Chapter 10: Adrian is the Main Suspect
----
"You were gone for two days—". The red-haired student placed his hand on Theon’s shoulder. "I thought you had run away— or perhaps ended up dead somewhere in the forest you freak."
Theon’s eyes widened. ’What did he just say? This guy— he just said something related to Theon’s death!!’
He turned his head slightly to get a better look at the red-haired student behind him. ’I recognize him... From Theon’s memories.’ Theon gritted his teeth softly. ’He’s one of those bastards who made his life a living hell.’
’Coupled with the fact that he just said something about me being dead.’ Theon’s fist tightened. ’He knows something.’
"You know, you still haven’t paid me back all that money you borrowed. Maybe it’s time we meet up again— at the usual location" The red-haired student grinned ear to ear, but there was no response from Theon at all.
It almost felt like Theon was not hearing a single thing coming out of his mouth.
The red-haired student noticed it and his grin instantly transformed into a frown. "Hey!!!" His voice came out low and threatening.
"Pay attention when I speak to you." He said, his eyes glowing red as he tightened his grip around Theon’s shoulder.
Theon suddenly began to feel a burning sensation from his shoulder. It started out as nothing but a slight increase in temperature, but the heat seemed to increased more and more.
Before he could react, Lucius suddenly stood up and grabbed the red-haired students arm firmly. "What do you think you’re doing." He said with squinted eyes.
Theon looked up at Lucius with a surprised expression. To be honest, he was ready to pry the red-haired students hand of his shoulder.
He hadn’t expected that Lucius would react this openly, and from what he could see, Damon and Reed were also ready to lunge at the red-haired student— it was just that Lucius was faster.
Truth be told, he had expected Reed to be the first to react— since they were childhood friends, but seeing Lucius’ eagerness to handle the situation shocked Theon greatly.
Theon had not been with Lucius for long— even through the memories, they had only known each other for about two weeks.
That was not nearly enough time for a human to grow attached to a person they had just met. But it seemed that wasn’t the case for Lucius.
Since the day Theon had stepped in when Lucius had angered those students, Lucius had been stuck to Theon like glue to paper.
Hell, he had even found a way to get into the same room with Theon.
’This is the second person I’ve seen who truly cares about you,’ Theon sympathized with himself. ’Don’t worry— I will take care of them in your place.’
Suddenly, a change in the aura of the red-haired student behind him caused Theon to snap out of his thoughts.
The calm aura around him was gone, and it was replaced by clear, unfiltered rage. His eyes began to glow a stronger shade of red as the heat around their table began to increase.
Theon could even feel beads of sweat begin to form on his forehead due to the sudden increase in temperature.
"Get your hand of me!!" The red-haired student growled.
"You haven’t replied my question—" Lucius grip tightened. "I said, what do you think your—"
WHAM
Lucius failed to finish his words as he was suddenly sent flying across the cafeteria before sprawling across the cold, white polished tile. He had been knocked unconscious.
Countless gasps immediately began to echo around the cafeteria.
"LUCIUS!!!!" Both Damon and Reed screamed as their brains adjusted to what had transpired. All they had heard was a sound, and the next thing they saw was Lucius flying across the room, his face smashed in.
Theon gritted his teeth. Even he had failed to react in time. He had seen when the red-haired student threw the punch, and perhaps, he would’ve been able to stop it— but he just hadn’t expected that the red-haired student would just transition into a punch right after speaking.
’Damn it!!! And just after I just promised to protect them!’
"You!!!" Reed suddenly said coldly as his head snapped toward the red-haired student. His aura began to flare up when he suddenly felt two set of large strong arms wrap around him holding him in place.
He shoved against the arms wrapped around him, but the grip wouldn’t budge. It almost felt like he was trying to push two brick walls apart.
"D-Damon!!" Reed called out, but got no reply. He turned to check on him, and found that he also had been knocked unconscious, by a slim student whose arms seemed stretch all the way to his ankles.
Seeing this, Reed’s body instantly became limp. They were utterly defeated.
The chatter in the cafeteria began to grow louder and louder. All conversations and whispers focused on what was currently happening.
"There he goes again." A student whispered.
"Another set of students humiliated by Adrian’s might!" Another student said.
"Oh please! He only targets the weak from what I’ve heard." One bold student muttered
"Shhhhh!!! Are you nuts!!! If he hears you, you’re done for!" Another whispered, his voice slightly cracking.
"You know—" the red-haired student, whose name was Adrian spoke up once more. "I liked it better when you all where quiet—"
"—I really don’t like taking drastic measures, but—" Adrian sighed. "You forced my hand."
"Brook!" Adrian called out to the large student holding Reed. "Crush him!" He grinned viciously.
Brook nodded his head and his grip around Reed tightened. Reed could suddenly feel his bones cracking under the pressure.
"Hey!!" Theon said with wide eyes. "What do you think your doing?"
"What else—" Adrian grinned. "I’m creating silence."
Brook’s grip tightened once more. A snap was heard. Reed gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to outright scream.
Infact, he gritted his teeth so much that blood began to seep out from his mouth.
"Stop!!!" Theon exclaimed before things could get any worse. He didn’t know how to describe it, but he had a feeling that if he didn’t act now, Reed would die.
"That’s enough!!" Theon said coldly, his eyes glowing brightly as he slowly pried Adrian’s hand off his shoulder, before flinging it backwards.
A black mark could be seen on the shoulder where Adrian had placed his hand. The whole material around that area had been burnt completely, reaching down to Theon’s bare skin infact.
Luckily, the uniform had already began re-stitching itself, and at least, Brook had finally let go of Reed allowing him to fall limply on the cold floor as well.
"Ohhh!" Adrian exclaimed with wide eyes while softly rubbing the hand that Theon had grabbed. "It seems like a struck a nerve."
"You said you wanted to meet right?" Theon whispered coldly. "Fine!! Same location as usual, after school. Now leave us alone, before I get mad!!" His eyes sparked slightly.
Adrian stared at Theon with wide eyes. Hell, even Brook and the slim student with long arms watched with mouths wide agape.
’What is going on?’ Adrian thought to himself. ’Is this really the same Theon I knew?’
"Fine!" Adrian smiled, his arms raised in the air. "Brook, Reacher! Let’s take our leave." He ordered, before turning and walking away.
Then, he halted. "You better show up Theon, or else I will make your life a living hell!" Adrian said before finally walking out of the cafeteria.
