Chapter 463: Chapter 336: Disappearance of the Ancient City (Part 3)

Gu looks a bit better, but he still can’t move much. I told him the Ancient City is going to vanish, and we all need to leave quickly.

Gu asked me about the core, and I told him it was hijacked by someone really powerful. The core’s negative effects have already been neutralized.

Gu said that’s good. Little Red lifted him up on its own initiative, and we left the power room together.

On the way, Gu asked me if Little Red was non-human. He asked so frankly and openly, I figured after witnessing Little Red’s battle with flying creatures, it was hard not to suspect its identity.

Stung all over by insect tails, looking like a porcupine, yet no blood spilled, no harm done, and once the needles were pulled out, the skin immediately returned to normal. If it were a normal person, Gu would suspect he himself was abnormal.

"It saved me, I wouldn’t be an ungrateful brute and betray it." Seeing I didn’t respond, Gu chuckled bitterly.

"It’s nothing really, just AI and high-tech." I said vaguely.

"A robot?" Gu seemed a bit surprised.

His reaction puzzled me, hadn’t he thought in this direction?

"What else could it be?" I retorted.

"Never mind, I hadn’t thought... technology is so advanced now."

"Who said it was a modern creation, it’s an ancient robot."

Gu was even more stunned, speechless for a moment. Little Red shook its head: "No, to you guys, I’m an Ancient robot."

Hearing that, Gu actually laughed. Perhaps he found this robot a bit adorably naive.

"What about that person?" Gu suddenly remembered and asked.

"He’s not coming with us." I didn’t mention Wuyong, the fewer people knew about her existence, the better. Otherwise, I’d have to explain things about her.

"Do you know who took the core?" Gu still asked with some concern.

"Yes, it was a particularly powerful person. They’re part of a team, came to the Ancient City, all full of energy. We definitely couldn’t take them on."

"To have acquired information about the Ancient City and made it here unscathed, their skills should surpass ours. Anyway, is your team okay?"

"Yeah, they’re alright. We found who we were looking for."

"You found Miss Tang and her father?"

"That’s right, they looked alright, no major injuries."

"What about the person who brought her?"

"You mean the expert in your team?"

"Yes. And the people he brought along."

"In the ditch beneath the core, I saw a few corpses, wearing what you described. To me, they looked like ordinary corpses, nothing as mysterious as you said."

"Maybe only a few within their team were abnormal." Judging by Gu’s look, he seemed unsure too.

"But I didn’t see that expert you mentioned." At least not among the corpses; perhaps that person is still alive—as an expert, they surely have some ways to save themselves.

"Without the core, if they’re still alive, they would also leave the Ancient City."

Chatting, Gu and I walked towards the city gate. Little Red carried him and moved swiftly, even faster than I could push the tricycle.

We practically ran to the city gate to meet up with Chen Qinghan and the others. Suddenly, a loud explosion came from behind us. The tallest stone building in the city broke in half, the upper part crumbling like a sandcastle, falling apart and turning into dust.

Stones turned to flying dust, like the debris stirred up by an explosion. Quickly, one building after another collapsed, and the ground began to sink after the vibrations.

The Ancient City really started to collapse. Watching the sinking ground inching closer to us, we urgently sent someone to open the big gate.

But the gate’s mechanism was already damaged when we touched it, so we just smashed the wooden gate with a shovel. Everyone dashed out against the swirling dust.

Perhaps the underground structures outside the city were damaged, but the underground mechanisms didn’t attack us. Even though we opened the gate in an improper way, we didn’t trigger the underground mechanism array.

However, not only were the buildings inside collapsing, but the area of collapse was expanding outward. We had no choice but to keep running until the ground stopped sinking before we dared to catch our breath.

I didn’t see Ou Chen and Wuyong come out. Supposedly, the Ancient City has only this one way out, just this one gate. Designed initially for defense convenience, they only left one entrance and exit. For Ou Chen and Wuyong to come out, they must take this path.

Did they not make it?

Recalling what Ou Chen said at that moment, it all seemed like a final farewell.

The worms on Wuyong might have been created by Big Head’s will. With Big Head’s death, the illusion returned to its original form, and Wuyong might not survive. I turned back to look at the Ancient City’s location, now a huge pit. The surrounding sand flowed like water, or as if drawn by a powerful suction, soon filling the pit.
