Chapter 562: Chapter 562 The Murderer is Me?_1
Qin Wenjun was obviously stunned into confusion, completely clueless.
But the more Li Qing thought about it, the more he felt something was off.
First of all, Qin Wenjun had no suicidal thoughts whatsoever; her mindset could even be described as very strong.
Under such circumstances, this woman had hung herself from the tree.
And out of nowhere, there was an extra hanging rope.
It was somewhat unbelievable.
"Is that flashlight yours?" Li Qing asked, pursing his lips.
Earlier he had seen a hazy halo of light perfectly illuminating the old Apricot Tree, courtesy of that flashlight.
It lay on the ground, the light shining directly on the old Apricot Tree.
Qin Wenjun nodded, "This, indeed, I brought down with me."
"It’s downright bizarre. You weren’t looking to die, yet you ended up hanging from a tree fit as a fiddle." Li Qing couldn’t make head nor tail of it.
He got up and walked over to the old Apricot Tree, slapping its weathered trunk twice, "Your doing?"
Qin Wenjun rubbed her neck, gradually distancing herself from Li Qing, "What are you doing?"
"I’m having a heart-to-heart with the Apricot Tree, maybe it knows something," Li Qing said indifferently.
"What could an Apricot Tree possibly know? I’m starting to think someone wants to target me!" Qin Wenjun said darkly, looking at Li Qing.
"They hung me from the tree and then saved me. Maybe they didn’t want to kill me, but they did want to take revenge on me!"
Li Qing turned and glanced at Qin Wenjun, "Stop beating around the bush. If you have something to say, say it directly. You’re talking about me, aren’t you?"
"But you might not understand me. With my style, I would definitely have taken advantage of you after knocking you out, then hung you from the tree. You’re so beautiful, and your figure is so good, if I didn’t do something, it would be a disservice to my manhood."
Qin Wenjun glared at Li Qing coldly, "Didn’t you?"
"Even if you did, if I wasn’t torn, or if you didn’t leave a mark inside, I probably wouldn’t even realize it after the fact!"
"Moreover, you should remember what my clothes looked like when I first woke up, shouldn’t you?"
Li Qing was utterly defeated by her powerful imagination.
But upon further thought.
Damn, there was a bit of logic to it.
He had just threatened Qin Wenjun this evening, and what he said about what he would do was similar to the present situation.
If he couldn’t solve this riddle, he just might end up the real culprit.
"So you aren’t afraid now that I’ll knock you out again and actually hang you from the tree?" Li Qing asked with a cold laugh.
Qin Wenjun eyed Li Qing warily, taking a step back, "I’m not unafraid, I just wanted to let you know."
"It was indeed wrong of me to tell your sister-in-law those things and to wrongly accuse you, but there’s no need for you to overreact. I can overlook what you did to me before, the hitting and all. Let’s pretend this never happened, alright?"
Li Qing’s eyes went wide with shock. Was this woman crazy?
She now suspects him of being the culprit, yet she’s saying she can overlook it?
Thinking it over carefully, Li Qing realized it was a stalling tactic.
The woman intended to hold him off and then call the police!
"I advise you to think it over again. This has nothing to do with me," Li Qing said coolly.
"Just because you say it has nothing to do with you doesn’t mean it’s true. I can accept that, as long as you agree to let this go," Qin Wenjun said calmly, "My brain isn’t that great, but I know nobody in the village would come here in the middle of the night for no reason, right?"
Li Qing was suddenly at a loss.
Damn, the more she talked, the more sense she made!
He had come to chat about life with this big Apricot Tree, but in Qin Wenjun’s eyes, that was not the case.
"You really shouldn’t say that, I even suspect that I’m the murderer!" Li Qing said with a wry smile, "But since you think so, would you fulfill a small request of mine?"
"Speak!" Qin Wenjun said through gritted teeth, glaring at Li Qing.
Her body was tense, clearly ready to flee at any moment.
"Let me experience how you feel. It wouldn’t be fair to shoulder the blame for hitting and messing with you without having done anything, quite a loss. I’ll take the blame first, then make up for it," Li Qing said with a bad smile.
If the real murderer couldn’t be found, he feared this accusation would definitely stick.
This made Li Qing feel more and more aggrieved and suffocated the more he thought about it.
The key issue was that even if he wanted to prove his innocence now, he couldn’t find any evidence.
"What... what do you want to do?"
Qin Wenjun immediately tensed up, took a step back, and grabbed a dry branch in her hand.
"You said that I did ’that’ to you before. You believe I did it, but I say I didn’t. And since you’re convinced I’m the murderer, I thought about it and realized I can’t explain it clearly. So, I’ll take the blame; you lie down and let me make up for what you thought I did but didn’t actually do!" Li Qing very politely clarified Qin Wenjun’s thoughts.
Qin Wenjun was so angry her face turned ashen, and she almost crushed her silver teeth, "Scoundrel, shameless, bastard, filthy hooligan!"
"You said it didn’t matter, look at your face now, what a mess," Li Qing chuckled, his palm patted the old Apricot Tree, "Do you understand something? I know you can understand me!"
Qin Wenjun took another step back, warily watching Li Qing.
"If you don’t speak, then I’ll have to assume you did it," Li Qing said ominously.
"One bolt of lightning, and your hundred years of cultivation could turn into a struck tree."
No sooner had Li Qing finished speaking than the old Apricot Tree started to violently shake.
"...Don’t."
Faintly, Li Qing sensed a thread of thought from the old Apricot Tree.
Damn.
This thing really did understand human speech.
Given this, it was probably much older than a hundred years.
"How did this dead old witch cling to you?" Li Qing asked in a stern voice.
"A... a cripple."
The old Apricot Tree rustled, sending a thread of thought into Li Qing’s mind.
A cripple...
Yu Haizhu was a cripple.
Could it be that Yu Haizhu was actually the one behind this?
"Li Qing, you don’t need to play these tricks of pretending to be a god or a ghost. I can overlook what happened today," Qin Wenjun said coldly.
Li Qing did not speak, turning to look at the several lights coming from down the cliff.
It seemed like the reinforcements Qin Wenjun had secretly called for had arrived.
Silently, Li Qing moved next to Qin Wenjun, and suddenly grabbed her shoulder.
"Your help is here, but what will you do?"
Qin Wenjun was also turning her head to look in that direction, not expecting Li Qing to make a move all of a sudden.
In that instant, Qin Wenjun was so frightened her hair almost stood on end.
"Li Qing, you are living a prosperous life now, there’s no need to be like this..."
"Of course, I know that, but you’re the one who caused all this trouble for me!" Li Qing said with a sinister tone, "Kiss me, and I’ll let you go."
Qin Wenjun: Huh???
