Chapter 54: Making Music
Morning sunlight slowly poured through the bedroom window.
Li Lian’s eyes fluttered open.
For several seconds, she simply laid there quietly beside Shen Tian while listening to his calm breathing.
Then reality suddenly hit her.
Her face instantly turned red.
"...Ow."
Trying to slowly get out of bed, Li Lian immediately realized her legs barely worked anymore.
The moment she stood up...
Her legs gave out beneath her.
"Ah!"
She fell forward slightly before catching herself against the edge of the bed.
The noise instantly woke Shen Tian up.
He opened one eye before quietly chuckling at the sight.
"You should’ve let me help you."
Li Lian immediately tried maintaining her usual elegant expression despite the embarrassment threatening to kill her.
"I’m fine..."
Unfortunately...
Her trembling legs completely ruined the act.
Shen Tian got out of bed before casually walking around and helping support her.
"It seems I’ll need to help you shower too."
Li Lian’s ears immediately turned red.
Still...
She gave a small nod.
"...Just don’t take forever."
Shen Tian smirked slightly.
"Also, I need to talk to you about something."
Not long afterward, the two entered the large bathroom together.
Warm water slowly ran down while Shen Tian helped wash Li Lian’s hair.
Then suddenly, Shen Tian spoke again.
"I want to make a song with Chu Zijin."
Plop.
Li Lian accidentally dropped the soap.
Then she slowly glanced back toward him.
"...Why?"
Her expression subtly darkened.
"Why not make a song with me instead? Why her?"
Shen Tian calmly continued washing her hair while answering.
"She’s one of Chu Fang’s heroines."
Li Lian quietly listened.
"And I don’t think you want her falling for him either."
Hearing that, the darkness in Li Lian’s eyes slowly faded.
A little bit of understanding returned.
"...I guess you’re right."
Then Shen Tian lightly flicked some water toward her forehead.
"So help me out a little. And besides..."
A grin appeared on his face.
"I’ll make a song with you too."
Li Lian instantly turned fully around.
"You promise?"
"Yes."
Shen Tian nodded confidently.
Then suddenly, he smirked mischievously.
"You got soap in your eyes."
Li Lian immediately blinked several times while rubbing at her eyes weakly.
"...I know."
After drying off and getting dressed, Shen Tian and Li Lian headed downstairs.
Yin Suyi was already in the kitchen, humming a cheerful tune to herself while cooking breakfast.
The moment she noticed the two of them, her eyes lit up.
"Sit down, sit down! I made pancakes!"
Shen Tian and Li Lian took their seats at the dining table.
"Thank you, Mrs. Yin..." Li Lian said politely.
Yin Suyi immediately placed a plate of pancakes in front of her.
Then she wagged a finger.
"No, no. Call me Mother-in-Law."
Li Lian nearly choked.
Her face instantly turned red.
After a few seconds of hesitation, she quietly lowered her head.
"...Mother-in-Law."
Yin Suyi froze.
Then she practically exploded.
"SO CUTE!!!"
She immediately rushed over and hugged Li Lian from behind.
"My son has such good taste!"
Shen Tian could only sigh.
His mother was embarrassing.
Yin Suyi eventually let Li Lian go and placed another plate in front of Shen Tian.
"Thanks, Mom."
He picked up his fork and started eating.
Throughout breakfast, Yin Suyi kept asking increasingly embarrassing questions.
"When are you two getting married?"
"When am I getting grandchildren?"
"How many children do you want?"
"Do you want boys or girls?"
By the end of the meal, Li Lian looked like she wanted to crawl under the table and disappear.
Eventually, they finished eating and escaped the mansion.
Once inside the car, Li Lian finally let out a sigh of relief.
Shen Tian started the engine.
"Did you text her?"
"Yeah."
Li Lian nodded.
"She’s already on her way to the music studio."
A smile appeared on Shen Tian’s face.
"Perfect. Then let’s go."

At the music studio, Chu Zijin was practically buzzing with excitement.
She had her phone out, rapidly texting her fellow senior sisters about the good news.
Then she heard a car pull into the parking lot.
Looking outside, she immediately spotted Shen Tian and Li Lian.
Her eyes lit up.
She quickly put her phone away and hurried to greet them.
Soon, the three entered the studio and found an available recording booth.
Shen Tian and Chu Zijin stepped inside while Li Lian remained outside to handle the equipment and recording setup.
"Do you have any lyrics in mind?" Chu Zijin asked curiously.
"Of course."
Shen Tian handed over a sheet of lyrics.
The moment Chu Zijin read the first few lines, her eyes widened.
"This is beautiful... I can already feel the emotions."
Shen Tian smiled.
"Good. Then let’s begin."
The two stood side by side in front of the microphones.
Their shoulders lightly touched.
Chu Zijin’s face immediately warmed.
But she didn’t move away.
Outside the booth, Li Lian finished adjusting the controls and gave them a thumbs up.
"We’re recording."
Shen Tian nodded.
Then the music began.
Together, they sang:
"Can we pretend that airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars..."
The moment the first line left Shen Tian’s mouth, Chu Zijin froze.
His voice was simply too good.
It felt unreal.
Divine.
Her mind went blank.
Shen Tian continued smoothly.
"I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now..."
Chu Zijin stared at him in a daze.
’How can someone sing this well...?’
Outside the booth, Li Lian was just as captivated.
Even though she had already heard him sing before, she still found herself completely immersed every time.
His voice carried an indescribable charm.
By the time the song ended, both women finally snapped back to reality.
Shen Tian looked at Chu Zijin and laughed.
"You know we’re supposed to sing together, right?"
Chu Zijin’s face instantly turned red.
"Sorry..."
She lowered her head in embarrassment.
"It’s alright."
Shen Tian waved it off.
"Let’s do another take."
This time, Chu Zijin forced herself to focus.
The recording started again.
Together, they sang the entire song from beginning to end.
Every note blended perfectly.
Every lyric flowed naturally.
By the end of the session, Li Lian had already finished mixing the vocals with the instrumental track.
The final product sounded incredible.
The entire recording process had taken barely over an hour.
Looking at the finished file, Li Lian couldn’t help but smile.
"It’s ready. We can release it whenever we want."
