Chapter 2391: Chapter 2390: Paradise Island
Ling Feng and Feiyan were both taken aback, exchanging a glance.
The group of black-clad people consisted of men and women, seven in total.
As they approached, the leader, a man with a goatee, squinted his eyes at them: "From Lingjian Mountain?"
"That’s right, and you are?"
Judging by their attire, Ling Feng immediately knew they weren’t disciples of Lingjian Mountain.
Because there, everyone wore white clothes.
The black-clad man smiled: "We are from Paradise Island."
Upon hearing this, Ling Feng turned to look at Feiyan.
He had no idea there was a Paradise Island here.
Feiyan, however, didn’t seem surprised, she just nodded: "So it’s fellow Daoists."
"I didn’t expect to meet fellow Daoists here, quite a surprise."
The black-clad man smiled, stroking his goatee: "Lingjian Mountain is so far from here, it’s impressive you made the journey."
"Paradise Island isn’t close either. Why have so many of you come?" Feiyan asked.
"Oh no, we’re just here to relax!"
The black-clad man replied.
"Well, in that case, let’s each enjoy our own tour, no need to disturb each other." Feiyan said, stepping into a sea of flowers.
The other party said nothing, and Ling Feng followed her, lowering his voice to ask, "What’s going on?"
"What’s the matter?"
Feiyan asked.
"Why is there a Paradise Island? I thought this place only had Lingjian Mountain!" Ling Feng said.
"Paradise Island and we hardly interact. It’s rare to encounter them, so it’s normal you haven’t heard of them."
Feiyan said.
"Do they coexist here with Lingjian Mountain? Are they followers of the Heavenly Dao too?" Ling Feng asked.
"Yes."
Feiyan nodded, then continued: "But our duties differ. In this world, Lingjian Mountain is mainly responsible for trials with various civilized worlds, while Paradise Island is in charge of martial strength."
"Are they responsible for eliminating those who fail the trials?" Ling Feng asked.
Feiyan nodded: "That’s right!"
Ling Feng said nothing, but his heart sank.
From the beginning, he had been a bit averse to this so-called high and mighty Heavenly Dao.
Because in Ling Feng’s view, no matter how advanced a civilization is, it has no right to decide others’ life and death.
Screening under the guise of trials is, in itself, a form of bullying.
But such thoughts could only be stifled in his heart, not shared with others here.
After all, Lingjian Mountain is a follower of the Heavenly Dao.
Seeing those black-clad people now, Ling Feng mused how many innocent civilizations’ blood stained their hands, naturally having no good impression of them.
It was clear that Feiyan didn’t seem interested in them either, otherwise, she wouldn’t have just greeted them and left.
The two of them strolled through the sea of flowers, walking a distance ahead when Ling Feng turned his head back and realized that those black-clad people were also behind them, not far away.
"Where are we going next?" Ling Feng asked.
"Not far ahead is a stone forest. Let’s see where they camp. If they stay, we’ll head back to the entrance." Feiyan replied.
Ling Feng acknowledged, using the opportunity to ask: "You don’t seem to have a good impression of them?"
"Not really, just that we’re from different sects, with no common topics." Feiyan said calmly.
"Is that so?"
Ling Feng chuckled, not probing further.
The end of the sea of flowers led to a section of trees filled with blossoms. After passing through them, the scenery changed again. They found themselves in a stone forest with strange peaks and rocks.
What a magnificent landscape this was.
Surrounded by mist, Ling Feng marveled: "Feels like stepping into the Cultivation World. The last time I saw such a scene was in the movies."
"What’s that?"
Feiyan asked.
"Uh, well, how to put it?"
Ling Feng scratched his head, thinking, and then said: "It’s complicated, I’ll show you after we set camp."
"Okay."
Feiyan asked no more, pointing at a towering rock over ten meters high: "Shall we go up there?"
"Alright."
Ling Feng nodded. They approached, each grabbing a protruding rock to climb up.
Reaching the top, the view widened, providing almost the full scope of the stone forest.
And at that moment, the black-clad group also arrived.
There were many of them, laughing and chatting along the way, impossible to ignore.
Soon, they also ascended, only about ten meters from Ling Feng and Feiyan’s spot.
"Fellow Daoists from Lingjian Mountain, are you planning to stay here tonight too?"
Initially, Ling Feng and Feiyan weren’t planning to engage with them, but the black-clad man suddenly spoke.
Having no choice, Ling Feng nodded: "Yes, that’s the plan!"
"It’s getting late, how about we camp together and watch the phenomenon of the Xuan Yun Light tonight?" the black-clad man suggested.
Before Ling Feng could say a word, Feiyan shook her head: "No need, we prefer our peace."
"We’re not noisy. No need for such distance, we mean no harm!" the black-clad man said.
With him being so accommodating, Feiyan didn’t know how to refuse.
At this point, Ling Feng smiled and said: "Well then, let’s camp together, it’ll be a good chance to exchange thoughts."
"That’s best!"
The black-clad man nodded, then said: "I remember an open space nearby, we can camp there, let’s move!"
With that, he leaped gracefully, like a giant bird, towards another big rock ahead.
Those from Paradise Island followed suit. Ling Feng glanced at Feiyan: "It’s fine, if you don’t want to chat, just ignore them."
"Mm."
Feiyan said nothing more, nodding before leaping across.
The group hopped across the rocks a few times, soon spotting a flat rock jutting out, about half the size of a soccer field.
Their people from Paradise Island were already there. As Ling Feng and Feiyan landed, they smiled and asked: "Fellow Daoists, how do you plan to set up for tonight?"
"Everyone brought their gear."
The black-clad man replied, flipping his palm to reveal a black package.
Ling Feng said nothing, observing them set up camp. Those black packages turned out to be simple tents. Though not as advanced as his, they were serviceable.
Seeing them settle, Ling Feng didn’t approach but instead set up his tent right where he was.
According to habit, he also brought out firewood, a grill, a water bucket, and other stuff.
The people from Paradise Island, having set up their tents, all looked over at this scene.
