Chapter 46: We Can Share Him!
"I missed you so much, Percy. You didn’t come see me for ten years."
Percy slowly put Vivian down, and he gave her an apologetic smile.
"Sorry about that. I’ve just been really busy."
Percy and Vivian had a history that stretched all the way back to before Percy even met Rita! The first time Percy saw Vivian was when he was summoned to this world! Back then, Vivian had only been a little girl who held her mother’s dress shyly and ran away from strangers. Percy and Vivian hadn’t even spoken at that time, and Percy was always away from the castle for long periods since he needed to fight in multiple wars.
Percy only came back to the castle every two or three years, and as time passed, Vivian got older, and she began to develop an interest in Percy. After some time, Vivian began asking Percy to tell her stories about his adventures, and Percy happily spent hours with her in the garden and told her about everything he saw out there in the world!
The two of them became extremely close after this, and by the time the war ended, Vivian had already started following Percy around like he was her mother duck and she was his baby duckling! So it was a complete shock to Vivian when she learned on a random day that Percy was going to be leaving the kingdom to go on a journey around the world!
Vivian was a princess, and so she had been trained not to cry in public, but on that day, Vivian had wept uncontrollably as she tried to make Percy not leave!
Vivian had only been a ten-year-old girl back then, so there was no way to explain to her that Percy was tired of the excessive bloodshed and he needed some time away from the rest of the world. But Percy promised Vivian that he would return someday, and that was the only thing that allowed her to let him go! And now, ten years after their last goodbye, Percy was finally back!
Vivian pulled back slightly to look at Percy’s face with a wide smile, and Vivian caressed Percy’s cheeks as she studied his handsome appearance! Even after ten years, Percy had still not aged a day, and Vivian felt an intense burst of emotion somewhere deep in her heart! All the desire and love that Vivian had been holding onto for the past ten years came pouring out at the same time, and Vivian couldn’t stop herself from leaning forward and planting a kiss right on Percy’s lips! Percy’s eyes widened in shock, and Fio shouted from the side!
"Princess!"
Percy quickly put his hands on Vivian’s shoulders and pulled away from the kiss, and he looked to the side quickly to make sure that Rita wasn’t standing there! Thankfully, Rita was not there, and Percy let out a long breath before he finally looked at Vivian’s blushing face. Vivian was staring up at him with an adoring gaze, and she spoke in a voice filled with desire.
"I-I’m old enough to get married now, Percy. You said you would come back for me, didn’t you? You promised."
Percy honestly didn’t know what to say to that. It was true that Percy had promised to come back for her, but he didn’t remember ever saying he would come back to marry her! Percy let out a calm breath, and he spoke in an understanding tone.
"Vivian, you know I’m together with Rita, don’t you?"
Vivian nodded quickly, and her next words actually shocked Percy into silence!
"I don’t mind! I can be your second wife!"
"Oh? Is that so?"
A voice suddenly spoke up from the side, and Percy turned to see Rita standing there with a dangerous smile on her face. Percy could see that there was a storm brewing behind Rita’s eyes, and Percy was about to try and calm her down, but Vivian suddenly shouted happily!
"RITA!"
Vivian ran towards Rita happily, and she completely ignored Rita’s angry expression as she jumped on Rita and hugged her! Rita’s face was still set in a look of annoyance, but Rita couldn’t stop herself from smiling slightly as she patted the excited girl on the back a few times!
"I missed you so much, Rita!"
Vivian swung her legs excitedly while hanging off Rita’s neck, and Rita rolled her eyes.
"Yes, yeah, I missed you too, little Vivian. Now get off me."
Rita carried Vivian by the back of her dress and put her on the floor like a stray cat before she asked.
"What was this I heard about you trying to marry my Percy?"
Rita finally got back to the main topic at hand as she glared down at the shorter woman with an intense gaze! Vivian’s cheeks burned red from embarrassment, and she looked to the floor while wringing her hands together nervously!
"Uhm... I just thought... maybe we can both... share him."
There was a beat of silence in the library as everyone in the room allowed those words to digest slowly, and then Rita spoke.
"If you touch him, I’ll kill you."
Vivian looked up immediately and cried out!
"But Rita! That’s not fair!"
"Fair? Why in the world would I be fair with anything? I claimed him first; therefore, I get to keep him."
"B-But I knew him before you! I was here first, so I should be the one with him!"
Rita scoffed!
"Why should I care about who met him first? And besides, you were far too young when you first met him. You’re practically a little sister to him."
Vivian pouted up at Rita with tears gathering at the edge of her eyes.
"I’m not going to lose to you, Rita!"
"Princess, please, remember who you are..."
Fio spoke up from the side in embarrassment when she saw that her princess was starting to act spoiled! Fio already knew that the Princess only acted this way around Percy, but it was just so embarrassing to watch! Percy just laughed as he watched the entire exchange! What in the world was wrong with these women!? Did they even consider the possibility that Percy wasn’t interested in being in a relationship with Vivian at all?
"I’m going to get married to Percy no matter what! Just you watch!"
Vivian pointed a finger right in Rita’s face, and Rita scowled in annoyance as she grabbed the finger and bent it!
"OWW! OW! OW! OW! I’m sorry! I’m sorry! You’re gonna break it!"
Vivian begged for mercy as she felt her finger being bent the wrong way, and Percy had to finally step in to intervene!
"Alright, you two, that’s enough."
Percy spoke up with a small laugh, and Rita huffed as she let Vivian’s finger go! Vivian immediately ran to hide behind Percy, and she scowled at Rita in anger while holding her finger! Rita was such a bully!
Percy patted Vivian on the head softly, and he asked her if she had any plans for her visit. Vivian immediately nodded.
"I want to go on a date together! We can go see the circus and the aquarium! I heard mermaids are working there now!"
Vivian’s eyes shone with excitement, and Percy hummed.
"I don’t know if that’ll be possible. I have work on most days."
Vivian’s eyes dimmed slightly when she heard this, and she turned away while muttering a low ’oh’. And surprisingly, it was Rita who spoke up.
"It’s alright, babe. I can cover the desk while you’re taking her around."
Rita understood just how important the relationship between Vivian and Percy was. Even though Vivian was technically Rita’s ’love rival’, Vivian was also one of Percy’s closest friends, and Rita cared more about Percy being happy than she cared about seeing her rival sad! So if Percy could spend time with his friend, then Rita didn’t mind helping!
