeriness of the black fire.
