"Jiaojiao, Jiaojiao, are you going to the party tonight?" Lu Zishu yelled through the door.
Ruan Jiaojiao wasn’t sure if the door was locked or not, so she quickly pushed Duan Xi away and climbed off the bed. Outside, Lu Zishu was still banging on the door, making it shake with each knock.
Ruan Jiaojiao opened the door, and his hand was still raised.
Ruan Jiaojiao glared at him: "You’re going to break the door. Who’s all going to the party tonight?"
"It’s not that easy to break. It’s just a few of us and some high school classmates. Are you coming... Wow, why is your face as red as a monkey’s butt?" Lu Zishu pointed at her face and shouted halfway through his sentence.
"Can you even talk? If you can’t, just shut up." Ruan Jiaojiao stretched out her foot and kicked him angrily.
"Jiaojiao, you... what were you guys doing with the door closed! Haha, I know, you must have been doing something naughty..." Seeing Duan Xi walk out from behind, Lu Zishu acted like he’d discovered a big secret. But he fell silent under Duan Xi’s increasingly cold stare.
He instinctively touched his now-healed nose bridge, feeling it sting again under that gaze!
He cowardly retreated two steps, feeling it was a safe distance, before asking Ruan Jiaojiao, "So, are you guys coming? I’ll make plans for you if you go."
Ruan Jiaojiao glanced at Duan Xi, then nodded, "Yeah, of course, we’re coming."
"Alright, then I’ll count the two of you in." With that, Lu Zishu turned and dashed off as if there were ghosts chasing him.
In the evening.
After dinner at home, a group of people headed to the agreed location for the party.
The venue was a dance hall, and they’d booked a private room. When Ruan Jiaojiao and the others arrived, there were already several familiar faces inside.
"Jiaojiao, over here!" Yang Tao sat at the innermost part of the room, choosing songs. She immediately waved when she saw Ruan Jiaojiao.
There were two other girls beside her, also classmates.
Ruan Jiaojiao led Yu Rou over. Knowing Yang Tao’s close relationship with Ruan Jiaojiao, the two girls sitting next to Yang Tao quickly made room. Ruan Jiaojiao greeted them with smiles before sitting down next to Yang Tao with Yu Rou.
"Yu Rou? It’s really you! I thought I was seeing things for a second!" Yang Tao exclaimed in surprise when she saw Yu Rou sitting down with Ruan Jiaojiao.
In Beidu for two years, Yang Tao often visited the Ruan Family because she was with Ruan Lei, and occasionally encountered Yu Rou, so she knew her.
But she hadn’t expected Yu Rou to come back with Ruan Jiaojiao.
"It’s me, I’m just here traveling," Yu Rou explained with a smile.
"Oh, our place is such a shabby corner, nothing much to see." Yang Tao waved her hand at this and offered the songbook: "Wanna sing? I’ll pick a song for you." She enthusiastically handed Yu Rou the songbook, eager to help her choose a song.
Ruan Jiaojiao wasn’t really interested in singing. She noticed something off about Yang Tao; since entering the room, Yang Tao hadn’t glanced at Ruan Lei, nor had Ruan Lei come over—they’d just settled in with the boys.
She leaned in and asked, "Xiaotiao, have you broken up with Lei brother again?"
Why "again?" Because since they started dating in their freshman year, it’s been a whole five years, and they’ve split up more times than she could count on her fingers and toes!
