Chapter 540: Chapter 540 - Reina’s Backup Plan
Henry’s hand slid over to the frozen block of Reina’s face.
"For someone who tends to stay hot, the current predicament should feel renewed." Henry barked a small laugh, "With your ring gone and being incapacitated, your plans gone to smithereens, Reina"
"I’m going to unfreeze you, just to see what you have left to say." Henry’s words made others spooked, "But! Only the head, that way you’d still be incapacitated."
The others sighed and with a gentle flick, the top of the ice defrosted, leaving only up to Reina’s neck free.
The first thing she did was not blast curses or beg, Reina took quick and small breaths. The cold earlier was unforgivable, it gave the feeling of being dead while alive and it was cold... so cold!
"Y- You...!" She stammered slowly as her teeth clacked from the cold, "Just be- because, I am frozen, doesn’t mean I’m helpless."
"Hmm" Maverick replied instead, "You... have a backup plan for a time like such?!"
Reina showed a slow, vicious smile, "He he he... I- I am not stupid to think tha- that this would never come. I always made sure to prepare something for my safety." She tilted her head to look at Henry, "S- So Henry, you can’t k- kill me... not without knowing... the consequences!"
Every member glared at Reina. Once they were close as comrades, bickering, hating and somewhat backstabbing, now it had turned into outright hatred.
They all looked at Henry, being the leader, now it was his decision whether to kill her or listen to her demands.
Yet, Henry only looked at her, focused on her face and to the others it seemed as if he was ascertaining whether to her words or not. And in the next moment, he laughed, Henry laughed his ass off. He slapped his thigh a few times and kept laughing as if he heard outright stupidity.
Reina’s brow squeezed in slight fear, ’Did he figure it out? Was he already aware of what I planned for him? No, it can’t be... unless, some bastard betrayed me!’
As his laughter gained curious eyes from all, Henry stopped. His mocking eyes gazed at Reina as if she was a lab rat.
"You Know... Kay Gon, said the same thing then, just like you. But what happened? Nothing. Why? Because except for his most loyal people, the most powerful ones were all against him. Even you, Reina, were against your father at that time." Henry voice spread as if mentioning to the others, "It would have been the opportune moment for you to backstab us then and save your beloved father, but you didn’t."
"Do you know why?"
Reina’s face only darkened as she listened to him. The others, couldn’t think of an answer while Maverick had a thought. They all looked at Reina with confusion... ’Yes, why? If she’s avenging Kay Gon’s death... then why was she in on the plan back then?’
"There would have been no point."
It was Francis.
He had sat back at one point and clasped both hands before his face and with a bygone expression, he spoke, "Helping Kay Gon wouldn’t have done her much... yes, Kay Gon’s trust of Reina would have skyrocketed and she would have been given much more resources. Maybe, one day she would have become one of the powerful members, even the second most after Kay Gon... but that’s not what she wants."
"Shut up!" Reina barked.
"I believe, you want to succeed your father."
"Shut up!"
"No matter what you do, how much you please the group, you wouldn’t fulfill your dream."
"Shut the fuck up you damned geezer!" Reina screamed out loud and thrashed but to no avail did it help.
Francis ignored her curses and spoke the truth.
"This group would never accept you, we would never accept you... a woman as our leader." Francis said with cold clarity, "No matter how strong you become, you would still never be the center."
"You are not Margaret Religias."
"Ahh! Fuck you! Fuck you! Fuck all of you!" Reina cursed, "I hope everyone of you lose your cocks, your wives fuck your enemies and die in the cruelest ways there are!"
"Except for the first two, the last one would probably come true." Henry rubbed Reina’s cheek while she tried to bite his hand off, "Now as to your contingency pla-"
"Boss! Boss!"
Suddenly, continuous, hard knocks resounded from the closed door of the VVIP room.
"What the hell? Don’t they know we’re having an important meeting." Benedict grumbled.
The knock kept on coming.
"It seems like something big." Salvick lightly inhaled his cigarette and pointed it towards the door, "They know better than to disturb us at such times, and the knocks are quite hurried as well."
Rocky looked at Henry for confirmation and stood up. He went to the door and opened it. Standing outside were two men who wore expensive dress, toxic cologne and had looks of frightened worry.
These two men are high-ranking members of the gang, those that have the ranks of Captains, Lieutenants and so so. They were below the bosses of the gang and handled the men and its day-to-day operations.
Rocky’s eye sharpened at their looks, "What happened?"
The front man opened his mouth but paused a second later. He looked back at the other one and got a nod as if to say ’You do it’.
Rocky glanced at the two quickly, his tone sharp, "Stop wasting time and spit it out, now!"
The front member talked, "Boss, something happened... it- its bad." The two men finally noticed the scene inside the room and almost had their eyeballs spill out.
Rocky didn’t give an explanation and gestured to continue.
"We just got word from Lunaville, there was an attack."
Maverick looked towards Reina, a dark sigh coming out, "We don’t know what’s she prepared, we need to be ready. Lunaville’s operation may not be power-heavy, but we are not much here, it could become a massacre."
Reina laughed from her frozen block, "I told you, not to underestimate me. See Henry, it doesn’t matter if you’re a man or woman, a sharp knife is always a dangerous knife."
To her threat, Henry calmly smirked. He looked at the two men outside, their looks now of confusion, "You two didn’t finish earlier, did you."
The second one spoke first, "Big Boss, Bosses, the attack isn’t from Lunaville, it is there, as if there was an attack on Lunaville."
"What?" Francis furrowed his brow, "Somebody attack there... when?"
"An hour ago, when the meeting started. It’s not only that, but there was a raid from the Valkyries too."
"What!?" Maverick stood up in shock, "The Valkyries? are they the ones behind the attack?" He asked himself before speaking his question, "Why are we hearing this so late?"
"Well boss..." The two looked down in shame, "The Valkyries were very thorough, they attacked every single place of ours in Lunaville. It’s as if they know our operation from inside-out. That’s why we didn’t get any knowledge of it until it had been too late."
Everyone looked shocked at the intel, Reina more so than anyone. Her backup plan to save her, couldn’t even start and the Valkyries already tore it down?
Maverick looked down in deep contemplation.

Maverick’s hands trembled at the fearful thought. He slowly looked up and saw it... Henry smiling at him, a smile so wide... so evil.
"Your too smart for your own good, Maverick."
