Chapter 869: The Student And The Teacher.

Loki was solemn as he said, "For example, in the Forging Pathway, there is a rule that determines how one can control metal with the power of the mind."

"This rule states that the mind is made to interfere with reality in such a way that metallic substances can be pushed and pulled based on one’s will. The direction of control of metal is thus a resolution of the forces of push and pull on the metal as it tries to seek balance. As for the power of control, it is dependent on the power of the mind."

"This is an internally consistent rule because it doesn’t clash with other rules and because the action and reaction, or input of the instruction and expected output of reaction, are related and linked to one another."

"If the rule had stated, for instance, that the direction of control of metal is thus a multiplication of the forces of push by the forces of pull on the metal, this rule would fall apart internally."

"And if it were instead stated that the power of control is independent of the power of the mind and reliant on the power of the body, this rule will become incompatible with the world because when you control something with your mind, the power of this work should be dependent on the power of the mind, not the power of the body."

Monarch Giant Zombie was greatly enlightened by Loki’s explanation. His eyes lit up with understanding as he said, "I see. So that’s how it is? Thank you for your help, great lord."

In response, Loki smiled and said, "You’re welcome. If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to ask them. I will try my best to answer them."

Monarch Giant Zombie took this promise to heart and did not hesitate to ask more questions. Even when it came to the past about commonality, he also asked Loki questions.

He said, "I want my commonality to be the concept of death. Do you think it will work, my lord?"

His question made Loki frown and say, "You want to use death? It should work. But you should know that if it works, your final product will be influenced greatly by death. Are you fine with that?"

Monarch Giant Zombie sighed in relief when he heard that. Then he nodded and said, "I am fine with it. After all, the pathway I want to make is the pathway of death."

This information made Loki raise an eyebrow and say, "Really? You don’t have something else in mind that could be better?"

But Giant Zombie shook his head and said, "I don’t have anything else. Death is all I know, and I believe that Death is the greatest power in the world."

"Death is inevitable. It comes for everyone in equal measure. It is only a matter of time before people are subjected to its power. I don’t think I can come up with something better."

He sighed before saying, "Plus, I’ve always wanted to experience the full power of death. Unfortunately, I have been stopped from doing so because of certain rules. If I can create my own Death Pathway, then I will be able to fulfill my heart’s desire."

After hearing his impassioned speech, Loki nodded and said, "In that case, you may go ahead."

It wasn’t that he could force Giant Zombie to create a different pathway. Besides, he was now curious to see how this attempt would turn out.

He wanted to see if it was allowed to copy another person’s pathway. So for the first time since he started helping Monarch Giant Zombie, he became interested in the process, not just the final product.

Having received his permission, Monarch Giant Zombie bowed and said, "Thank you for your assistance and support again, my lord."

Then he resumed his work.

The next step was to extract commonality from the eight Divine Positions. Since the commonality that he picked was highly compatible with both the raw materials he was using and the final product, he was able to extract a whopping 50% of the eight rank 8 Divine Positions.

Loki’s eyes nearly twitched when he saw this. Apparently, the 33% he achieved earlier wasn’t the best possible rate. He felt challenged after his record-breaking performance was broken.

Inwardly, he thought to himself, ’At this rate, he doesn’t need eight Divine Positions to reach the limit. Give Divine Positions would have done. So the extra three Divine Positions I created and the three million years of lifespan I spent on them would go to waste.’

Outwardly, he acted unimpressed with Monarch Giant Zombie’s work. He even complained, saying, "Only 50%? I expected more, seeing as you’re just copying your old pathway."

In response, Monarch Giant Zombie lowered his head and said, "I’m sorry for my unimpressive performance. Unfortunately, 50% appears to be my limit. I can go no further than that."

So Loki shook his head and said, "What a shame!"

He was truly sincere when he said this, unlike his earlier complaint, which he mainly made to support his image as a Dao Lord. This time, he thought it was truly a shame, but he was talking about the waste of three Divine Positions, not Monarch Giant Zombie’s performance.

As he watched, Monarch Giant Zombie managed to extract 32 units of commonality from the eight Divine Positions. Since he could only use 19 units, it meant that 13 units of commonality would go to waste.

On the other hand, if Monarch Giant Zombie had used five Divine Positions, he would have extracted 20 units of commonality. So he would only waste 1 unit, not 13 units. Loki felt that it was a shame that this wasn’t the case.

Just then, the space in the second heaven was torn open. A large horizontal rift as big as a river was torn into the fabric of space of the second heaven. This created a hole into the second heaven dimension that someone of sufficient power could look through.
