Chapter 539: Chapter 539 - Reina is Who?!

All eyes glared at Reina, a variety of emotions- confusion, shock, anger and bafflement threatened her.

Instead of being shocked or scared, Reina looked at Henry with a cold calm, "And why do you believe it’s me?"

Henry’s smile went wide like a shark’s, "Look at that, so confident. Tell me, would any of you have been so calm in front of such blatant accusation from your murder-crazy leader?"

Rocky, Benedict and Salvick almost shook their heads. They saw Reina and knew she was a greedy bitch, but this just confirmed she was a certified psycho. An attempt on Henry is nothing less than suicide.

Did she forget what happened to their last boss?!

Benedict, the most green of them, asked, "Reina, is this true? He’s words can’t be true; how can you do something so stupid?"

Reina didn’t look at him, her calculating sharp gaze still remained on Henry. She dropped the honorifics, "Just because I’m calm, doesn’t confirm it’s me. And you still haven’t answered my question, Henry." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Henry lifted both hands in apology, "Sorry, it was unethical of me. But to answer your question, I have to ask you one, would you care to indulge?" Without waiting, he continued, "Tell us, how did you join this gang initially?"

"Just like everyone else, I contributed and gave my skills to this group and it gifted me this position for my loyalty."

"Crafting counterfeit clothes, forging Jewellery, identifying the difference and stuff, right?" Reina nodded. "Just like you, all of the people here contributed to the gang, excluding me, you can’t really count giving massive dumps of money as a real skill, right?"

He lightly laughed, "Getting back to the point, everyone has something. But there is a glaring difference in their files against yours."

Reina raised a mock brow, "What are you talking about? There isn’t."

"Oh, but there is." Henry said and put his hand over Rocky’s shoulder, "Rocky here, has been skimming off boards, cards and many other games since he was a kid. One day, he cheated the wrong person, that person belonged as a senior member of the Snake Tails Gang."

Rocky had a rare reminiscent look, as if Henry’s words were reviving the memory inside.

"Just like any other brat, Rocky had his face caved in as a lesson. But that person also saw the prospect in him. He introduced Rocky to the gang and put him to work in that same casino that he’s now the owner of."

"Maverick here was a street kid who joined the gang because he didn’t have much of a choice. He robbed, beat and stabbed people like any other member, but his wit made him different. Now the same person who was once a random bandit sits here as the Head of Operations of the Snake Tails gang."

Maverick puffed his chest out, the words reverberating with pain, joy and strength, the earlier days bore upon him.

"The Old Man Francis may not look like it, but he was once an infamous smuggler who brought in rare items and antics, the acts of which is unbelievable if you didn’t see them for yourselves." Francis said nothing, the shadows of the past also had painful memories.

"Benedict over there... well, he got pushed into a seat because his father couldn’t hold liquor."

"Hey-" Benedict wanted to protest; however, the words numbed as nothing he could say would change the past.

"What I’m trying to say is, every member sitting in this room has been through this gang from the ground up and claimed their positions rightfully." Henry said, "Except for me... and you."

Reina was quiet, unusually. The confidence from before flickered a radiance of annoyance.

Everyone looked at each other and found the same confusion, except for Francis. Benedict asked, "But she’s been here even before I got this se- I started working and I got accepted as a head before the others did."

"Yes, that is true." Henry nodded, "Maverick, Rocky, Salvick and Fredrick came after you. But it doesn’t change what I said. One day, from nowhere, Reina just landed on that position without any background checks or anything like she already existed."

Reina clicked her tongue.

"Th- That can’t be true." Benedict exclaimed. "My father was one of the most trusted men, but even then, when my time came, there was a through checkup and I had to prove myself before I was accepted."

Your still not fully accepted.’ Rocky thought.

"She was indeed integrated without any checkup." Francis said as all looked to him, "Because the one who vouched for him wasn’t just someone, it was Kay Gon."

Even more questions raised within the men.

"Are you finally going to answer the big question, my lady?" Henry asked, "No? Alright then, men, the answer is actually quite simple. The reason for her unnatural entry is because she is Kay Gon’s Daughter."

"..."

A long silence came; their mouths went wide at the revelation.

The one to break the silence was none other than Reina. She laughed and clapped with a delay, "Wonderful! I thought you were just a Brute. At least it’s respectable to know the man who killed my father has some intellect."

Henry gave a theatrical bow, "And with that, this show must end."

"On the contrary." Reina stood up and brought her hand to her chest where a ring flared, "The show is coming to its climax."

At her action, the men were about to use their own rings, but then-

"Ah, ah, ah..." She warned them, "I wouldn’t get up if I knew the person threatening me, had power to spread a painfully dangerous poison in the air. Which works fast and kills very painfully."

Everyone instinctively strayed just a slight step away.

Salvick questioned her, "Are you crazy? That wouldn’t kill just us, but it will also kill you!"

Henry clicked at him and directed his words to her, "I believe that ring also the antidote for its special poison, right?"

Reina laughed almost maniacally, "Hahahaha! Great Deduction, You Bastard! Not only did you ruin everything, but it seems you also know much. Yes, it does have the antidote."

Henry, with the calm he had from the beginning nodded, "I would applaud to you... if only you were smart enough to not give so much time to your enemy."

Reina heard a splash and looked down. Under her feet, were a small puddle of water that had a direct link to Henry’s feet.

Immediately, the small puddle exploded out and expanded exponentially, devoured her within itself. The water inside the bubble swirled around and had such pressure that no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t get out. Though this frightened her, she didn’t lose hope, the poison could still be transmitted through water.

Suddenly, she felt a loss of connection from underneath and saw that the water around her waist had frozen solid. Her eyes widened and before she could utter a word, the water around her whole body solidified and froze her solid.

Instantly, Francis jumped from his seat and from his ring, materialized a sharp iron sword. He slashed at her and swiftly cut off the hand which wore the ring.

If she weren’t frozen solid, Reina would have cried out in pain and horror, at the loss of her hand.

Following Francis, all other members immediately stood up and also surrounded Reina, positioning their weapon and ready to cut her within moments notice.
