Chapter 47: He Almost Killed Me
Vivian’s eyes shone happily once she heard what Rita said, and she suddenly jumped at Rita again!
"Thank you, Rita! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I knew it! You actually love me, don’t you! Ah, we’ll make the perfect sister-wives! We’ll be best friends when we marry Percy!"
Rita clicked her tongue, and she carried Vivian off her like a stray cat again!
"Don’t make me regret this, you little deviant."
Vivian laughed happily with a wide smile! It was obvious that nothing could ruin her mood at that moment, and Rita just rolled her eyes. Percy spoke up calmly.
"Are you sure about this, Rita? You don’t have to..."
"No, it’s fine. You two haven’t seen each other in a long time, and this little pest will have to go back to the palace soon, so it’s okay for you to spend a day with her. Managing the library isn’t a problem."
Rita smiled at Percy, and Percy smiled thankfully. It was moments like these that made Percy really love Rita. It was obvious she cared about his relationships with others very much!
"Can you please not carry the princess like she’s a stray cat. Regardless of her recent behaviour, she is still a member of the royal family."
Fio spoke up from the side while glaring at Rita, and Rita gave the rabbit girl a hard stare that made Fio’s entire body shiver in fear! Fio felt her head drop slightly as she tried to avoid the predatory gaze of the vampire, and Vivian immediately spoke up in defence of her maid!
"Don’t look at Fio like that! Don’t you know how terrifying you are!?"
Rita rolled her eyes, and she put Vivian down before speaking to Percy.
"The meal is ready, baby. Can you call Lana and Viva to – oh, never mind, they’re already here."
"I’m never going back in there again!"
Viva’s loud voice echoed from the storage room door as she stormed out with a panicked look on her face, and Lana spoke up from behind Viva with a laugh!
"Oh, don’t be such a baby! Harry didn’t mean to scare you! He just wanted to say hello."
"You don’t actually expect me to believe that! That monster almost ate me!"
"But he didn’t!"
Lana couldn’t believe Viva was such a baby! When the giant male basilisk appeared behind Viva, she had been far too terrified to even move, but Lana had been there to make sure that the basilisk didn’t eat her! Lana knew that Harry was a bit of a dick since he always tried to scare anyone who came into the storage room, but that didn’t mean Harry was going to eat them! Viva was acting like she almost died or something!
Viva stormed into the library with a scowl, and she was about to tell Percy about her horrible experience, but she stopped when she noticed that they weren’t alone in the library. Viva’s eyes travelled from the rabbit-eared maid towards the blond princess, and her eyes widened in shock!
"Y-Your highness!"
Viva immediately bowed to the princess respectfully, and the princess gave Viva a curious smile.
"Hello. I don’t believe we’ve met before."
Viva stood up and snapped a salute while introducing herself!
"No, we haven’t met before, your highness! My name is Viva Montgomery! I am the Aquinas City Guard tasked with your protection in this library!"
Vivian was surprised when she heard this, and Vivian’s eyes slowly traveled across Viva’s attire before stopping at Viva’s long exposed legs.
"I... see. You’ve certainly integrated into your environment."
Viva’s cheeks burned with embarrassment as she realized what the Princess was talking about! Viva’s short maid’s gown was just far too revealing for it to be seen as something normal, and Viva couldn’t believe she allowed Rita to talk her into wearing this! Once she gets a chance, Viva is going to burn this gown to cinders!
"Thank you for your hard work, officer. I’ll have to trouble you for help in the future."
The princess spoke up in a refined voice while expertly avoiding the topic of Viva’s short dress, and Viva realized that the princess was just trying to be nice! This only made Viva even more embarrassed, and Viva’s cheeks burned as she bowed to the princess.
Once they were done with their greeting, Rita told Viva and Lana to come along so they could have dinner. Lana cheered happily as she ran up to Rita, and Viva hesitated for a moment before she followed behind them. Percy turned to the princess and her maid, and he spoke kindly.
"You two can join us if you want."
Fio shook her head.
"I apologise, Master Percy, but the princess must get back to her lodging –"
"We’d love to join you, Percy! Come on, Fio!"
Vivian didn’t even allow Fio to finish what she had been saying before she grabbed her hand, and Fio cried out in surprise as Vivian pulled her to follow after Rita! Fio had a worried expression on her face, and she told Vivian that the guards would be expecting them back soon, but Vivian said that it was fine! Vivian was the princess, so her guards had to do whatever she told them!
Vivian immediately jogged up to Rita and began asking her about the adventures that they had during their travels, and Rita did her best to ignore the excited princess! Percy watched the women going up the stairs while talking excitedly, and he smiled as he followed behind them.

[The Vampire Army Camping Grounds]
Shoon!
A loud sound echoed through the area as a teleportation circle appeared at the top of a mountain overlooking a massive valley, and three people walked out from the circle. At the front of the group was a snake demihuman named Serevas. Serevas had snake-like green eyes and a long face with a long forked tongue that peeked out from his lips every now and then. He was one of the lieutenants in the Aquinas City Guard, and behind him were two other members of the guards who were under his direct command.
"This is the last location, sir. I’m picking up a high mana density reading on my scanner."
One of the men behind Serevas spoke up once they appeared, and Serevas hummed as he looked around the massive valley with narrowed eyes. The city guards had felt a massive surge of mana in this region a few days ago, and they had been searching the entire valley to try and find out what had caused the mana surge.
But no matter how much they searched the valley, they hadn’t been able to find anything yet, and the guards were slowly starting to think that they had just been mistaken. Ever since the previous investigation, where the evil demihuman Beelzebub was discovered to be responsible for multiple murders around the city, all the guards in the city had been on full alert as they tried to keep an eye out for any more signs of evil demihumans or cults. And with the news of the princess’ arrival in the city, that alertness had been dialed all the way up to eleven, so they were making sure to investigate every single incident that looked suspicious!
One of the men behind Serevas was using a special eye skill called [Magic Scanner] that allowed him to pick up inconsistencies in the magic within a certain area. It was very common for mages to use illusion magic to try and hide in plain sight. But that doesn’t mean you couldn’t still notice them!
